Good Points: I love Diani beach and whenever I go to Mombasa it is always my choice. The staffs are very supportive and their services are best. I have vivisted Southern Palms Beach Resort for more than 5 times in 3 years time and I always go for my holiday here.

This was overall the most superb holiday we have ever had. The whole fortnight was one of sheer indulgence and would not hesitate to recommend either one of your hotels. I do hope that you won't mind my additional comments which I hope you will appreciate.
We arrived at The Bamburi Beach Hotel on 7th August and were welcomed at reception with a coconut drink before being shown to our room.
After changing, we ventured to your restaurant for lunch and following an excellent meal, sat by the pool ...

I shall be returning in October for the third time with my friends who shall be returning for the I don' know 12th time. Take a walk up to the local shop, turn left out of the front on the hotel, or go for a beer and a burger with the locals in the bar opposite the hotel up the road a little, great fun.

Nice pool, friendly staff and wonderful beach during high tide. Smelly rooms, poor buffet and night entertainment (note, we were there is January 2008, when the political situation caused massive cut-backs). Overall I would rate the hotel between 6-7 out of ten, adding that easily it could improve, only if they cared for little things, such as bed sheets, towels. The pools are beautiful, but the water discolours swimdresses.

Lucky to have had holidays in many countries, but for me,Kenya has it all and more. When you arrive home friends ask"would you go back again?".Well I have been to Southern Palms six times in nine years, and have been on safaris to Masai Mara twice +Savo twice, experiences I will remember all my life. The staff are the nicest people on the planet, but please remember they live on a pittance,so a few shillings here and there will not go amiss.Don't be scared of the Beach Boys,go and talk to them and the ...

The beach sellers can get a bit ott but if you want to buy carvings ect decide the price you want to pay and stick with it they will give in in the end
Don't be afraid to book safari's from the beach we did from JT travel ask 1st class safari £120 less than Thomson for same lodge and itinerary
A visit to Ali Barbours cave resteraunt is a must

During our stay the troubles with the elections began outside. The staff and management were excellent they were calm, keeping the tourists minds at rest. Excursions were canceled and we were told it would be best to remain inside the complex, which we were happy to do as it was so lovely.
Mombasa airport is very small and ran out of food in the only cafe, so take something with you especially if you have kids!
We would go back to Southern Palms it was excellent!!
    Best holiday ever

Diani Beach, Southern Palms Beach Resort is a nice complex, but we didn't dare venture outside of it for the week that we were there.

We had a fantastic time at the Southern Palms Beach Resort and would definitely go back to this resort.
We had the added bonus of getting married on the beach and the staff made our day very special.

We had a lovely holday and would definatly return, the pool I believe is the largest in East Africa if not Africa and it is all freshwater. The pool is divided into two pools which wrap around the hotels gardens and has a number of bridges and pool bars within them. The rooms have an african carved four poster bed as well as a proper single bed. Although the room is quite basic it was more than enough for us - There is a TV with DVD player as well as mini bar, electronic safe and tea/coffee m ...

We have just returned from a three week holiday, the weather and position of the hotel is excellent. Don't worry about people selling to you on the beach, just politely refuse or chat to the people, they are very friendly. We found a nice small cheap trip, come out of hotel onto the beach, turn left and walk down to the river. People are waiting to ferry you across for 100 Ksh return for two. Or they will take you up the river in their Dhow, to visit a village or just for bird watching, for abou ...

Dini beach is all the sun worshipper could wish for (in the season) and southern palms does have the best pools on this coast - clean, white sandy beaches, palm trees and a light breeze.
The rooms are, compared to some, basic - there isn't even a radio which to be fair on holiday is not a great problem but it is nice to keep up with the news. The room service staff are in my opinion extremely honest and willing to help, restrained only by the hotel's own rules. Remember if you want to leave any ...

We stayed at the Southern Palms hotel which is located in Diani Beach.

A bit about our trip. We went with Monarch airlines from Gatwick to Mombasa. Journey time - 9 hours - seating predictably tight, but we did at least get 2 meals. From Mombasa, it takes about 30 minutes to clear customs, 30 minutes to the Likoni Ferry, 30 minutes waiting and crossing the river and 30 minutes to Diani Beach the other end, so expect 2 hours from the airport if you go.

Diani Beach is a resort located alon ...

It is such a great shame that a lovely location is let down by lack of effort, complacency and some heads of staff who are out of touch with what is expected for the money spent. There are cheaper and better hotels around so competition could soon destroy this hotel's rating which is at best 3*.
I do not agree with the "This is Africa" excuse as Leopard Beach and Leisure Lodge do better for less money.
There was not even a radio in the bedrooms at Southern Palms. The entertainment is more ho ...

The food at the Diani Beach Southern Palms, while copious, needs upgrading. Perhaps the chef has gotten a little jaded. Then again, he is a very pleasant chap, so it is hard to complain too strongly (unless like me you're from the trade). The entire hotel is however kept spotlessly clean. Laundry takes 2 days, but again, a first class service.

Considering it is not a "party" hotel, the entertainment is good.

Despite its faults, I am going back for a month this year in June/July, and again ...

Me and my family came back from the Southern Palms Beach Resort in March and this was our second trip and all I can say is this hotel is fantastic value for money. We booked our first trip to the Southern Palms last year through Escape2kenya and we were a bit worried about taking our young children to Kenya but after taking the advice given to us we booked and was very happy to do so. The hotel is great for the family and the food is really good with a wide range to choose from. The rooms are cl ...

This was our second time to Kenya, and I have to say I can't wait to go back next year.

I was a little worried by some reviews I had read about the Southern Palms Beach resort before travelling, but I honestly don't know what people were complaining about.

The hotel is lovely. The staff can't do enough for you, and the rooms and grounds are kept clean and tidy.

We booked with Golden Ticket Travel who suggested that I upgrade to an All Inclusive package before travelling. It was great a ...

Before my wife and I booked the Southern Palms we checked it out not only on Reveiw Center but also on Trip Advisor. Both sites gave rave reviews so I had no worries in booking it for a two week holiday at the begining of March 2006. Sorry to the other reviewers but I think things have changed.

On arrival we went to our room and noticed that it had a musty smell. After returning from dinner we went to bed and realised that the smell was comming from the bedding. I told the reception the next ...

We have recently returned from staying at the Southern Palms Beach Resort in Diani Beach, where we were throughly spoilt by all the staff. We got married in the resort and were made to feel like royalty on our special day. We would highly recommend this resort - excellent service/food/entertainment/accomodation and very friendly staff. Can't wait to go back!!
