Great handling,Voted best 125cc machine of all time.Still looks good today.especially m2 or 3 with its lower looking front end.comfort ,reliability and great build quility.Tough engines and reliable power valve(pv was patented and was simple and bullet proof ,unlike suzukis which were made from chocolate.A very good engine to tune so many were thrashed and moded in a year or two.I have a mk2 ypvs and looks 6months old if that. Yamaha RD 125 LC great for turning heads.

The Yamaha RD 125 LC has good power after 7,000rpm and light easy to handle brakes not to bad.. I've got a full power rd125lc (1983 model) has been super tuned 27bhp,not bad at low rev's under 6,500rpm need to change down to 2nd on steep hills, but once you hit 7,000rpm then it all goes off power wheelies in first (wether you like it or not) can wheelie off the power in 2nd with a bit of incouragement.dont know how mines geared but does 30 in 1st,50 in 2nd,70 in 3rd,90 in 4th and top speed is 105mph in 5th.dont take it past 85mph very often as it shakes to death(very scary). Bad points are not much low end power, forks a bit spongey 30 year old tech.

has a nasty habit of chewing sprockets and chains when giving a fist full.

I got this Yamaha RD 125 LC bike in a box and I spent a few weeks getting the parts with the longest bits being the side panels. I had a Pepsi bike. The performance of the non YPVS is pretty good, I beat my mate's YPVS all the way up to 70mph and then he got the upper hand with a few more MPH and pull at the top end.
The bikes are light and well balanced.
The older bikes came unrestricted and were pretty fast(in the day).
I never had an issue starting and never blew a piston but it vibrates right through you, just like most 2T's.
I lost mine, so if anyone sees it, please report in...UTH was the last letters.
