Good Points: Ariston AL129x looks stylish and is fairly user friendly.Started off a very quiet machine.
Bad Points: The main bearing has collapsed and will cost $450 approx to repairBecame very noisyWas tempramental about whether to spin or not to spin
General comments: The bearing on my Ariston AL109 came loose after about 18 months use, I have been informed that my service/repair company is reluctant to repair as this model has a habit of coming back for the same repair within 2 years. The problem appears to lie with the 1600cps spin speed and a motor inadequate to cope. Very disappointed and no reason to repair as fault will continue to occur unless machine is only run on the slow spin cycle

Generally, I would consider Ariston AL 109 as a fairly good machine. It uses a minimal amount of water and thus saves a lot on waters bills. However, the machine is not as quiet as before when it does the spin.

I own an Ariston AWD 120 washer/dryer combo that I've owned for about 1 year and 6 months. The first year was great. It washed and dryed as promised. Then little things started going wrong. A wire, a fuse and now I can't get a hold of their service department and I should still be under their two year warranty. These combo energy efficient washers are a great idea but you should go with a big brand name like LG or something. I'm going to get rid of it.

We bought our Ariston AL109 nearly new but second hand. I can guess why they wanted rid, it's the most temperamental machine ever. We've had to replace the pump. The plastic bits in the drum have all broken off leaving metal to cut our clothes. Occasionally for no reason it refuses to do certain cycles, so you have to wash stuff on the wrong cycle to get anything done. Oh and don't get me started on the drying function! All it seemed to do is heat the clothes up, the water didn't seem to go anyw ...

We bought an Ariston AL109 (Margerita 2000) in April, 2002. It was OK for a while (about 6 months) and then it broke down. Since then we've had it repaired 8 or 9 times. They've had to replace the drum and do other repairs to it, and on one occasion it was in the repairer's workshop for about 2 weeks!
I've tried to complain to Ariston a couple of times but they're useless. In February 2005 they told me that a new company had taken over the service contract so they no longer had a record of al ...
