Good Points: The number and type of features. Flash drive function is great. Don't need special software to load or transfer files. Doesn't have irritating restrictions on what is copied off the drive like Iriver and some of the others. Voice/FM record is good. Have used this and it works fairly well. It plays music well. 1 Gig is a nice amount of memory. Fairly durable. It has to be or it would be garbage very quickly. Line in connector is a nice feature to have.

Bad Points: The little control device for adjusting the sound and navigating through the song lists is difficult to use. I'd almost say it's broken but every once in a while when I try to adjust the sound or select a song it seems to work again. I believe this is an engineering flaw. This type of mechanical joy stick type button seems unsuitable for a device like this. Excessively complex. The other weakness is the battery life. I would rather have a slightly larger device with an AA battery and get twice as much play time. Once the device fits easily in your hand getting it to a size that is so small it could slip between your fingers is not required.

General comments: The Samsung YP-T6X is much better than the Iriver portable mp3 player that I had. I find using this as a flash memory device is as important as using it as an mp3 player. I would recommend only buying mp3 players that one can use as a flash drive. Why would anyone want to have to install or use specific software to load songs or remove songs from the player. When the device works like a flash drive all the standard file manager programs in windows, and Linux work with the device. Features I want that I am having trouble finding are: Double A battery based player. Longer play time is useful and valuable. Splash proof player - I don't want to worry about a little rain or a splash of water killing my device.

Bought the Samsung YP-T6X mp3player a few months ago and I am still pleased with it. The encoding is good for my LP collect, but the sound can be poor (has this hiss on it) - but it can be cleaned up on my laptop (using Audio Cleaner). The best feature is the ease of which you can transfer music files (drag and drop) from your computer into it. The only gripe I have with it is the battery life is shorter than what was advertised (normally last around 8 - 10 hours)but that is just a simple case o ...
