I took out a new policy for my son; my initial thoughts were that the price was going to be sky high, turns out Rampdale quote was pretty good on my son’s Direct bike. I was put on hold a couple of times which I wasn’t happy about! But overall experience was good. Thanks Rampdale. (read more)

“no refund”

Written on: 09/11/2012

Bought a 50cc scooter, i insured with Rampdale cost £246, (should have looked more at other insurers) by bike was a dud, brand new as well, after 6 weeks the bike company took it back, Rampdale only refunded me £30.00. were very rude on phone, and basically said £30 is all you will get, DO NOT INSURE ANYTHING WITH THESE PEOPLE, i have another ins now costing £99 per year, Rampdale are cowboys, i will make sure everybody knows not to insure with them. “Pulled over by police for no insurance - Had it for 3...”

Written on: 07/09/2012 by Mike1984 (1 review written)

Just today my Dad left me a voicemail saying “Mike, it’s your Dad, please phone me as soon as possible.” So, naturally I thought worst. I rang him, and he was in the back of a police car (he's a 70 year old man)! Apparently my bike isn’t insured - even though I have a certificate saying it started on the 25th June 2012 at 23:00!!! I found all the documents I have online and told him all the details for the police officer I’ve since emailed the sham of a company (Rampdale)... (read more)

“charges make up for low prices”

Written on: 04/09/2012 by emotree

Been with rampdale about 3months and sick of them alreadycive received 3 recorded letters from the at £20 a pop (those gold lined envelopes don't come cheap anymore) all of which were completely unneeded. 1st one after setting up my direct debit and paying initial lump sum get a letter about a week later saying they were unable to set up the direct debit, after being told on the phone it was done! So give them a ring as there website is useless on hold for 15 minutes only thing they said... (read more)

“Need a lesson in customer service”

Written on: 03/09/2012 by TOMLEECEE (120 reviews written)

Rampdale - a name anyone looking for motorcycle insurance should be wary of. Not because they are a bad insurance company - it's because of the customer service. When you ring them, you will be on hold for at least 20 minutes before you get to speak to anyone. If you try to do anything on the website (like set up and pay for a new premium), you'll undoubtedly be met with a message saying that their system is down/under maintenance. Seriously - trying to contact them is like a test of... (read more)

dont know where to start, my 18 year old lad is facing having his new car licence revoked because of rampdale. we took out a joint moped policy in april 2012, I have a full car licence, and had been riding peds for years, i asked for pillon cover to be added, which is stated on proposal form they emailed me, when the certificate arrived, it said nothing about pillion being excluded, my son passed his car test 0n 11/6/12, which validated his cbt for moped entitlement, just to be on the safe... “£20.00 charge for a letter?!?!”

Written on: 02/08/2012 by Ryandani

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. They charge you for not receiving a cbt licence and proof of ncb. I am discusted that they then charged me £40 as i have provided an wxpired ncb certificate. I am reporting Rampdale to the MIB as they are charging customers for ridiculous things. Avoid avoid avoid even they seem to be the only place to do electric scooter insurance. (read more)

“Good customer service when taking the policy”

Written on: 01/04/2012 by Minayowitz (3 reviews written)

I recently took a motorcycle insurance policy with this company. It was an imported bike so a bit of extra paperwork was required. Communication by phone and email was smooth and the staff I spoke with were friendly and seemed knowledgeable. Very satisfy. Of course most insurance companies are very welcomed when taking up policies and not so great when making a claim so I reserve my opinion on the latter. But based on my first impression they seemed to be on the ball. (read more)

“Do not cancel your insurance without reading this”

Written on: 15/12/2011 by barrycraggs

Took out policy in July 2011, bad weather arrived and heavy winds and felt unsafe travelling to work on bike. Rang Rampdale to enquire about cancelling policy over winter months, was told to return policy with accompanying letter by registered post. We expected around £180 refund as we were told to get the letter there by 15th December before it went into another month, again we were expecting refund.... Received letter 15th December acknowledging receipt of cancellation, however with... (read more)

The policy was paid for on the 11th July 2011 ready for the renewal due on the 15th July 2011 at a price of £200.00 which included a £20.00 administration fee (was disclosed to him). All the relevant documents including policy booklet was despatched to the insured the following day. In these documents we enclosed a letter of introduction which details “Our Terms of Business/ Cancellation Charges”. Any terms are not in small print and have been approved by the financial services.

The customer could have easily worked out if any refund was due by using the policy booklet.

Have had my scooter - a chinese electric model- insured through rampdale for a year. Renewal notice came at an acceptable premium. I tried to renew over the phone (0844 number 10p / min from BTline - which I don't have) but was put through endless menu options and then the call ended. all agents busy. “Only people that will insure a Jonway”

Written on: 08/06/2011 by jonathan kelly (108 reviews written)

In a moment of madness when on ebay I bought a scooter as it was only £315 which seemed unbelievable for a two year old scooter. Having bought the scooter with the money I had just made selling my prvious bike a Kawasaki 750 for only £285. I contacted my insurance company and asked them to change my policy details sorry they said Jonway is not a make we deal with. Another reason I had bought the bike was because it was called a Jonway as my name is Jon. After a lot of hassle I was... (read more)

Rampdale keep pestering me for a £20 administration fee, for a recorded delivery letter I never had. Policy is paid in full, and now say I may have a problem if I make a claim until it is paid. Have asked for proof, but very slow at coming forward with it, may report them to MIB and see what they say. (read more)

Hi

I would like the review to stay on Review Centre in its original form, due to the fact that they finally provided the tracking number for the Recorded Delivery Letter they wanted to charge myself twenty pounds for, and were pestering myself for only to find that the letter is yet to be delivered.

After making a phone call to inform them of the fact, I was informed that they already new because they had checked, with the Royal Mail which they could have done so months ago.

After being defeated by their own stupidity, they decided they wanted to charge myself £50 transfer fee on a £103 policy to an other motorcycle, which if find ludicrous.

I have now asked for the policy to be canceled, but am now suspecting that there will be no refund after 3 months on a fully paid 1 year policy, an absolute shambles and discrase to the motor insurance industry.

Yours Neil Adams.

Rampdale Insurance's Comment

At Rampdale we pride ourselves on not only the price of insurance but the service we provide customers. Unfortunately we aren't able to make everyone happy all of the time, we endeavour where possible to provide customers with as much information as possible. We are aware that when setting up a policy the last thing people want to do is read the Terms and Conditions of the policy, however they are there for a reason and we advised all new and existing policy holders to read them. If you are unhappy with any of the terms with the policy you are within your rights to cancel under the cooling off period. Rampdale are authorised and regulated by the financial service authority and we must adhere to the rules and regulations. We do specify minimum charges for changes to polices in the the documents sent out and also advised that after 8 months cover no refund is due back to the customer. We hope that our customers are happy with the service we provide and would hope anyone seeking insurance would give us a try and see what we can do for them.

tried to cancel my insurance on 20/06/11 over the phone, with 2 months left, they wanted too much to insure my new bike, they told me I had to return certificate, which I duly did, a full month later, still have not had my proof of ncb, my new insurer are know threatening to cancel my new insurance as I cant get my proof of ncb, i wouldnt reccommend rampdale as their customer service is very poor, and you can never get an answer on the phone, I have now written to the MD directly to see if he can sort out my problem

“Set up a policy with Rampdale Motorcycle Insurance,...”

Written on: 14/09/2009 by Sparky81 (1 review written)

Set up a policy with Rampdale Motorcycle Insurance, the service was quite good. I didn't receive the paperwork for a week so called up, they said it was because of the postal strike, which was about the same time so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but it could have been just a handy excuse.

Apart from that, the girl i first spoke to was helpful and the price for fully comp was pretty good, way cheaper than what the bike insurer came up with. (read more)

Rampdale provided me a cheap quote, but upon recieving my cover sheet there were many mistakes. I got these corrected, but as i was planning on picking my bike up the next day i needed a pdf of the cover sheet emailed to the bike shop. Repeatedly i rang and asked them to do it, repeatedly i was told that they had done, untill i asked them to send a copy to me aswell. After this they still claimed they were sending me the email, even though i never recieved it.

I obtained a quote from Rampdale Motorcycle Insurance for a Chinese 150cc trike, at first they said I needed a full bike licence and could not ride it on a car licence. They put me on hold and then confirmed that I was correct and could ride it, they quoted and gave me a reference number. About 2 weeks later I got the trike and tried to insure with the reference number, the operator informed me that I needed a Full motorbike licence because DVLA rules say that. I had been phoning around for cheap quotes, and due to my area (moderate to high crime) I was finding it really hard to find a cheap quote, but Rampdale Motorcycle Insurance offered me an extremely cheap quote (in comparison). I had no no-claims, and I was on a provisional, and I was offered £550, which, compared to the second cheapest I managed to get, which was 735, I was very impressed. The person I spoke to was very clearly spoken, and I never felt rushed, which is uncommon when you... (read more)

I was registering a new Scooter, Rampdale Motorcylce Insurance made an error in names on my policy, I rang to correct, and the person on phone was most helpful, he corrected the names and extended the policy time frame.

I received a letter stating cancellation of the original policy, but the new extension was obviously not entered into the system, and the policy was cancelled.

When I rang to provide Scooter registration, I was told the policy was cancelled. when I explained the... (read more)

Excellent Phone skills. Couldnt go wrong. Very helpful. Everything I asked was answered in a very helpful and profesional manner. It was the lowest quote I have ever got and I presume will be using them again in the future. It was a third of every other quote I had been offerd and I have recomended it to all of my friends and family.

For an 'Aprilla Extrema Chesterfield 125cc' they offerd me £635 instead of the usual £1200-£1500 everyone else had offerd me. So now I am recommending it to all...
