I bought my first and only AEG back in 1999. It was a standard Tokyo Marui AK47. The plastic wood parts had been sprayed black, I didn't care too much it looked pretty good. After a while I got a set of real wood fittings from hong kong or somewhrere, nice quality for a sensible price. I later added a metal receiver kit. I had some regular maintenance done just too make sure it was running right. I've used it for skirmishing many times over 13 years. It has never stopped working. Over 13/14... (read more)

I think Tokyo Marui is an overrated company. The Yes-Boys will flame you for saying this. But I don't care.

Everyone seems to be getting a G36, a MP5, or M4/16. What do these 3 guns have in common? They're all the "good" guys' weapons. These 3 guns also have to have a small battery making them less effective in the field. Unlike these 3 guns, the Tokyo Marui AK 47 is able to hold a large battery in its stock. I have used lots of airsoft guns, starting off with spring guns. The Toyko Marui AK-47 is by far my favorite. Right out of the box, it is a powerful and accurate tool for picking off your enemies on the airsoft field. Nice balance and weight, and frighteningly realistic. My initial worry was that the plastic stock pieces would look very fake--no problem because I could make real wood ones in my woodshop. However, the plastic looks fantastic and has a very nice feel. A beautiful machine. (read more)

The AK47 by marui is one of their most reliable AEG's, and also quite popular. Because of this, there are many upgrades and accessories available. these range from scope mounts to stronger springs.
the plastic wood 'furniture' on the stock and foregrip is very realistic, and looks like real wood even when up close.
As this has a long barrel, it is more accurate than airsoft pistols or SMG's. The longer barrel also gives it a tiny bit more power, but this is barely noticeable.
A bonus is...

Nice review thanks, I'm one of the 'everyone else' with an M4A1, but love the looks of the AK-47.

If it broke after 300 minutes then i can guarantee that it was either defective, or definitely not a Tokyo Marui.
