Great efficient service from the GEM controller with call backs to check on our safety and circumstances. It would've been 5 stars but the timings given by the recovery company to GEM were underestimated by 100% I would rather have been told up front it would be a two and a bit hour wait than to be told it would be 40 minutes and left getting a bit frustrated and very cold. Our elderly Zafira would not move on an icy morning this week-the handbrake cable had frozen due to having water in it. Very polite and helpful operator and the breakdown truck came within the hour. Very friendly on the phone but efficient considering the amount of information that was needed. The local breakdown specialist phoned me when he was on his way which was within the time advised on my initial call. The local specialist was friendly and knowledgeable. I just had a flat battery but he had the car started quickly and gave sound advice for follow up care. Recently had to use this service for the first time when my car wouldn't start. My initial call was answered promptly and the agent said she would have a mechanic there within the hour - the mechanic rang twice whilst I was waiting to give me an update on the estimated arrival and he duly arrived within the promised 1 hour. When I rang GEM there was some confusion with the problem I had, and I did ask that Beeches Recovery must not be sent, as I have had two experiences with them, and the statement from the driver that "I don't know anything about modern cars" did not inspire confidence. Let me start by saying that the gentleman who attended to my car was excellent. Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the response time to my call for help. It took 1 & 1/2 hours to attend to my car. I would think that this response time would be regarded as poor by your company. I was told that this company is one of the best in its field of work. “Home Start help”

When the engine management warning light came on and the engine limiter kicked in we knew the car was going nowhere. One call to GEM and the customer service agent listened to the problem, talked us through our options and agreed a date and time for the mechanic to come out. The phone calls confirming the need was still there and confirming times were very helpful and handled well. “2 callouts.”

I had to call out the breakdown service on two consecutive days. The 1st day was excellent and the garage arrived in 40 minutes. The battery was faulty ( since been exchanged under guarantee for a new one). The 2nd callout was a total disaster.It took 1hr & 30 mins for breakdown service to arrive. I had to ring the call centre 3 times.
