Catastrophic failure of braking system in West London - Manufacturer advised "slider towing essential". GEM told of situation but insisted on sending a mechanic first to "get the car mobile". I can't fault the service we recieved from GEM at all - very polite, helpful and caring, and a very quick return of my RECLAIM expenditure. When I had a tyre burst on my car recently, rather than try to change it, I decided to make use of Gem Breakdown cover for the first time since becoming a member some years ago. So there I was, driving along, when I heard a loud crack and experienced great difficulty controlling my Aixam quadricycle. My family and myself have been members of GEM for seven years, there are five of us all with our own cars. I had to ring Gem after my car conked out in a car park. Upon ringing them, there was no menu system and no waiting, it was straight through to an operator, who was friendly and helpful. Despite it not being an emergency, it was only 35 minutes until the mechanic turned up. He couldn't fix it on the spot, but he identified the problem. Phoned GEM who answered quickly and were friendly and efficient. They took down my details and arranged a local garage to send out a mechanic within 30 minutes. My problem was diagnosed quickly, which was a seized brake pad, and was repaired sufficiently for me to drive to a recommended local garage for new brake pads to be fitted.
