From initial call to the call centre to the recovery truck arriving was very fast . Recovery driver diagnosed fault unfortunately unable to repair at roadside. “Left low and wet”

Having got stuck in ford I'd used often before the initial response was excellent. I paid up front for a potential special tow if required and all was fine. The response from the nearest tow company was equally fast. Except they told me they didn't recover from water and that was that. Gem didn't have an alternative so I sorted myself out. Car battery flat on home driveway due to interior light being left on. Phoned recovery number, extremely helpful operator organised garage to attend home address within around 30 minutes, fixed immediately with no fuss and good advice from the garage gem nominated. Submitted refund claim on line, paid in full direct to bank account with e mail confirmation sent to me. You could not ask for better service, a commodity rarely found these days. GEM very efficiently organised collection of my wife's car from our front drive after a front spring collapsed and had the car transported to our local garage for repair. Had to do a home call out as my car wouldn't start. Having rung GEM I got a call back to confirm the time of the recovery firm's planned arrival and the driver rang again just before he got to us. Having fully examined the car and checked the battery charge (which was actually very good) he decided it was a garage job. Fantastic support from GEM following a complete breakdown of my vehicle when I was travelling with my two small children. I was kept fully informed at all times, had a number of courtesy calls to ensure that I was being sealt with and the recovery vehicle was with me within 30 minutes. I was a passenger in the car that broke down on the M1 traveling South from Leeds. The driver did not have breakdown cover but I had Gem Assist. Phoned Gem, they were brilliant. I called early one morning when the car wouldn't start and I needed to get to work. The call handler was very patient and reassuring and response from the friendly breakdown mechanic was very prompt. Everything was good including the response time of 35 minutes except I asked GEM if the breakdown company could be asked to bring and install a new battery when they visited. On speaking to the breakdown company they had not been asked. We have been with GEM now for 5 years. We cannot fault this company. Their call out time is faultless and the mechanics they've sent out for local garages have always been friendly, honest, genuine and helpful. In 2012 we had to be towed 200 miles up the country back home after dpf issues at the inlays. The mechanic/driver was fabulous....esp as we had our 3 girls with us....aged just 4, 2 and 6 week old newborn. Wouldn't go anywhere else now… Read Full Review

“Super service when used for the first time”

Called GEM when my car would not start. Even when I explained that it was not an emergency and actually anytime over the next 24 hours would be fine, the GEM 'man' arrived within 20 minutes. He correctly diagnosed the problem as being with the starter motor and put me touch with a nearby garage who picked the car up the following day and repaired it.
