Reluctantly i have given 1 star rating as it is a required field. Having purchased Gem breakdown cover for my daughter she had cause to phone for recovery for her and her car, she was told to expect a wait of upto an hour, not to bad, hour and a half later still waiting so phoned again and told recovery agent stuck in traffic and will be with her within half an hour,after waiting another hour i phoned myself after a very long wait of 17 minuits on hold to speak to them, i was told they cant get… Read Full Review

“Failed clutch unit”

Initial response from office was fast and efficient, although their insistence on reading out all terms and conditions was a bit tedious and almost flattened my phone battery. Arrival of repair truck took just under 1 hour, but was not in a position to do an immediate recovery (even though I had phoned in the breakdown as a major clutch failure). Had to wait for another 50 minutes or so - recovery took place just under 2 hours from original call… Read Full Review

“Took their time !!!”

I called for assistance at 7.55am and after an hour and a half was told that GEM couldn't get anyone to take the job!. I received a call from Burke Brothers recovery at 11.20am to say they were coming from Wolverhampton and they would be with me at around 2pm !!!. They arrived at 2.10pm. Over 6 hours to get someone to me is very poor service and is only slightly redeemed by the fast reimbursement of the recovery cost. DEFINITELY COULD DO BETTER GEM !!!… Read Full Review

As ever the GEM crew were on the ball. Excellent, quick service to help resolve the issue. Made under difficult circumstances, surrounded by other vehicles, my 4x4 was recovered with no issues. A fuel line blockage meant the vehicle could not be driven. It was recovered to the Garage of my choice. Within 10 days the fees are in my bank to enable me to pay the bill. “recovery from suffolk to bedfordshire 29.05.16”

Disgraceful service on this occasion. Staff members did not pass on vital pieces of information. I initially phoned 3.10pm and told the operative exactly what the problem was, (a hose had split, so this was a simple case of replacing the hose and we could have been on our way.) This information was not passed on, so when the repair man arrived to my vehicle, he did not have a hose on board, so could not help, meaning we had to wait for recovery. Motorcycle died 20 miles from home! A quick call to Gem and less than an hour later a purpose-built motorcycle recovery vehicle arrived. The operator quickly confirmed my diagnosis and within 10 minutes the bike was loaded in the van and we were on the road back to my home were the bike was quickly and efficiently unloaded.. I broke down in Central London and called GEM. Very courteous and helpful when I called for help; then follow-up calls until the recovery vehicle arrived, at which point I was wished a safe journey home. Throughout this I felt that the call centre assistant was taking personal responsibility for making sure I got home safe and sound. My daughter attempted to fill her car with petrol at a local garage but flooded the forecourt with petrol instead. GEM came promptly to the scene and diagnosed a split fuel inlet hose. “Car with Caravan breakdown”

Very happy with the service, we bokedown (Aux belt) with our caravan in tow in Norfolk on a Saturday afternoon, GEM's phone rep took all the details and was polite and helpfull. The repair mechanic was from Tears recovery, who was exellent, sourced a new belt from Kings Lynn and got us underway, we were delayed by 3 hrs, which was not to bad for a busy Saturday afternoon… Read Full Review

He arrived within 30mins, quickly diagnosed the problem ,and got us back on the road. The engineer was very friendly and efficient. Researched all the providers of this kind of service. It was like in the old days when you got honest no nonsense replies to your questions and true fully protective cover without lot of key exclusions. The price was cheaper than all the major competitors. Next stage i used the service when my motorbike battery was flat in my garage. “bank holiday breakdown”

Speedy time to get to me and my daughter broken down on busy dual carriageway.Car was under warranty so as bank holiday decided to store overnight and deliver to dealer in the morning. However had to chase late afternoon as car still hadn't been taken to dealer which was somewhat annoying and resulted in a delay getting car repaired.
