Good Points: Excellent guide.
Bad Points: The most disappointing part of the cruise was the food. The quality of the basic ingredients was below average as was the preparation. A few dishes were very good but these were few and far between. They served beef almost every night and it was not tender. The food on the buffet was not as hot has it should have been.
General comments: We cruises the Nile on the MS Terramar from Oct. 29th to Oct 5th 2008. We had a great time thanks to our excellent guide. The weather was perfect, not to hot and not to cool. Mornings were cool but it warmed up quickly. By mid day the temperatures were in the mid 80's F.
The cabins were large with a sitting area with an LCD TV, a mini bar, table and chairs, and a couch which was not very comfortable. Adjacent to this was bedroom with a king size bed very firm but comfortable. Other than sleeping we spent very little time in the room. A typical day was touring temples in the morning and sitting on the top deck in the afternoon enjoying the cruise on the Nile. The most disappointing part of the cruise was the food. The quality of the basic ingredients was below average as was the preparation. A few dishes were very good but these were few and far between. They served beef almost every night and it was not tender. The food on the buffet was not has hop has it should have been.Other areas of where problems came up included prohibiting us from taking glasses from our cabin to the top deck, only having instant coffee at diner and then charging for it, their process of keeping track of your purchases on board was not as efficient as it could have been in that sometimes you were ask to sign for purchases that took place the day before or longer. There were some commutation problems in that the staff's knowledge of English was limited to key words. This however was a minor annoyance.
Overall the quality of the ship in my opinion was not five stars.

I did the MS Terramar cruise with my mom and older sister. I was the youngest on the boat but was treated as equally as the other passengers. Our tour guide was brilliant and could answer any questions we had. I think we were very lucky to have been put on board the Ms Terramar! There are 20 cabins on the boat and there were enough sun beds on the top deck for two each as there were only 15 of us on board. The excursions were amazing and I took over 500 photos! You even got the chance to do extr ...

The MS Terramar was a fantastic boat to sail on and the excursions provided were fabulous (once you got over the 6 o'clock wake up times!). The staff were friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our guide was brilliant and funny, giving the right balance of information and free time to explore. The on board entertainment was limited but the traditional dancers/singers were good. The ball was entertaining and you do need to be prepared to take something with you or buy a costu ...

General comments on the boat -
Extremely clean and well furnished - public areas
Same for the cabins - lower deck cabins are huge
Staff were always polite and attentive and nothing was too much trouble
Food was very good with plenty of choice
Had no problem with the drinks and no one ripped us off
Evening entertainment wasn't brilliant but what there was (especially the Galabya night) was fantastic with everyone joining in
The passengers - eleven English and t ...

From the minute we stepped onto the the Terramar we knew it would be something special. Our arrival was around 7.30pm and we were immediately shown into the dining room, whilst our bags were taken to our cabin.
General observations -
The cabin on the lower deck was spacious, clean, comfortable with two huge windows. Change of bed linen daily - towels twice daily - it makes a big difference. The bathroom was small but the shower was amazing - continuous hot water whatever the time of day.
The st ...

The boat was very nice, clean and we had a huge cabin on the lower deck. The sun deck was really nice with 2 large undercover sitting areas and plenty of sundecks (undercover and in the sun). The food was plentiful and enough courses if you didn't like something. We could not fault the boat and standard at all and I think it was one of the best boats. It made it more peaceful with just 20 cabins and a smaller amount of people and this was definitely a plus when it came to the tours.
There were a ...

I travelled to Egypt in March this year alone. I was very nervous but my fears were soon alleviated by the fellow passengers showing such kindness and being so friendly. It was my first cruise holiday and I thoroughly enjoyed myself aboard the MS Taramarr nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff aboard you were made to feel a very special customer. The person who made it a very special holiday was the tour guide the knowledge he imparts to us who he refers to as the Pharaohs is immense. ...

We have just returned from a 7-day cruise on the Terramar followed by a further 7 days on the Red Sea and it was a fantastic experience. Our tour guide, made the visits to the temples extremely interesting and his enthusiasm allowed him to be informative without us feeling we were being treated to a lecture. I didn't realize just how much I had learned from him until on my return I looked at a book I had purchased before the holiday. ALL the staff were so friendly and helpful, one evening one ...

We were a party of 4 and have just returned from a 2 centre holiday, 1st week on the Terramar, 2nd week on the Red Sea. We couldn't fault the Terramar - suites & public areas were very clean and comfortable & the food was excellent. The staff were efficient and friendly; nothing was too much trouble. Special praise for our tour guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his country's ancient history. His enthusiasm couldn't help but rub off and we felt finished the week m ...

The majority of the reports you will read on the MS Terramar will tell you that it is an exceptional Nile boat and it is. However, my report will also include some details that are not in the brochures.
Firstly, Egyptian money: my advice is to obtain it prior to leaving home as the opportunities to change into Egyptian pounds when on board are severely limited and, as explained below, the opportunities to locate an exchange bureau when ashore are virtually nil. However, the need to use Egyptia ...

I have just come back from a seven day cruise end of January 2008, on the Terramar having booked the holiday through Thomas Cook. The boat only has 20 suites whereas most of the others tend to have more. This was a holiday that I have always intended to undertake as Egypt is the biggest outdoor museum in the world. Everybody knows about the Valley of the Kings which is awesome, but Abu Simbel is equally impressive, and well worth the money, the flight being about 30 mins. For the whole seven day ...

My husband and I enjoyed our stay on board MS Terramar that much we are going to again in January 2008. Our guide and Egyptologist from Blue Sky Travel Group was fantastic and extremely informative, all the staff on board really made our holiday - one we will never forget. The food, service and standard of cleanliness were all excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday without any hesitation.

We have just got back from our 7 night cruise down the Nile on M/S Terramar. What a fabulous holiday it was. I lost count of how many temples we visited but each one was amazing. M/S Terramar had recently been refurbished around August time, and the interior was unbelievable, our suite was quite large and clean, with fabulous views out of the two large windows onto the Nile. The food was fabulous and I needn't have worried about me being a fussy eater - I only had to ask once for the beef to ...

Our Nile Cruise on the MS Terramar was an unbelievable experience and it can't be faulted. If you want to relax, sunbathe and don't like early mornings then it's not for you. Otherwise, it's amazing, to go on holiday, learn about another culture and ancient Egyptian civilisation too, having great fun at the same time. It is the best combination for a decent holiday. Thanks to Amro who made it all the more fantastic, you're the best!

The holiday, on the whole, was amazing and we loved every minute of it. It was the best holiday we've ever been on and I would recommend it to anyone. Our guide, Sadaka, was brilliant and the rest of the staff were friendly too. The food was great and the pool was nice and cold, which cooled you down after the heat. All the excursions were very good, except the balloon flight, as it didn't set off because of low visibility, which wasn't the fault of Blue Sky Travel or the staff on the MS Terrama ...

We have just returned from a 7 night Thomas Cook cruise on MS Terramar and would like to recommend this trip and this boat to everyone. Food, accomodation, crew, facilities were all first class, the fact that a maximum number of 40 people on-board made it extra special, everybody got to know each other in no time at all. Our tour was Amro Ghanem, his knowledge of ancient Egypt was first class.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, this is not for you. If you are unable to walk far or do not like too much sun, this is not for you. 5 early morning starts, up at 6 am, the coolest time to visit the temples, and 3 evening tours. There is enough to do without the extra visits but as you have gone all that way, see as much as you can. It's fascinating. The only visit I was not impressed with was the sound and light show at Luxor temple in the evening. It went on too long. Look out for t ...

This is a brilliant holiday. It is not often that I can totally switch off on holiday but I was completely turned off within hours of joining the ship, even the early starts for the excursions were no problem. The crew are so friendly and helpful, you just get the feeling that they really enjoy their work. There were 14 British and 20 East Germans on board. All the Brits gelled together right from the start. We encouraged the Germans to join in but most of them were pretty reserved. Our gui ...

This was an absolutely fantastic holiday on a superb ship with fantastic crew and guide. Yes, there are early starts, 3 at 6AM and 2 at 4AM for us but you need that to fit it all in and avoid the afternoon heat. We really enjoyed the sailing along the Nile really close up to everyday life going on on it's banks. The excursion to the Tombs and Temples were really enjoyable and brought to life by our fantastic guide Amro. The boat was full with 40 guests but there was still lots of room and never ...

This holiday started off good and got better every day. Up at 6am everyday, so we avoided walking around in the Midday heat, back on the ship to sunbathe in the afternoon. One morning we were up at 3.30am because we had a three hour coach journey to Abba Simbel which was the best palace we saw, don't miss out on this trip. The entertainment on board was excellent, there were 16 English people and 15 Germans. Food was good, as mentioned, the drinks were cheap, Coke and Seven Up only 80p. A fu ...
