I used the 5.1 truffle and the base color was beautiful but when I did the highlights they came out bright orange on the top and nothing on the bottom. I know I applied the color evenly and it just turned out to be a disaster.

LOreal Color Experte was A a big dissapointment!Messy, time consuming, extremely fiddly!

I have used #9 Natural Blonde for quite a few years. I colored my hair yesterday with the same box I have been buying and it turned out darker and reddish - not really blond at all. Did they change the color without telling anyone? Or was my box incorrectly filled with the wrong color? I don't have the box, but I know I always double check the color on the box and the color listed on the bottle. Needless to say, I'm not very happy!

My hair is dark brown, I used 6.1 French Eclair. The base color is great, but as others here are saying, the highlights were a disaster!
Highlights did not turn out a cool gold/caramel as stated on box - they are ORANGE - as in like a pumpkin. Good thing it is close to Halloween! I hope someone reads this before trying, I found this too late.

The color did not turn out the same on my hair as the color shown on the box. Light Golden Brown?! My base color turned out dark, with very red tones.
My son said it looked like cherry coke! I did the highlights and that helped lighten the overall look. Hoping that after a few washings it will start to resemble the color in the picture. One more concern....My hair feels sticky, heavy, limp, like I have a lot of product build up. I have washed my hair twice, very thoroughly, and it still feels this way. Has anyone else gotten this result?
Overall, I would rate this product a 3. Yes, it was a great package and concept...but the color result is what matters the most. I am not happy with this color or the condition of my hair at all!

I wouldn't buy it again. I was so tired of my brown hair, but I don't think anyone could hate their hair more than I do now. I never thought that I could miss my brown hair so much!

I also used this product, I used the ash brown with caramel highlights. My hair is a medium brown the highlights turned orange and the ash brown turned parts of my hair black.
I have spent equal amounts of money buying products to correct the color that I would have spent if I had just went to the salon.

I wanted warm highlights and bought the 6.1 French Eclair. My hair IS dark brown. On the box it states "French Eclair is a cooler shade that will help minimize red/orange tones. Personal Highlights will turn from beige to gold." I am so disappointed and I hope this review will help some other poor soul realize that you should go to a salon. Now I have to go to Sally's and try to fix my own mess because I am thoroughly embarrassed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will NOT buy this again, I did see some other comments that noted the same thing, there is no middle ground here, either you love it or hate it..

My hair is medium brown, and I bought the package that said "light golden brown"- well, it dyed my hair a weird dark red, and I did follow the directions exactly. I didn't even bother with doing the highlights, because the base color was nothing near what it was supposed to be in the first place.
I do not look good with this dark red hair, and now will have to spend who knows how much at a salon getting it fixed. I wish I'd never touched that box. I would not buy this again - the color does not come out anywhere near what it's supposed to, even when following the directions exactly.

My mom was the one that actually tried this hair product. (And I was with her when she was doing it)
The paste stuff to make the highlights was very disapointing..it was like..hard suger and flour mixed with water, very chunky and hardish. It didn't glide onto the hair that nicely, so when her hair was dry afterward you barely noticed any highlights. And yes, like everyone says..we both read and followed the instructions carefully.

I won't buy L'oreal Color Expert hair color again! The color itself came out nowhere near to what it was supposed to be, and then I did the highlights (which were a huge pain in the butt and very hard to do) and they turned my hair orange. (my hair was like a medium mahogany brown before, and I went to the Light brown (natural) 6.0 and this is what happened. So, if you have darker hair, be careful and don't try to go more than a shade lighter!!!

I wanted to save myself $60+ dollars a month @ the salon so I bought Lo real color. Expert in color 8.3. The first time I used it the color came out beautiful. When it came time to redo my hair after 2 months, I bought the same color as before. This time I got ORANGE HAIR!! Today is Sunday, so my color is not at her shop. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, the next day is Christmas. That being said, I have to walk around with this hair for 3 days at the least!!

This was a total disaster - my highlights had been cut off and, attempting to save the £100 salon price, I bought colour experte. The base colour was actually quite nice, but when the highlights went on they were impossible to control, even though we followed the instructions exactly. My hair is fine, and when I laid each highlighted strand down, it just spread the colour onto the base hair. I ended up with horrible orange lumps and had to go out first thing the next morning, and buy another permanent colour to cover it up. Never, ever again.

LOreal Color Experte - Ginger Twist 6.4 - a Light Golden Copper Brown.
I am a (dyed) redhead. My red had started to fade to a sandy color, as it usually does around week 7. So, I thought I'd try this. It was close to what I already was, but would have freshened up the color.
It turned my hair MEDIUM BROWN with no red to be found!!!! How in the heck did this happen?
I didn't even bother with the highlights. I will be buying my normal brand tomorrow and praying for the best.

The same thing happened to me. I used the same color as well and only left the bleach in for ten minutes. I had applied the bleach on the bottom first as well but the top is so much lighter and orange then the bottom of my head. Very disappointed, this is the first time my hair turned out so bad from doing it myself.
