I admit that I went onto a colour product but wanted to go back to LOreal colour Experte to get a base colour and highlight in one box to do in one session. I had tried this product in the past and was impressed. I have tried to locate the product at boots rotherham and meadowhall, then at superdrug and other stores in same area to no avail. I loved the idea of choosing the base colour and complimentory highlightes. I loved the idea of the simple two step process to be done at home. The... (read more)

I've been using this product for years and it's never let me down. Now I can't find it anywhere. I've bought a couple of different types inc John Frieda's new foam colour which was awful and my hair colour was totally dowdy, now tried another l'oreal products and quite frankly it's dull, dull, dull. Not a happy bunny. I really hope it is not off the market. Will have to check online for it I guess as judging from the comments here it's likely it has been discontinued. (read more)

I have used L'Oreal Color Experte (Toasted Coconut 8.0) for several years. I have had many compliments from friends, strangers, and hairdressers. It's so easy to use, the color always looks amazing, and best of all I can choose where and how thick I want my highlights. The only problem I have is that right now I can't find it anywhere. Has it been discontinued???? I really hope not.... (read more)

I used the 5.1 truffle and the base color was beautiful but when I did the highlights they came out bright orange on the top and nothing on the bottom. I know I applied the color evenly and it just turned out to be a disaster. (read more)

I too would like to know why L'Oreal have taken Coleur Experte (French Eclair) off the market.
My hairdresser says the colour is lovely and could not believe I did this at home by myself and not at a salon.
I had no idea they were discontinuing this hair product until I needed to purchase it again, I phoned L'Oreal up but was told that it had something to do with sales.
Please bring this back L'Oreal.

I have naturally dark brown hair, but have lightened it to medium or light brown. I really liked the way that the 6.1 French Eclair turned out for me. My hair never lightens well when I do it myself and I always get a reddish result, so I was expecting the worst. Maybe because of that I was extra careful to place the highlights so that that they were subtle and I only left it on for 15 minutes before washing them out. Besides the base color being a little dark, I am pretty happy with... (read more)

I have used #9 Natural Blonde for quite a few years. I colored my hair yesterday with the same box I have been buying and it turned out darker and reddish - not really blond at all. Did they change the color without telling anyone? Or was my box incorrectly filled with the wrong color? I don't have the box, but I know I always double check the color on the box and the color listed on the bottle. Needless to say, I'm not very happy! (read more)

I love the full coverage, especially for my grays. The highlights are easy to apply. I have been asked by many people what salon does my color and can't believe that I do myself. Wish the color wouldn't fade so fast, even with the use of their color conditioner. A bit expensive compared to one colored applications, but really like LOreal Color Experte overall. (read more)

This is the first time I've used an all over color (I used the Praline) and the first time in several years that I've done my own highlights. LOVED the result - the base color was great and the highlights looked completely natural. I'm much happier than I've been with many of the salon jobs I've gotten and for sooooo much less money. I've been getting compliments left and right and will definitely use this product again. (read more)

If you stay close to your natural color or current color, the product stays true. You must know that certain people that color their hair will turn reddish. If you have ever colored your hair before you will know this. I have used this product for about three years and have used three different shades. I have always received compliments on my color and many of my friends thought I was going to a salon. If you apply this color right you will save $ - the rpice is generally around $15 -... Loreal Color Experte is THE best hair dye that stayed on my hair. Best yet! Color is true and deep. Highlights do not run or spread onto other hair. I came to this after using other L'Oreal hair dyes (and came to L'Oreal after using other products.

The color did not turn out the same on my hair as the color shown on the box. Light Golden Brown?! My base color turned out dark, with very red tones.
My son said it looked like cherry coke! I did the highlights and that helped lighten the overall look. Hoping that after a few washings it will start to resemble the color in the picture. One more concern....My hair feels sticky, heavy, limp, like I have a lot of product build up. I have washed my hair twice, very thoroughly, and it still... (read more)

I wanted warm highlights and bought the 6.1 French Eclair. My hair IS dark brown. On the box it states "French Eclair is a cooler shade that will help minimize red/orange tones. Hard to understand the negative comments - this is the easiest product to use with guaranteed great, natural looking results. I've used it for at least 3 years and it's foolproof - I find not taking the highlight right to the root but starting a few millimetres from the root gives a very natural highlight and using a light hand and two good mirrors so you can see the back and sides helps when putting the highlights in.
Hardest part is choosing the colour you want - to only use the base... (read more)

My hair is medium brown, and I bought the package that said "light golden brown"- well, it dyed my hair a weird dark red, and I did follow the directions exactly. I didn't even bother with doing the highlights, because the base color was nothing near what it was supposed to be in the first place.

This product gets easier to use with practice. I only apply highlights to the hair on the top of my head and at the front and sides only (any more and it just looks a mess). In my opinion the colour on the box isn't a true representation of how your hair will look and it is definitely best to do a strand test first. Mine looked fine to start with then after 3 weeks I was left with hair that began to look ginger (biscotti, natural blonde) after several more washes it looks a lot lighter... (read more)

My mom was the one that actually tried this hair product. (And I was with her when she was doing it)
The paste stuff to make the highlights was very disapointing..it was like..hard suger and flour mixed with water, very chunky and hardish. It didn't glide onto the hair that nicely, so when her hair was dry afterward you barely noticed any highlights. And yes, like everyone says..we both read and followed the instructions carefully. This color lasts longer than any other I've tried and I've tried them all. That's why I pay 20 bucks for it. Color is very true to description. I won't buy L'oreal Color Expert hair color again! The color itself came out nowhere near to what it was supposed to be, and then I did the highlights (which were a huge pain in the butt and very hard to do) and they turned my hair orange. So, if you have darker hair, be careful and don't try to go more than a shade lighter!!! (read more)

This was a total disaster - my highlights had been cut off and, attempting to save the £100 salon price, I bought colour experte. The base colour was actually quite nice, but when the highlights went on they were impossible to control, even though we followed the instructions exactly. LOreal Color Experte - Ginger Twist 6.4 - a Light Golden Copper Brown.
I am a (dyed) redhead. My red had started to fade to a sandy color, as it usually does around week 7. So, I thought I'd try this. It was close to what I already was, but would have freshened up the color.
