Owned one for some 15 years. When it works it works beautifully, lob bismuth or steel 31/2 inch through it's overbored ten bore barrels with impressive results. However it might as well have been a single barrel. When you pump if the gun is pointed skywards it drops the second cartridge down into the receiver at an angle and jams every time. The slide release is immediately behind the trigger so as soon as you fire a heavy load cartridge the recoil causes your second figure to hit the... (read more)

Bought new 12 to 15 years ago. Right out of box jammed. Couldn't run two rounds in a row through it. Next day took it back to store and clerk I bought it from said most people have this same problem. They just send them in and they get fixed for free. WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THEY ARE JUNK BEFORE I BOUGHT IT? Anyway they sent it in, got it back and it still jams. When you shoot the 3-1/2 inch ammo it feels like it is going to fall apart. Two other friends bought them about same time.... (read more)

Have owned my Mossburg 835 for 3 years. First year I shot 3"-31/2" regular shells for hunting. excellent gun out to 35-40 yrds. you can increase your range by 12-15 yrds more by shooting Nitro ammunition. This shell is a custom made round for any shotgun owned. It is expensive ($151.00) for box of 25. But after doing pattern firing, the round for round bird kill, distance shooting and true kill ratio is well worth it. You wont miss!!! I also own and hunt w/mossburg 500. 28" barrel with a... I purchased the Mossberg 835 about ten years ago. It was packaged with the rifled slug barrel and extra full turkey barrel. What a bargain! The slug barrel has proven accuracy well beyond 100 yards with the cheapest of slugs. When I use a premier sabot, wow like a rifle to 150 yds - no questions asked. 200 yds maybe! Turkeys out to 50 yards, look out! Tight hard hitting patterns no doubt! Driving rain - no worry. Sleet - no worry. Snow squalls - no worry. I have several other shotguns and... (read more)

The mossberg 835 is an amazing firearm . I have owned it for about six years and use it at the skeet range and in the duck blind. The gun and I have never been out performed by my more experienced buddies and their more expensive benelli's. The only problem I have experienced was due to poor maintenance when the screw that holds the shell ejector in place rattled out. That was quickly replaced with lock tight and has never happened again. This gun is punished for an average of 500 (+/-)... (read more)

Mossberg 835 Multi Mag-Pump Action beats any other pump action gun in patterns for the money.

Highly recommended if you want extremely tight patterns from a pump shot gun.

This is a good tough workhorse of a gun. I own two Brownings, one Winchester and three Mossbergs two of which are 835's. This is the best all around gun and is affordable. I use it all the time. Put on a sling and the weight is no longer an issue. I have also found the synthetic stock and 26 inch barrel to be better balanced than the 28 inch barrel with the wood stock. not for nothing, but what shells were you using? i have both the 835 ultimag and a maverick arms model 88 (mossberg 500) and neither of them will shoot winchester game loads (2 3/4" - 3 1/4 dram eq. - 1 oz - # 8). the shell casings are too thin and buldge in a pump gun enough to lock the shell in the chamber and jam the hell out of the action. so in short, may not be the gun, could've been the ammo...

I purchased an 835 a few years ago mainly because of the price. I quickly found out that you really do get what you pay for. When I took that gun to a local dove field I experienced a lot of cycling problems. Either the shell (a 2.75) would get stuck in the chamber or the ejector would have problems taking the shell out of the chamber causing a double feed. Needless to say, it made for a miserable day. The same happened when I decided to give it another chance and took it to a duck... (read more)

Regretably I had some problems with this gun with potential safety hazards. The first problem is with the synthetic stock. There seems to be an insufficiant ammount of non-reinforced material on the lower sling eye ...mine broke the first time I hung it on my shoulder. The second problem has something to do with the elevator arm (don't know what though). The gun is prone to ejecting the second unfired shell along with the inital expended round. This is enfuriating if you plan to shoot more... (read more)

I have the same gun you do, this might help you, I did it myself, same problem works great now. with the swivel screw to short i drilled out the threads in swivel cap just to remove the threads same size hole now buy "uncle mikes fine thread swivel set." Go to home depot get a steel nylone locking nut and flat lockwasher insert fine thread swivel with plastic washer that came with the swivels in barrel cap screw put lockwasher and nut on tighten just to the point of lose tight put cap on position eye hole with sling and then put nail or rod threw the swivel hole and tighten with a socket ratchet till it won't bu with swivel attached better than new. Second issue is to complete the action go get some tetra gun grease and hopps gun oil and disassemble the firearm read the manual will tell the rest it works for me great

to attach a sling to this weapon it is done on the tube cap. there is a small screw that comes with the weapon at time of purchase. tighten it into the cap as a self tighting screw. mount your sling swivels to the cap. suggestion: do not lock tight the screw cause you will have to remove the sling for take down.........
