“Too Awesome!!!”

written by prince22 on 10/03/2013

For someone like myself who had limited riding experience and wanted to enhance my skills. Selecting a bike that best accommodated those needs, the right bike was very important to me. I currently own a 2005 Dyna FXDI. This was my first bike I've ever purchased. I added a few compliments to the bike, Screaming Eagle pipes, Leather saddle bags and a few chrome plates. I absolutely, whole heartily love this bike. Why pay for therapy, when all you have to do is get on a Dyna. Talk about value, maximum resale and limited. I feel like I'm part of an elite community of current and past Dyna owners. Too Awesome:

“Superglide Sport 2004”

★★★★★

written by Muckers... on 17/10/2012

I rode most Japanese bikes in my time, this bike changed everything about motorcycling for me. Looks, sound, raw appeal. It encompasses everything which most other motorcycles will never do, both in power and chill factors, and adds a smile that every time I look in the mirror, pisses even me off! Its got that James Dean appeal, and makes you feel like there is a story line in every trip.

She will turn heads, Like Meatloaf, she is a "silver black phantom bike", When I first got her, she had screaming eagles on her, but she blew them off. So we replaced them with Vance Hines, and this time put an aluminium tap in each..that day she blew them off as well...I soon realised that this bike had attitude, and demanded a rider with a greater imagination..lol..So this time we used stainless steel taps and designed a bracket just on the off chance that she would buckaroo once more. So far so good!!...and believe me she's good. That good I named her Bessie, for beast and best. She's mine now, till the very end, a bat out of hell...and like the imagination itself, a dream come true.

“My two years living with a Harley”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LOCKANDLOAD on 18/09/2011

I bought my super glide second hand and over a period of time realised how poor it was. The brakes were poor and thats being kind The handling was brick like and all I wanted to do was get across a roundabout without grinding the foot pegs. Try using it to commute to work on and watch the thin chrome and finish rust in front of your eyes Parts can take months to arrive But it looked and sounded good and if thats all you want then get one if you want to actually use a motorcycle for whats its meant to be .....DONT

I have owned Harley Davidsons for more than thirty years. They have always been good bikes to me. They are not Japanese sport bikes. They are what they are. My current bike is a 82 FXRS Shovelhead Superglide 2, rubber mounted, 5 speed. In my opinion the best Harley ever made. I ride it daily. Put on 10-12 thousand miles a year. For the Harley line up you can't beat the Superglide. Sounds like you should of stayed with the Jap bikes. Most of my friends own Dyna Superglides, even my wife.

I purchased my fxdi 35 new and added a standard stage one with screaming eagle pipes. The bike is one of the best Harley's I've ever riden; it handles well and has near perfect balance. Last year I had a big bore kit added which involved new cams, new management system and an increased 1550 capacity. I also had the gas flows smoothed out: all of which added a massive 20% more power. The only negative I have is that the bike has had two relay failures, which I understand from the mechanics is a known issue, if you don't have a spare handy you are buggered... Tip, for 10$ keep a spare set. Great bike which has delivered much enjoyment.

The Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide FXD 1450is a great motorcycle. I have a 2005 and with the hard leather bags and detachable windshield I love it. Plenty of power. Big enough to go with the biggest and small enough to move around easily. Basically a sportster front end. Mine.. the 2005 has 39 mm forks. The 06 and above have 49 mm which is slightly better but not much. Can't put forward controls on the 05 with an engine guard. Harley makes them for 06 and above but nor for an 05.

written by ian macree on 27/02/2009

I owned my Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide FXD 1450 for over 7 years and have just sold it for a very reasonable price. in that time it never once let me down, which I think is very good. when I brought it new I had it stage tuned and had screamin eagle pipes put on it, which made it sound like a proper Harley. I owned big Japanese sports bikes for many years before buying the Harley so I was a little apprehensive about what I would think of the bike, but I have to say that the power is OK and the handling is OK, as long as you remember you are on a cruiser, not a racer. I use to get good mpg, and spares are no more expensive than the Japanese bikes. I think the bolt on extras that everyone buys can sometimes be massively over the top price wise, but everyone buys them anyway. if there was one thing that I didn't like about the bike it would have to be the Harley dealers, I found most of them unhelpful and in some cases totally useless when dealing with me, I am sure it's not true of all Harley dealers but where I lived ( London ) I thought my local dealer was very poor, and as the dealers are quite spread apart going to another might involve a lengthy journey.
If you are thinking of buying a Dyna Glide I would say go for it, and if you buy new, although the dealer won't give you a discount you can get free bits thrown into the deal if you haggle hard enough.

Nice bike. One of the quickest Harleys I ' ve ridden. The handling is a bit suspect at speed. Especially when you hit a lorry rut or groove in the road. The rear can go into a scary weave. I think the rubber mount system is to blame. Don ' t get me wrong. I do like the bike.

This is the kind of bike you just want to get on & ride (I covered 800 miles last weekend!). It also has an almost magical ability to chill you out & put a smile on your face. It is not a sports bike but is perfectly capable of covering long distances, in comfort at 'real world' speeds. If you want to travel the Queens highway at speeds of 100mph + all the time - buy something else.
If looked after a Harley Dyna Glide should be totally reliable (a friends Night Train has 95000 + miles on the clock & has never let him down) & you will have the added benefit of solid residual values. Personally, I don't care about residual values as I never intend to sell it!

It's been a few years since I last rode and the Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide FXD 1450 is heavier than my last bike but,I got used to it real fast.!! Someone else mentioned changing the handle bars for more comfort (sounds like a good idea) the FXD is a great bike for doing it your way.

The Super Glide is a big twin with a sporty feel and it delivers. If you plan on customizing you bike why would you pay more for parts you are going to to toss anyway? Buy smart, buy a superglide, and spend your money on the pieces of the puzzle you choose, not the ones the motor company stick on it.

“The Harley Chronicles ”

★★★★★

written by edbozak on 25/03/2005

The Harley Chronicles
Thursday March 24, 2005 36 Degrees

This was the only nice day this week so I went to pick up the Harley Super Glide today and road it home. I did see a few flakes along the way. How appropriate for a snowboarder with a motorcycle. I have not ridden regular in 32 years and this was a lot heaver bike then I am used to.

A little awkward at first, but the first set of railroad tracks I went over let me know I made a good choice in this motorcycle. It went over those tracks like a luxury car. A Lexus comes to mind because I have been over railroad tracks in a Lexus. I am used to the cold weather but I'm really glad I spent the money for a good leather jacket and helmet. The new Burton Snowboard gloves did an adequate job for the speed I was going.

The motor did not like the neutral position of the throttle. It wanted to be under load or backed off all the way as in deceleration. A quick call to the Harley service department assured me that I would not hear a loud noise and see engine parts in my rear view mirror. No middle of the road for this Harley.

The tree branches along the way were glazed over with ice from the past nights freezing rain which I'm sure made an interesting backdrop for people watching me drive by. Everyone gives a Harley a look when it goes by because you hear it before you see it. But they really give you a look when the calendar says spring but the skies say winter.

My hands were getting cold about three quarters of the way home so I stopped into a gas station along the way for some coffee. I parked right outside the front door and left the bike running with that audible patented heart beat that everyone can recognize. After pouring myself a cup of hot coffee I stepped up to the counter to pay and the cute clerk smiled and said "no charge". Well it looks like there really is a "Legend and Attitude" that comes with a Harley Davidson. More people smiled at me and said "Hi" then they usually do to the "other Ed".

It looks like it is going to be an interesting summer.

Thanks to everyone else at Western Reserve Harley Davidson.

Advise from my friend Rick Reinecker on asking him if I should buy "date leather"

Excellent choice. If your looking for a biker babe, she'll have her own leather. If your looking to convert someone into a biker babe maybe you should think about it. Also unless you have saddle bags on your bike, you'll look pretty ridiculous with two leathers, helmets, chaps, and raingear all strapped to your handle bars and sissy-bar cruising around in search of.

I went from a ridge mounted motor in my 01' sporty to the 05' dyna's rubber mounted motor and man that was great. I live outside of Phoenix, AZ and I ride everyday to work, 105 miles round trip to be exact. This ride has greatly improved my overall life, mostly cuz it rides so smooth that I hardly notice Im ridin a bike. love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
