“Booths Carnforth Store”

★★★☆☆

written by 1972Cannon on 19/03/2017

I have shopped at this Booths Carnforth store since it opened many years ago, but my recent shopping experiences here have left me frustrated and more than a tad disappointed. There has clearly been a disproportionately high turnover of experienced staff in recent months, which may have contributed to the store's significant decline. It is also noteworthy that many traditionally stocked quality fresh food items appear to have been replaced by Booths own lacklustre brand items and which fail to please and guarantee repeat business. Additionally, the customer check out experience at the tills has also significantly deteriorated in this store, often characterised by one or two Booths operatives struggling to sustain a pace to satisfy and maintain customer demand. In short, this Booths store has all the developing hallmarks of a struggling rudderless ship....perhaps management grades at this Branch should be more visibly "hands on" to facilitate necessary improvements, instead of simply parading around the store in white shirts whilst appearing to be ineffective and counterproductive? Come on Booths you can do better than this to achieve and maintain your corporate mission and Brand reputation with your customers!!

“Best sirloin steak in years”

★★★★★

written by Lindaclegg on 04/03/2017

We live in West Yorkshire so unfortunately do not get to your stores regularly. Today decided to go to clithero and visited booths. I bought two sirloin steaks and I normally do not comment but they were the best steaks I have tasted in years. Unfortunately you are too far away to visit regularly but we will be back. Thank you.

“many items very close to sell by date”

written by on 02/03/2017

Booths Poulton has very poor stock levels and often run out of items Early evening is usually very busy but there is usually only 1 or 2 check outs open with big queues Despite being one of the most expensive supermarkets they still have many items very close to sell by dates Staff not very interested

“Booths”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Floyd296 on 27/02/2016

Absosuluteley appalling. Staff didn't know what they were doing, waited 15 minutes at the checkouts and the store was really haphazardly layed out. Lower down supermarkets like aldi and Asda do 10 times better than this. Shame on you booths.shame on you.

“Disasterous move”

★★☆☆☆

written by Malloy202 on 07/01/2016

Unfortunately the new Booths in Poulton either has cash flow problems or managerial problems. Unreliable stock levels including running out of bread and milk no consistency and a lot of empty stock shelves that may as well not be in store. Not relaibl;e to call in and get any products at the moent and hit and miss shopping only. Hope it improves but so far since opening just getting worse. Wsa disappointed to see my view seems consistent with other branches and looks as if Booths has peaked rapidly falling into a trough..

“Gone Downhill”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Woodwarday302 on 31/10/2015

I have to agree with previous comment. I have noticed this past 6 to 12 months a drop in standards at my local store in Longton. Shelves don't appear to stocked ... few tills operating at peak times ....self service tills not manned. I witnessed one customer waiting over 5 mins for someone to approve alcohol. This seems to coincide with a drop in staffing levels. Sadly I have reached the point where I will think twice about shopping there. Booths have no problem spending money on fancy brochures, when perhaps they need to spend on Staff instead.

This used to be a great supermarket to shop at great atmosphere friendly staff helpful it stood out from the rest .How you have altered this in such a sort space of time , no point in sending you an e mail as you don't seem to care whether you give a good customer service or not therefore don't deserve recommendations to my friends why oh why did you get rid of members of staff who cared A disappointed customer

Could not agree more. Company has totally lost it's way. If you want a really badly run cafe (and store) try Booths Carnforth. Abysmal

“You must purchase food before I can give you a free coffee”

★★★☆☆

written by normalawner on 13/07/2015

Called in at Booths store in Garstang today. While my wife was doing the shopping, she packed me off upstairs to the cafe armed with recently acquired plastic loyalty card to sample a free coffee. The assistant in the cafe said " Free coffee is only when you purchase food " and I was refused. Upon searching online when returning home, I read NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Funny how a small thing like this can leave you with very negative feelings towards future visits to Booths.

“Not What it Was”

★★☆☆☆

written by Cox328 on 23/05/2015

Have shopped at Fulwood for years but have now given up.Prices have always been high but that was a reasonable trade off for the excellent customer services and range of goods. However, the numbers of available staff seems to have been cut heavily which means there are nearly always queues, the levels of stock seems reduced and you can't easily get fresh produce for the first couple of hours everyday as it it is still being put out.Neither can I understand why they invested in self service tills which are almost continuously out of order and cannot cope with vouchers.Shame really.

“A bit disappointed”

★★★☆☆

written by on 08/05/2015

I took a detour and visited the new store in Hale Barns. A bit disappointing, it seemed more like a wine store with groceries around it. The coffee shop was massive, perhaps too big, it is very light and bright. I would have preferred a better selection of fruit and veg, I guess I was expecting to be offered something a little more interesting rather than the run of the mill stuff. Staff were polite, aisles nice and wide. Booths cards not available, not sure I will go again.

New store opened in HaleBarns but food expensive and ready meals very poor quality. High in salt (curry), no fish in fish pie, very stodgy and tasteless. I won't be going back much prefer food quality and prices at Sainsbury.

“Very Poor Stock Control”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 21/01/2015

I have been shopping at Booths in Knutsford for 2 years now, I live in a rural area close to this store, but am extremely dissatisfied after the last 12 months or so. The Staff are very friendly unless they are "Supervisors"! However the stock controls are abysmal, each time I go on a daily basis there are USUALLY MINIMUM 2 ITEMS they have run out off. I am a smoker and buy 20 Silk Cut each day, however after over a week of having to buy 2 x10s as they didn't have the packs in 20s, and at an extra cost of 70p Per day, I really felt Booths were Insensitive to extra daily costs incurred to their loyal customers....Tomatoes, firelighters, chicken breasts in the butcher counter....etc, etc, it just goes on...They need to get their act toghther, Aldi have opened, Waitrose, Sainsbury and Coop have stores, which I find I have to go to as a result of Booths "running out". Keep up with the 21st Century booths, get rid of your precocious "Supervisors", and get your stock problems under control, surely computer stock data can inform you what to deliver to each shop!!! Love the idea of supporting local businesses, but Booths have a great deal to improve on. Will be driving that extra mile to a supermarket which delivers reliability under one roof. Pity the counter staff can't be transported to the Higher Supermarkets. Not Recommended

“Ready meals.”

★★☆☆☆

written by PoorqualityBooths on 21/10/2014

I shop at Booths on a weekly basis in Settle. Now lets be honest this is not a discount store, its damn expensive but the range and quality of food is pretty good. However today I bought a ready meal, a Chilli Co Carne, that was apparently lovingly crafted by a husband and wife team of Michelin trained and starred chefs from Clitheroe to taste as good but better than the ones we could cook at home. Was it cheap? I will leave you to guess the answer on that. It was edible, admittedly but in no way palatable and resembled no such Chilli I have ever encountered. It was a slightly warm, watery mince stew with cheap long grain rice. This is the first review of either a supermarket or food that they sell I have ever posted and am hugely disappointed with Booths ,who I have always trusted , to stock such rubbish. I realise that Aldi, Lidl etc are making inroads in the market but there is no excuse for selling produce that the discount supermarkets would reject at premium prices. Going to think about future weekly shops and consider whether the trip to Skipton with its greater choice makes sense. Please Booths, if you are going to continue to be trusted and receive our patronage, do not treat your customers like a cash cow that you have no respect for.

“Booths Style over Substance”

★★★☆☆

written by Bowkers on 08/10/2014

I use to shop at Booths because it offered a different food choice alongside recognised brands but recently I have been incredibly disappointed to find the specialist offers are medico at best with designer brands ( Charlie Bingham Muntaz ect ) being less than average ) in both quality and value along with main brands being around 15 per cent plus more expensive than other like for like supermarkets and the incredible increase in percent on products over a relative short period ( Caviler Brut has gone from £5.00 to £6.50 in a relatively short time ( not like most peoples income ) along with recognised other brand and semi brand products that seem to increase every week. Booths have become dated in their offer and have been left massively behind by Marks and Spencer (!£10.00 meal deals incorporating Wine ) and a quality of food and style destination that leaves Booths looking like open all Hours with fantastic staff who look like they are being paid peanuts and doing their upmost best to keep a stiff upper I live in Lytham were they have a Artisan dining (cafe ) great toilets and an Art gallery supported by a Supermarket that just not delivers anymore !

“Not happy!”

★★★☆☆

written by on 16/09/2014

I have always been going to Booths and I have always liked it. I went on Sunday at 9:40 and it opens at 9 or 9:30, I got 3 stuff and I went to the till to pay, I got told the kiosk tills openes at 10 so I went to the main tills and got told that they open at 10. What's the point of opening at 9 when your tills open at 10!?!?! There was people waiting but no one opened tills yet! A lady told me where to go and kept on telling us, after waiting for 15 minutes so I can pay for 3 things I don't expect them to tell me what to do! The people at the till not anyone didn't even say ''Sorry for your wait'', I expect a sorry!!

The prices in this store are a joke and overpriced compared to its competitors. Save yourself some money and go somewhere else.

Hi
In late 2013, Booths introduced a Price Match (loyalty) scheme for customers where we compare the prices to Asda, Sainsbury, Tesco and Waitrose. If you've paid more at Booths(subject to certain conditions - see Booths website for details), then we'll refund the difference as rewards on your Booths card !
Boths have also introduced a fair price for Milk where the Farmers obtain the best possible deal available - an ethical and responsible grocer.

Booths have since ended their price match for customers n favour of staff discounts. Prices for coffee are ridiculous 200g Nescafe Gold Blend 7 pounds at Booths, everywhere else 5 pounds or at Asda 3 pounds!

Put simply Booths are not competitive at all and are very over priced

“Simply the Best!!!”

★★★★★

written by prcrolla on 27/09/2013

After going in just for a chicken sandwich, I was very delighted and impressed with the high standard of customer service I received from the members of staff. It only took literally three seconds for a member of staff to greet me at the counter (after taking some chickens out of the oven) and my sandwich was made exactly to my preference and no ingredients skimmed. The member of staff was polite, courteous, and well mannered throughout and I could find no fault with the standard of service. Likewise with the staff members at the checkouts. A* Service!!!

Having just bought some half price rump steak costing £10.66 for 2 pieces. I found I had so much fat & gristle on after I had chopped it all off I was left with small pieces only fit for stewing. Having bought it before & it was very good. Do they buy from a different supplier when they have offers on?
