Good Points: Good lens, well made camera body, nice case supplied, turns on nice and quickly, fair size viewfinder for it's day.
Bad Points: AA batteries, must take spear batteries on a days shoot.
General comments: I still use this camera after two years, even if my main camera is a D200 Nikon, but I would need big pockets to carry the D200 around with me a lot.

The Sony CyberShot DSC-W12 is a great starter/second/dSLR backup camera. Can print up to A3+ prints. Manual mode is limited (in aperture range) but still quite usable- see the effects of changing exposure! Could never do that with film cameras! AA batteries mean you can take it anywhere on the planet and not worry about spares. LCD is huge, which is great for reviewing, and composing, except in direct sunlight (in the Mediterranean...). I would have liked to have seen AE lock function. Has lots ...
