Good Points: The breakfast was good.
Bad Points: The room was not cleaned properly, towels were not replaced, the water was off for most of the trip and the decor was tacky and very very dark. The staff were unbelievably rude and incompetent.
General comments: I had the worst three night stay at the Point Hotel in Edinburgh, and would strongly recommend that noone stay here. The service was so bad - when we complained about the dirty cups, the dark rooms and the water that was off for most of New Year's Eve, we were confronted with a Manager who refused to listen to our complaints, refused to do anything, promised to bring us up water and a lamp, neither of which turned up, and then ran out of the room in a huff. The General Manager's written response to our complaints was similarly ineffective, and he blamed such disgraceful behaviour on 'the lack of understanding from some of the guests'. Yes, I am afraid that I do fail to understand rudeness, dirtiness, tackiness and incompetence.

We found the Point Hotel to be dark, cold, loud, dirty and lacking basic security of rooms. After the first night of zero sleep, we immediately checked out of this hotel.

We stayed in the Point Hotel in January 2002. It is possibly the worst hotel we have had the misfortune to stay in. Whilst the entrance to the hotel is quite smart, the halls to the rooms felt dark, cold, cheap and institution-like. Our room was meant to heat up automatically each time we went into it. It took at least 2 hours for the frost to flee the air and we had to sit in our coats shivering. Not what you want to do after a winter's day of sightseeing and shopping! Our complaint was met wit ...

We recently stayed at The Point for two nights in March. The design of the Hotel is, I suppose what should be called "minimalist". This does not mean basic by any means. The design of the building from its surprising reception area to its almost space age corridors is stunning. The high ceilinged rooms give a great feeling of space. Pay the extra and get the Jaccuzi Suite, it's well worth it. The food is good and the staff friendly and helpful.
Situated only minutes from the shops, seconds from ...
