Good Points: in flight entertainment, modern, staff friendly
Bad Points: See my points below.
General comments: Flight LAN800 NZ to Santiago, delayed, then cancelled. No information given to passengers by crew about extent of likely delay, nor when the flight was to be resumed. They put us up in a hotel overnight but only paid for a 3 minute phonecall, the hotel charged me $4.50 per minute thereafter. After a 26 hr wait in Auckland plane left for Chile sans moi, I had missed my meeting by then (the point of the trip) and simply returned home to Australia.

I tried to reserve on 3 different occasions and failed to do so because of the apparent lack of respect and customer service. They are the least expensive airline flying to Ecuador but I'd rather pay more and know that I will be taken care of.
There is no miami office, so I was always transferred. I spoke to 3 different sale peoples and they each seemed rude to me and unwilling to help. This airline was good to a point but I do not recommend anyone flying LAN.

Overall, the airline is excellent. I am based in Santiago, and frequently fly to Argentina and Brazil. Absolutely nothing compares to LAN for these destinations, and the few times I have chosen a different airline, I haven't been satisfied. When I fly to the USA and Europe, LAN is my first choice when flight times and destinations permit. With LAN you are minimizing your risks -- you are likely to get comfort and excellent service, a well-maintained plane, etc. I much prefer LAN to the Amer ...

Don't fly with Lan Airlines to Peru or within Peru because if anything happens you will be messed around by their customer service department. Here's what happened to me:
I bought a ticket to fly with LanPeru from Lima to Iquitos on July 6 at 5:30 a.m.. I went to the airport, went through security, checked my bags and was waiting for the flight to depart when the flight attendant announced that all flights to Iquitos were canceled until the next day. I really dis-like American Airlines but I would fly American any day over LAN. The only time I will give them a try again is when 100% of their fleet has been upgraded, supposedly around May 2008.

LAN Chile Service is quite unbeatable, flying modern A340 planes, including monitor on each (economy) seat, additional electronical services like satelite communication(!)
Stewardesses are among the most attractive in business and friendly (you notice it's not fake)
Choice of (chilean) wines is excellent, you don't have to pay for them like on many airlines meanwhile, like for example Delta Airlines (bad habbit!)
