“Server Constantly Down”

The email server of Easy Space is down on a constant basis with down times ranging from several times 30 minutes per day to about 1 day. Usually if their server goes down on a weekend or holiday they will not fix it until the next working day. The customer service is hard to reach and could so far never point out any solution. If you want to retain the business of your long standing customers you should treat them better. Since I escaped your clutches (at some expense, though it was money well-spent) I now have excellent customer service, no sneaky antorenews, and nobody quoting the terms and conditions at me when I raised an objection. Guess the autorenew thing ain't so popular after all, especially since you removed the option to change it from the control panel.

I'm with you on that... trouble is they don't listen to their customers! I've been as loyal as you and to see the MANY negative reviews on this site alone would send me in to a state of panic if I was an MD at Easyspace/IOMart... I'm in the process of moving away from them - not easy and such a lot of effort involved as I have quite a few 'services' with them but I bet in the long run it'd be a dam sight easier than emailing them or calling them...

I've been a very loyal customer of Easyspace for many years (I know, I know!), the staff are very friendly and the prices have been very competitive but the introduction of their auto-renew 'service' together with a big price discrepancy when coming to renew has forced me in to transferring my services away from Easyspace. The auto-renew service charges up a month in advance of the renewal date (with no prior warning!!)... They will charge £3.00 per auto-renew opt-out meaning an additional £3.00...

“EasySpace Are Billing Me For Services I Did Not Ask For!”

I signed up to EasySpace for a customer as a bit of their software for some reason would only work with EasySpace's naff FTP servers. The price stated was £2.25 a month so not really a big deal, on inspection of my bank statements I discover the EasySpace have taken over £100 charging me for a shopping cart on a monthly basis and email filtering. To avoid billing of unwanted services on accounts we do advise our customers to double-check the order basket before submitting an order, revise the invoice generated and report any discrepancies to our support team on 0370 755 5066 available Mon-Fri 9.00-5.30pm

Free trials are included with orders as suggested promotions. Users are prompted when an order is submitted with an important notice that these free trials are included and have the option of removing them from the cart at time of purchase. A confirmation e-mail also notifies the customer that if the Free Trial is not cancelled before it's expiry it will upgrade to a premium paid service. The user is also reminded of this when the free trial is nearing expiry.

Easyspace's highest priority is to ensure continuity of service and avoid disruption to service.

I cancelled all my web hosting with Easyspace in January 2012 & still they have taken a payment from my credit card for auto renew for one of the domains, they refuse to give it back as per their terms & conditions, which say "we got your money & you are not going to get it back" I changed because they started over charging, poor service & an attitube which amounts to poor customer service. The whole auto renew thing is sneaky, it's easily overlooked and you don't receive any advance notice of the payment being taken one month before expiry. Also, don't be fooled by your control panel telling you that you don't have a card registered for auto-renew against your services - if they have ANY card details of yours and auto renew is on they will debit it, and then quote the rulebook at you.

They have several 'free trails' bolted on to packages which are free for the first month and then they start charging you for them. Our recent system scans highlighted a number of accounts that had been using an e-mail service with no reference billing (effectively a free e-mail service) which Easyspace can no longer support.

Important e-mail notifications were sent to customers accounts who would be affected advising what steps needed to be taken to ensure continuity of service and what to do to avoid interruption.

Easyspace Mail Packages start from £1.49p/m and can be setup on PC, Mobile Devices and accessed from browser-based Webmail. Mailboxes include catch all action and free e-mail forwarding.

I have been an easyspace customer for a while (7 or 8 years) they have always been poor at service but most of the time I've solved the problem myself and the inertia of moving has been too great. My email services also stopped yesterday. When I finally got through to them I was told that th free service I had been enjoying since 2004 was by mistake. They're solution to this appears to have been to simply delete my email services. They have tried to say that their system "should" have sent me an email warning me last week. I've sifted through all the emails I've had from them over the last couple of months, nearly all of which are domain registration promotions and have no evidence of this. They are not prepared to even talk to me any further unless I pay for an email service! The representative I was speaking to refused to put me through to a manager and refused to give me their name or employee reference. Unprofessional bordering on incompetent. I am withdrawing any of my services from them, for which I am going to have to pay 15 pounds, just to add injury to insult! Do not go anywhere near these people is all I can recommend.

Our systems recently alerted us that there were a number of accounts using premium e-mail service for 5+ years having not paid for it.

A notification was sent to customers to allow sufficient arrangements to be made to backup important information if they did not wish to pay for the e-mail service or, to ensure the continuity of the service, assign a payment method.

Our e-mail services start from £1.49p/m and provides 250MB Mailbox size, FREE WebMail, Email Forwarding, Email Aliases and is Mobile Compatible.

This company is appalling. I'm so angry I could explode. I have used there services for the past 8 years, and have paid every invoice they have sent, and have a copy of every email they have sent.

In the past 6 weeks they have just stopped, with no notice, 2 of my email services. One is the home email and one is my £500 000/year business email. Just suddenly stopped.

After > 24hrs the service has still not been reconnected. I am livid.

I have various domains and services from this company. I have used one as my main home email service since 2002. I have always paid whatever they have invoiced. Out of the blue 3 days ago they just cut off my email, no message, no warning. When I contacted them they said I was on a package that not valid, so had been cut off. What a load of rubbish. I've used Easyspace for several years and used to hold about 30 domain names with them. They used to be good, but since the IOMART takeover things have worsened. What I find particularly irritating is their excessive price gouging on .com domain renewal fees couple with and additional £3 fee for "manual renewal" each year for every domain. To move a domain name from them costs an additional £50 or so. Essentially in the long run I find them about twice the price of my regular domain hosting company...

We contacted their technical support team several times to address this and the speed did not improve. As per section 3.1 of our terms and conditions available at http://www.easyspace.com/terms. Easyspace reserves the right to establish and review renewal prices at its own discretion. The price increase is there so we are in line with Market Value

To confirm the Transfer fee is a fee to clean your account after your domain is released. Top Level domains can be unlocked and have the transfer code generated from the control panel without any interaction from us. If you want us to carry the work out for you the fee is in place so there is a simple interface for non technical customers to transfer. For .uk domains you are of course entitled to transfer via Nominet who have their own transfer fees.

At the point of sale you agreed to the conditions of service which clearly state autorenewal will be uplifted 30 days in advance

From the point of sale you can remove the service from autorenewal allowing the service to lapse and cancel

I don't agree. I have been with easyspace for bit over a year and at renewal time I was sting by its 'auto renew' scam. In my view easyspace lure you in to get a deal and then it rips money off you by 'auto adding more' and 'auto renewing it'.

You sure?

A web testing service check on just one of their servers finds over 1800 domains hosted on that single server and so gives the warning (in summary):

Where there are too many sites located on a single address, every site there has a higher chance of getting banned or penalized by search engines due to infractions by other sites on the same.

Their advice: Move to a better server.

Based on my own experience with Easyspace all the bad reviews are about the bad service they provide.

Perhaps some don't realize how much better a host can be, or how much cheaper. I was shocked to find they want to charge to move a domain away on top of them charging 50% more than most for the domains already.

Wait a year or two Ross - I thought they were good till their support staff told me I was on an old server that couldn't handle current PHP and they couldn't move me to a new server "because my contract was too old" - a totally bogus support response six weeks after I'd paid them over £200 annual charge for three domains a couple of g's of web space and email forwarding!
