What an excellent gun the SMK XS78C023 is, it actually beats other air rifles that are twice as much as this , there isnt a spring air rifle that can match it for accuracy , if you like me are into shooting a lot then gear up to bulk fill and you will find the cost of c02 going down by a considerable margin .
There are a multitude of tuning tips out for this rifle that will take it comfortably to 11.3 lbs which is a very nice number . Using rws superdomes i get lead on lead at 20 meters which is very impressive , you can buy a magazine to make it a multishot
The xs79 is nie on the same rifle but has a larger 88grm tank that fits under the gun go here to get more info on these hugely underated air rifles

Well finished good looking gun, low recoil. Co2 means that pressure is a bit variable and so accuracy suffers through inconsistency. Handles nicely, well balanced. In retrospect would have bought one with scope and silencer, maybe even big 88g canister version.

I have the SMK QB78 Deluxe .22 version, again in retrospect the .177 would have been more accurate and enough power for the job (vermin hunting) but .22 flat heads work well at close range.

The moving parts, trigger, safety, bolt etc. ...

Had this SMK XS78CO2 rifle for nearly a year, for target shooting. Like the weight, and it is accurate with a scope, as others have said. I have a major problem with the screw valve where the two CO2 cylinders go. The blurb says that it can be tightened by hand, but I have to use mole grips to get the cones to pierce both cylinders!! Have ruined the looks of this end cap!

Very low price for what you get. I prefer the .22 Deluxe version. No Recoil, Low price, easy to work on, can beat guns costing a lot more if you tune them. Trigger can be made good. The Deluxe has fibre optic sights that are good for Close range vermin. You can fit a Telescopic sight easy. Very light. Can be tuned to the legal limit in .22 and usually in .177.
You have to do a bit of work to make them very good. They need Co2 bottles to run. Power is between 6 to 8 ft lbs.

My first proper air rifle. I don't know what it's like without a scope but with one it is very accurate upto about 25-30 yards and a lot of fun can be had with it. I joined an air gun club on the back of using this so it's very good. I would recommend it to anyone who's thinking of starting up.

As I said the iron sights are very basic, but stick a halfway decent scope on and you have a very good rifle, with no scope creep due to recoil that you sometimes get on a a springer. The rifle itself is very quiet, and with a suppressor attached the only sound is the pellet hitting the target. I haven't had the rifle long enough to know if there are any inherent problems, but the build quality seems very good. It does seem to prefer certain pellets, My rifle seems to function best with Bisl ...

I use it for rabbits, squirles, rooks, magpies and pigeons. One day i was out and shot a fox at 15 yards and dropped it in one, the pellet broke threw its skull right between its eyes !

Really just adding a little to the previous reviews. The quality of the stock has been improved greatly since some of the other reviews, the rifle now comes with a well finished and quite attractive looking stock however the trigger mechanism is still poor but after some smoothing of the actual trigger and polishing of the working surfaces it looks good and works well. Unbeatable budget rifle, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

This is without a doubt one of the best rifles to buy. It is small and lightweight with power suitable for close range pest control. Accuracy is good enough to take on rifles costing double the price. They can easily be tuned for more power, but even stock standard they perform well. Mine used to do about 640 ft/s, but now gets about 800ft/s.You get about 60-70 full power shots per fill and even more is you do a bulk fill. Shooting 1 hole groupings at 20m is easy and with silencer on, they are ...

I bought this rifle second hand for only £45, I thought it was just going to be a plinking gun. But I soon discovered how accurate it is, and have been giving squirrels and rats a pounding with this rifle for the last month.
Can anyone tell me where or whom I need to contact to get this TR robb tuning kit as I haven't been able to find any information on this???

This is my first air rifle (The SMK QB78 Deluxe) and I have found it to be excellent value for money. Joined a local target shooting club and the regular members have all given favorable comments. Originally I was using C02 cartridges bought from where I bought the rifle but I have since tried some I bought from the club which seem to give a more consistent charge. I have also been told to try some Diablo pellets and these seem to be much more accurate (the first type seem to turn sideways and ...

This is my second xs78 , the first was an absolute disaster, from the minute i got it it constantly leaked co2 from the main part, but i returned the gun to Sportsmarketing and eventually they gave me a brand new one, which has been good, I use mine for ratting mainly and I find it pretty accurate over short to medium distances. Recently the o ring on the cap of the co2 tube holder has gone, and I can't find anywhere to get the replacement o ring, I phoned SMK 3 times and have been told they ar ...

Brought one of these overall a very good rifle at first it was under powered.
I also got the tropp kit. it is very easy to fit and WOW the power is great it's pushing 11.8 ft/lb its a great bunny basher.
Needs a good scope to get the best out of it i think its as good as rifles twice and maybe three times its price

Just to add to my previous review, i have since purchased the upgrade kit from tjrobb and wow , super power, loss of shots per cartridge but extra power is awesome, will go through bottom and out of top of beer can at 25yds, and buries half way into 15mm pine plank at same distance, getting a chrono to check it out but it must be on the 12ft lbs limit, a truly great gun.
