Good Points: Quality of finish on the action. Consistancy of regulator. Cocking system. Silent firing cycle.

Bad Points: Very poor quality control. State of the 'out of the box' consistancy. Stock.

General comments: The overall look of this Daystate X2R sports Synthetic air rifle sold it to me. I bought the 'R' regulated model from an online seller. A nicely balanced light rifle with a good durable finish to the action (for those who dont keep up with the 'clean after every use' regime.) Being a conscientious airgunner I charged the rifle and tested it over my chronograph. A new record for me and I have tested a lot of air rifles. It could not produce a consistant string of shots, using any pellet you care to think of, below 45 feet per second spread!!!
I knew that something was seriously wrong especially for a regulated rifle. At this point I would have returned the rifle but I had stupidly cut up the box. After much cursing I elected to strip the rifle rather than working out how to ship it back. I was truely shocked when I removed the action from the stock. The stock has been filled with what I assume to be carplan body repair around the trigger guard and action slot. I have since spoken to other owners of this model and they asure me theirs are not the same. Just me then, (if it weren't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all) On to the action. The regulators on these are not the inline type and to preserve the air capacity sit below the main tube, (another point that sold the rifle to me.) This has been screwed in and tightened using a pair of stilson pliars and bares the scars to proove it. I thought at this stage I would be returning it for sure. I continued with the inspection anyway. I found that I was able to remove the barrel and loading assembly without disturbing the warenty seals and found that the transfer port had not been deburred the same as the rest of the moving parts. I carried out the finnishing off process and rebuilt and tested again. Now it is the most consistant rifle I have ever tested, producing no more than 7 fps exteme spread. I think I just got a bad one but some basic mistakes were made by myself and Daystate but other people that I have spoken to have nothing but good words about the X2 sport.

The Daystate X2R sports Synthetic is a well made gun, more accurate than I could ever dream of becoming (hole in hole at 30 rested), the regulated gun supplies you with amazing accuracy and consistency. The grip design for fingers fits me like a glove. I found the 10 shot mag useful but didn't like removing the two screws to replace it with the single shot tray.
So I designed my own magnetic tray to fit without using tools, and it looks very well it is practical and fast to change between singl ...
