Good Points: I find that the size of the lightning xl is brilliant, it is light and the speed, accurately and it is all round amazing.
Bad Points: I cant say there is any bad points
General comments: I absolutely love this gun, it was a good price and the gun room in ivybridge was brilliantly helpful. i would say to anyone that wants a good, reliable air rifle buy a BSA Lightning XL

I had a recent rabbit kill at approximately 80 yards. I had the cross hairs on the rabbit for a head shot only to see the pellet throw up the dew from the grass 20 yards in front of the quarry. Lifting te BSA Lightning XL so the lowest gradiant of the scope was on the rabbit. I scored a perfect head shot killing the animal instantly. Although I had a little bit of luck, it goes to show the ability of this air rifle in rough shooting.

After having a chance to shoot an XL model, I was impressed enough to buy one myself. The kick is about the same as a mid power Gamo, but a lot more solid sounding. Has been very accurate out of the box. The one I borrowed had over 1500 rounds through it, and felt a lot smoother after break-in. Not the most powerful, but very comfortable to shoot.

This is a brilliant rifle with excellent accuracy. I brought a 3-9x12 hawkes scope to go with it and i can easily hit a rabbit at 50 yards. Go with the .22 as the heavy spring makes up for any loss in muzzle velocity. the only drawback is that you cant easily put a sling on. and watch out for a lot more recoil than most other air rifles!

I recently bought a .22 calibre BSA Lightning XL. This is a fantastic rifle. With a 3-9x12 scope accuracy is ensured upto 50 yards. It also has a very good killing range of small to medium vermin. I use Crossman Powapell pellets which complement the rifle when hunting. A excellent rifle for the price.

Great all rounder. Solid rifle, reliable and powerful. Bad point is that there is more recoil due to heavier spring but over all the BSA Lightning XL is a great air rifle.

Very good carbine with a considerable 12 ft lbs bite. The BSA Lightning XL is very light and short, i really like it. The only problem is that you cant fit long scopes on to it.

This is the best air rifle for money. If you can afford The BSA Lightning XL you will love it. i can hit 2x2 target groups consistently at 50 yds. Small to mid size varmints are easy, much like the many cans and bottles. The gun is just a lot of fun!!!

I chose the Tactical finish stock for the look and durability in all weather conditions. The only thing i feel is a bad point on this rifle is the quality control of the stock blanks, there where a few remnants of plastic from where holes had been drilled. These were removed with a blade in seconds, but as BSA's flagship model 'springer' you would have thought this would not be an issue. The wooden stock looks like it has had some care put in making it, so why not the same for the plastic? The b ...

One word...Amazing! i have had this rifle for around a year now and am yet to have a problem of any kind. The accuracy of the rifle is second to non and although there are no open sights on the rifle itself, a good scope will decimate all. Fantastic rifle for first time, or for the more experienced shooters. Great for vermin control and target practice, the list goes on. I personally recommend this rifle to anyone.
