Good Points: Will Smith makes for a more convincing romantic lead than expected.
Bad Points: Nothing particularly special here.
General comments: My problem with the whole romantic-comedy genre is that these films rarely ever succeed in either department, much less both of them. With clever writing and solid acting, they occasionally strike gold (MOONSTRUCK and BRIDGET JONES' DIARY are two prime examples), but more often than not, they come off as silly, nonsensical romps with improbable situations and embarrassing dialogue that induce little more than chronic eye-rolling from yours truly. Not that it stops these flicks from becoming hits; the loud, shrill MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING was a huge smash a few years ago, but don't look at me to explain that particular mystery. So I'd be lying if I said that I went into HITCH with any great expectations.
Sure enough, HITCH is strictly middle-of-the-road, but it's not without its charms. Will Smith, a talented actor when given strong material (see ALI for proof), keeps his FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR shtick to a refreshing minimum and actually comes off as a viable romantic leading man. Here, he plays Alex Hitchens, a self-professed "Date Doctor" for men trying to forge long-term relationships with the objects of their affections. As his latest client Albert, Kevin James (TV's KING OF QUEENS) is the perfect bumbling comic foil; I actually found myself laughing out loud watching him show Alex his repertoire of dance moves, including the 'Q-Tip'. Still, the movie wastes too much time dispensing so-called truisms on romance and true love, doling out cheesy statements about savoring the special moments in your life as if they were free samples at a frozen yogurt stand. Entertaining enough on its own terms, HITCH serves as an adequate-enough date movie but doesn't rise above the limitations of its genre. Still, if you're a fan of this type of movie, you'll likely enjoy it quite a bit.

Hitch...hmm.. a typical guy meets girl .. falls in love ... just about to admit it when .. bam .. fight fight fight ... hearts broken .. tears falling ... and then comes the TWIST! .... a aaaaaaaaaa ... I don't think so...
So this is a movie about this cool black guy, "the date doctor" also known as Will Smith aka Alex Hitchins AKA Hitch! He likes to play the short game and somewhere in that crowded Manhatten mania is this pretty young 'I KNOW what I want" girl, when in fact she is TOTALLY c ...

Hitch - The movie is about Will Smith playing the Date Doctor. Guys come to him because they like a woman, but that woman may be better than them or they just don't know how to hook up with her so Will helps them out! He tells them how they should act, what they should say and wear. Basically, going with a girl on a date is kind of predictable, according to Hitch at least!
While he tries to help a client, he ends up falling for a girl and it may actually mean something. His dates with her start ...
