    My local authority, London Borough of Havering, insure their public liability with Zurich. I made a claim for my mother-in-law who had tripped on uneven paving, had fallen breaking her arm and her glasses and bruising her face. I was informed that certain protocols had to be followed in this type of case and as time dragged on Zurich informed me that under the terms of the protocol they had 3 months to reach a decision after they had gathered all the evidence.     Zurich are pretty poor to deal with, too big a company and very impersonal. They have staff that have no geographical know how. I deal with them on a daily basis. Their council customers pay their repairers and have to claim it back because it takes Zurich so long to pay for the repairs that the council's wouldn't have any one to do their work otherwise. yeh generaly pretty pathetic for a huge company

    I had an accident 2 months ago (not my fault) and haven't received a single letter from Zurich Car Insurance, despite me telling them over the telephone about 10 times that I want it in writing. I've made probably 15-20 phone calls to them and they just fob you off with anything to get you off the phone and then don't do what they've promised to.     I had an accident 2 weeks ago (not my fault) but yet I am still waiting for the engineer to give me the value of my car or to let me know its a write off. There has been little communication from Zurich insurance - I have had to spend money myself on lengthy phonecalls trying to get some answers from this crowd of useless people. I am self-employed and cannot get to my current contract because of the lack of car so am now out of pocket for wages. I am absolutely fuming.

    Zurich is an absolute joke of a company. All my phone calls to them were obviuosly a complete waste of time as it would appear that they were ignored. Nearly 4 months since the accident and they havent even bothered to obtain a statement from their own driver. Looks like i am going to have to take them to court to obtain the compensation for the damage to my car which i have had to pay for out of my own pocket.     Zurich Car Insurance refused to help in any way.. car crash not my fault.. went with them cause they cheep.. found out hard way money not everything... its up to you but not worth saving 20 pound...

    How I rue the day I switched away from Direct Line to Zurich Car Insurance. Another driver backed into my parked car nearly two years ago and it still isn't sorted out. Two years! Pyramids have been built in less time! Don't bother writing to them, they don't answer. Don't bother asking for someone to call you back, they won't.The most hopeless insurance company ever.

    On Confused.com Zurich Car Insurance showed £250 excess but when I telephoned to book the insurance it was increased to £650 because I was insuring a performance car - I thought I had already entered on Confused.com which type of vehicle I was insuring.     I took out additional Green Flag cover to the comprehensive policy I already had with Zurich (They rang me and talked me into having it on the phone by offering 40% discount). I enver received any details of the additional Green Flag recovery in the post. The car broke down on M23 - Green Flag took more than 1 hr 30 mins. to arrive.     Blameless victim of this accident which occurred 14/04/08, the car in front of me stopped abruptly I stopped, but the car behind me did not, and shunted me into the car in front . My claim is still unresolved.     Zurich insurance is OK, as long as you dont have to make a claim. The policy is reasonably priced. I had to make a claim as a result of a van pulling out from a side road and colliding with me. I provided them with all the information, which they lost and didn ' t ask any questions and just settled the claim against me. I wasn ' t told me car was being repaired and wasn ' t told it was repaired until the body shop rang me wanting to charge me for storage as the car had been ready for 3 weeks and ...

    We set up a policy with Zurich Car Insurance a year ago and we've managed to go through two claim procedures - one: not at fault, the other one: single car accident, so from Zurich point of view at fault. When not at fault: we were given a brand new Volvo V70 (we insured a P-reg Volvo S40) as a courtesy car, we kept it until we received a cheque for old car (write off), which was about 6 weeks after the incident.     Only minor damage to my vehicle (innocent party) but repairs were a whopping FIVE WEEKS. I was told various reasons for this initially but then they settled on a parts supply problem. Contacted vehicle manufacturer and was informed there was no problem whatsoever with the parts requested. -- ?? My vehicle also managed to acquire further damage, somehow, after being collected - the repairer did deny any responsibility for this. Would I consider Zurich (Skoda) insurance again? What do you think?

    They're refusing to give me a valuation on my written-off car, they have been refusing to pay up too. Simple accident, other guy's fault, very cut and dry, happened October of last year. Still no money and every time I call them they give me the run around and are evasive and basically rude.     All the good scores and comments on this site are for people who haven't yet made a claim pretty much, and for us, Zurich were fine to start with. I'm the named driver and I reported the accident the same day, long conversation all about the accident, details, etc. I then liaised with them and their appointed repairer, at length, a number of times, again discussing details of the policy and the accident, the car, its value, etc. It took a number of weeks to finally get someone to look at it and ...

    Zurich Private Clients - Square Mile Insurance Services are a great brokerage, who know the market and make it really easy to sort out insurance. They are not really interested in insuring one off mundane stuff though.
