Good Points: Rare performances of top 70s stars; digitally remastered; good song choices; excellent introuductions and commentary;
General comments: Remember the 70s - Greatest Hits Live is a subperb compilation of fourteen top performances from many of rock and soul's enduring legends. Drawn from the hit Kenny Rogers TV show, Rollin on the River, these rare and classic performances bring back many memories. Included on this DVD are Kenny Rogers and the First Edition singing "Ruby" and "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Is In"); Jim Croce doing "You Don't Mess Around with Jim"; Bill Withers doing "Lean on Me"; B.B. King doing "The Thrill Is Gone"; Paul Revere and The Raiders doing "Indian Reservation" and many more.
Each performance is introduced by Mickey Jones, the original drummer from the First Edition. He shares his personal recollections of each performer. In addition, each song is placed in its historical perspective with some very interesting anecdotes about news and cultural tidbits of the time.
All in all, Remember the 70s: Greatest Hits Live is just what every fan of 70s music needs in their collection.
