Good Points: People tell me its' great, don't get rid of it, although I have it two years and it never worked
Bad Points: Large, unwieldy, hopeless. Paper will not feed, ink keeps drying, running out, you name it. Have to keep loading it into my car to bring it to be looked at by expert. He puts in ink, tells me its ok, I bring it home, it does not work, leave it for a month, ink dries, bring it back...Nightmare
General comments: I wish I never bought it. I only wanted a simple printer. Was persuaded by slick salesman to get rid of my cheap, small, perfectly working HP. Now (because I have not yet accepted that it is a dud and I need to get rid) I have no working printer, which has caused untold hassle in my life and career. Never again

I have owned many epson printers and found them all to be very good, yes they do use a bit too much ink and yes it is expensive, but I only use genuine cartridges and have never had blocked heads etc. I am still using my epson r200 very succesfully and print most days.

Was working ok but now after less than 2 years it pulls the paper in crookedly and them prints only half the page very ertically... plus the print is blurred. I've tried to trouble shoot but to no avail... very disappointed.

Cheap cartridges...
Heavy on ink use, colour spoor. Ink waste pad get full. Bin printer, not worth replacing. Very average for me, wouldn't go Epson again.

Good until it just started printing strips of colour.
Uses ink too fast, just prints strips now no text or images. Pain in the neck as far as I am concerened. Never buy Epson printer again as far as I am concerned.
Never been used that much and is totally useless now, its for the bin in my experience. I do not recommend this model Epson RX420.

My Epson printer go through a routine each time they are turned on, so it uses ink even if you don't print any thing! The cartridges are very small capicity about 6ml each. Mine ran out after 3 months and I just use the scanner now. I recovered my old HP deskjet from the loft and now use it on draft b/w only.
Remember there two printer manufactures HP and the rest!

Due to not being able to print black text even though the cartridge is full I will not buy from this brand again. It is bad enough that it consumes ink like there is no tomorrow.

It is so frustrating you just want to smash it to pieces. It uses huge amounts of ink to clean heads - cannot clean heads without over 10% ink in all 4 cartridges - doesn't always work after 6 or more cleans.

No complaints in general. Nothing impressive, nothing too bad. Can't comment on the ink consumption much, got a good deal with Cartridge Monkey and got something like a total of 25 cartridges for 50 pounds, and still have not used them. Printer is OK, software for scanner is OK, and it is a lot cheaper now, I guess.

We have had 2 Epson printers in the past both ended up in the bin due to new cartridges every 2 weeks even though printer was not used.
We thought that maybe Epson had sorted this out by now and tried the RX420 as we were looking at an all-in-one and guess what? We were wrong... 3 months old and 3 sets of replaced inks and all we did was print 16 photos 4 to an A4 page thats 4 A4 pages then blue would not print had to clean heads 3 times guess what red ran out new set of cartridges at £29 ...

Will not print after only 18 months of fairly light use - and the Epson service centre have quoted me £60 to fix it - this is to replace some shaped foam pads! Often had to replace half full cartridges as the heads had become clogged. This will be my last Epson printer.

I have owned three successive Epson printers, and to be honest, I have been disappointed with each. More fool me I guess! The Epson RX420 multifunction printer is definitely the better built and most reliable of them, but there are three things that are definite disadvantages:
1) I cannot get it to print black documents when there is ample black left, but no colour ink remaining - this REALLY gets me. I rarely do photos, but frequently print documents out, and it is very inconvenient when I h ...

I wouldn't even consider having an Epson RX420 given me for free! Print quality when it works is good. Scanner is great, and copies well. The heads continually block and it uses up so much ink to do it that by the time you`ve got that one working, another cartridge has run out. So much so that after 18 months it wouldn't work anymore as it had come to the end of it's life and needed to be serviced, which meant throw it in the bin.

In 3 weeks time I had to replace 4 cartridges in my Epson RX420. Not due much printing but to 'cleaning' printerheads
Second set of original Epson ink was gone within a week. Not by printing but "head cleaning"
To me this was the last Epson adventure. Cartridges needed to be replaced at the same time anyway ( no cost reduction by selling colors apart)
At the cost of 40 euro for four sets of ink...
Sorry Epson.... you make a party of this, selling a great printer but "laughing" at all ...

Only just got an Epson RX420 multifunction printer/scanner so perhaps it's a little early.
However as there are no other reviews on here perhaps this might assist others searching for info. I am well pleased so far.
