I took out a poilcy with the post office two years ago, eight months into this poilicy I recived a letter to say that they had cancelled my insurance (for no reason) I got that letter in May, they had cancelled it since February! I rang to sort the issue and was assured that it was. My monthly payments then went up, they said this was due to the fact that they had had to re-start my policy. I have recently called to get a quote for another car as mine broke down and I needed to buy a new one. The quote was too high so I told them I wished to cancel they then told me I had to pay £188 to cancel and would lose my no claims bonus for the last two years despite them saying i had only been a customer for a few months (I have been a cusomer for two years nearly). As I cannot afford to pay to cancel and the increased monthly payments will stretch my finaces I am now stuck. Do not use this company!

    (see review below)
Twice customer services promised to call me back and didn't - until I put my complaint in writing.
.......and I'm still waiting for my £400 back!
Will never use Post Office insurance again.

I phoned The Post Office three weeks before my policy ended to say I would not be renewing.
They have now taken over £400 off my credit card 'by mistake'.
It will apparently take them 7 working days to refund this money.
I asked for my credit card details to be removed from their system but they say THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE.

WARNING: If you have ever given your credit card details to The Post Office they will still have them!
Did they phone me back as promised.......NO. ...

Avoid this car insurance company at all costs. I chose them due to them providing the cheapest quote both on my provisional & full licence; however, once i past my test - my premium went up way beyond what they said it would (even though it was two weeks after i first took out insurance with them).

Every single time you wish to change any of your details (which you have to do whenever anything changes in order for the insurance to be valid) they charge you £20. I've moved house twice sinc ...

I just had to pay more in cancellation fees than the rest of my insurance is worth! I was NOT advised of this when I took Post Office Car Insurance out and will find a way to get it onto search engines to make people aware of this as presently you will not get told. They DO NOT point out when you take the insurance out that there is such ridiculous fees when you cancel early and then sting you. In all the years I had insurance that has never been the case. If I had claimed I could understand but ...

Took out Post Office Car Insurance when they came up cheapest in an online comparison. Had a year of trouble-free, claim-free driving and then received my renewal quote - an increase of £200 on the previous year! I rang up to query why and was told that the cost of insurance generally for "young drivers" (I was 28 at the time) had increased and I wouldn't get a cheaper quote elsewhere. Did another online comparison and discovered dozens of companies would insure me far more cheaply - an ...

Rather like a previous reviewer I fell victim to Auto renewal. With around a week remaining on my insurance ( £250) I sold the car. The reminder came as I was expecting but apart from noticing the renewal fee had increased by £100 I did nothing, I no longer needed insurance. Never the less shortly after the certificate arrived and the money was taken from my account.I telephoned to inquire and was informed that auto renewal was their policy however if I returned the certificate the ...

beware!!! post office car insurance uses automatic renewal!!!!! i had never heard of this before, but it gives a company the right to take money from your debit or credit card without your express permission. my quote last year from them was around £200- this year they sent me a renewal price of £572.50. strange as none of my circumstances have changed and have never made any claims. i briefly read the quote they sent and found a cheaper quote with another company. however i have j ...

Absolutely the worst insurer i have ever had the priviledge of using ever AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I have personally been insured by a good 80% of highstreet insurers and so when it was time to shop for a new policy on behalf of my mother i thought i would opt for the post office on her behalf, yes because it was cheap, but also because i thought the service would be class, how wrong could i be.The premium cost £125 for the year so my mum opted to pay by monthly installments, £13 a mon ...

Very dissapointed with Post Office Car Insurance - I feel very let downI was forced to guess a date when I bought my car - a month into my policy I had a letter to say the date I bought the car was incorrect and the fee for updating this was £20 plus £34 as the underwriters had reviewed the change and decided to up the premium. The car is 10 years old and I have had it for 2 years. I don't see why the lenght of time you own a car alters your premium!!!If you wish to cancel your p ...

Be careful! What I was quoted is not what I was required to pay!
If you get a good premium quoted by a comparison site, the chances are they won't actually stand by it, particularly if you've been a 'previous customer' of the Post Office, which I guess includes many people... and in which case they'll add on about 25%!

I used the Post Office to cover myself and my boyfriend last year. They gave us a fantastic price, so I snapped it up. As with all car insurance I made sure I read through the T&C CAREFULLY, and I didn't encounter anything out of the ususal. You shouldn't assume and/or rely on a company to do everything for you.
The few times I phoned them I got very cheerful UK based call-centre staff on the other end who were polite and always very helpful. This continued right up until the end of the police, ...

I wouldnt touch their car insurance again. I had read lots of bad reviews about them charging you £20 every time you call them regarding a query but thought if I paid in full once I received the documents there wouldnt be a problem. More fool me! You get a 14 day cooling off period so you can make changes without a charge but if you dont recieve you documents within 14 days of your policy which I didnt you will be charged. Let me recap - Their fault in not even posting documents out in ti ...

Are these companies just having a laugh at existing customers - relying on apathy to see what they can get away with?

As with so many companies these days "sorry" is a word that doesn't pass the lips of their staff easily. As a result, at some point in your dealings with them you will feel the need to say something like "Isn't this where you say - 'I'm sorry Mr/Mrs Customer.......'
Their desire to solve your problem is minimal - if your experience is like mine. The staff do not see you as someone who needs help; you are the problem.
