Good Points: You cannot be disappointed with this fantastic album. Every song has a different sound & each is unique & original. I went through a phase with each song that I liked the best. First it was Like Eating Glass, then Positive Tension, then Helicopter, then Price Of Gasoline, then So Here We Are & currently it is Compliments. I never get sick of Silent Alarm. It is definitely in my top albums of all time.
Bad Points: I seriously cannot say anything bad about this album.
General comments: If this album is not in your iTunes, you have problems. Bloc Party's music is alternative, it's a breath of fresh air. It's something original & full of talent. I had never heard music like this until I heard Bloc Party. They are definitely one of the best bands going around at the moment. The worst that could happen is if they go mainstream, then I think I won't feel as passionately as I do about them.

Bloc Party Debut with "Silent Alarm", and from the start it shows the band's undoubted quality and potential. Helicopter is my personal favourite, but other tracks catch the ear with their good rhythm and variety. A solid album marred only by a few bugs, but the next album has a lot to live up to.

Originally, I only started listening to Silent Alarm because a friend was, but now, Bloc Party have become one of my favorite bands. I love how their sound is unlike any other bands.

I first heard Bloc Party nearly a whole year before their debut album, Silent Alarm, was due to be released. To say then that the album was greatly anticipated is an understatement to say the least as not only was there a longer than expected release date but the band had long been coined as "this year's Franz Ferdinand". The comparisons between the two lie only in their mutual record label as Bloc Party by their own admission are an "autonomous unit of un-extraordinary kids reared on pop cultur ...

Bloc Party, Silent Alarm - The buzz surrounding Bloc Party should have reached the remote jungles of Africa by now, and for once it's pretty spot on. Their debut album, Silent Alarm, is a remarkable collection of edgy, eccentric, indie-guitar-post-punk sounds that are reminiscent of everything from Joy Division to At The Drive In to the Strokes. They combine unusual and poetic lyrics with memorable guitars and staccato rhythms to create a record that is reflective, angry and certain to be wor ...
