“Poor customer service and returns policy”

I recently bought a wifi card from scan, unfortunately this was not UEFI compatible or supported by the Compatibility Support Module (CSM) on my motherboard. This is unknowable for the customer before purchase, and can only be deducted after physically testing the card in the machine and ruling out all other possibilities. “Very pool quality with many elements not working”

I was excited about my order and the sequence of emails sent during the build process inspired confidence. Unfortunately the end result had loads of problems. The card reader did not work, the button on the DVD player did not press down so I have to use soft eject, some cables were mated wrong so some things can't be plugged in, key drivers were not installed, and the sound did not work out of the box... “Order delayed advised on delivery date no new delivery...”

For a black friday special, I received a generic "Hi there" email advising that the agreed delivery date of 01/12/2015 i.e. today would not be honoured. No other date was mentioned for delivering this item, although I was given the option to remove items from the order so these could be delivered. What can i say that hasn't already been mentioned about scan. My expereances with this company has been entirely personal and focused on my own computer. Over time i've upgraded that much that my computer is now compeltely my own, every part new and improved, and capable of so much more. One of the best ways you can judge a company (especially in the PC component business) is to judge it by its after-sales support. Scan are fantastic in this regard. “Nightmare after-sales service. ”

“Wasted our time, took money way before order would be...”

They really wasted our time and the communication was poor/non-existent. We put in a £4K order last week for stuff that was in stock with next day delivery (and yes, they took the money straight away). Got an email saying it was delayed due to stock issues. A week later, it says items due on 28th August (it's September 3rd now) but still no dispatch. When everything goes well Scan are a fine company to buy from. However, as I have recently discovered, when things go wrong this company is truly terrible. Their customer service seems to consist of excuses and empty apologies. No-one in their customer care team is willing to lift a finger to help. They would rather send out biennial pre-formatted corporate speak emails designed to pacify you, rather than actually help you in any way at all. “Computer Build Problems Sorted”

This April I built my fifth Computer, and for the first time ever had problems. It turned out that the culprit was a faulty Motherboard, brand new, but faulty. “Terrible RMA and customer service”

Suppliers can easily compete in a race to the bottom on price. The real test of a supplier is what they do if you receive a faulty or damaged item. I bought three WD hard drives from Scan in November 2014. One worked. The other two were DOA, giving cyclic redundancy check errors on attempting to initialise. Scan gave me an RMA and I returned the faulty drives. They rejected the RMA. In fact, they had tested one and agreed it was faulty.
