Scan.co.uk were extremely helpful when i came to designing the parts to build 3 beastly machines, over a course of several emails the parts were analysed for compatibility and stability, helping myself reshape my original design. Through scan.co.uk's excellent customer service i've been able to build the fastest most stable computers i've ever owned. All this was before over clocking with the advice on parts to provide sufficient cooling i've been able to boost the performance in the parts to the extreme levels. The service wasn't biased either not once was a part recommended because it was a sponsor my needs were always put first, which was a pleasant surprise, the customer service/sales team are simply there to make your purchasing a smoother ride, on delivery the items have always arrived next day perfectly packaged and when i ordered the wrong part i had an RMA code within minutes and a pick was arranged

I've yet to receive the items this review relates to but I have ordered before and would have said Scan were a decent retailer. But not any more. I decided to get my order through finance as I had done previously, buy now pay later makes purchases much easier to deal with when life could throw you big problems at a moments notice. I had the agreement for this confirmed by email quickly and Scan confirmed invoice was printed. Now 2 days after confirming, I receive an email stating simply "your ca ...

I ordered a cheap 'Scan' laptop, advertised on their website with "up to approximately" 2 hours of battery life from the 4-cell battery. When it arrived, the best I could get was 45 minutes. I sent it back - at my expense - for testing. Scan told me they ran a full screen video in WMP on the laptop for 2 hours before the battery ran out. No problem found sir, you can have it back, pay us more money and thank you very much. I coughed up, got it back, tested again and again. 45 minutes an ...

I was in a rush to build a new PC, and I ordered a selection of premium PC components (CPU, RAM, System Fans) on a Tuesday morning, using Scan for the first time, due to their lowish prices, and all parts were reported in stock. I expected the order to be picked and dispatched either that day or the next day. I chased the order on Wednesday, and customer service assured me it would be dispatched that day or I would be notified by the end of the day. I was not contacted and the order was not d ...

I ordered components to upgrade my PC. The memory was a 'Today Only' Deal with Memory Coolers. The box arrived on the day advised (which is their only plus point!), I unpacked the items and left them for the weekend to install. On installation (3 days later) I noticed that the Memory Coolers were just cases and did not contain the memory in them, so I contacted their customer number (sorry but cannot be described with the words Care, Support, Service) to advise them of the discrepancy, they advi ...

I think what happened to me was appalling and it seems like scan uses this technique of selling people faulty equipment and then giving excuses when you try and get it replaced just to make money out of unsuspecting customers. I've been working in the IT industry for almost 10 years and I do not break hardware on a regular basis. Scan.co.uk is now sending me a faulty hard drive back which I could probably use as a door stop. Thank you very much for wasting my money. I will never buy from y ...

I bought a pair of Sennheiser headphones from Scan, after finding a week later that the right headphone was actually not working. I contacted Scan and I was told to contact Sennheiser. After contacting Sennheiser I was told my contract was with Scan and that they would repair/replace them! So I emailed Scan.. again, and they agreed to have them back to test(I was not told about any charges this might incur). about a week later I was wondering what was happening, so I sent another email to get a ...

I have purchased items from Scan several times before all with no problems and this time has been no different. After placing an online order I had to wait a couple of days for one item - this wasn't a problem - but it also meant I was able to add to the order over two more days specifically from their 'Today Only' section which was very useful. The items were delivered the following day by CityLink and were well packaged. I have yet to find a problem with Scan as even their telephone customer ...

I purchased a full system from the Scan Online computer shop for myself to build. After spending over £800 on my full system to build, I paid for next day delivery, which went perfectly and arrived very quickly. Upon unpacking all the contents and getting ready to install the parts into the system, only to notice the retail boxed CPU had bent pins, so I immediately got on the phone to alert them to this situation. They went through there procedures. Sending it back etc. So I sent it ...

I have used Scan once only for this order, so have limited experience to comment upon. However, I was more than happy with the service offered me by Scan.co.uk. The PSU was at a great price - £10 less than anywhere else. The goods arrived within 3 days with no hassle - can't say fairer than that!

I ordered a PC system unit built from their components (no monitor). It took them 3 deliveries and six months (yes six months) for them to deliver me a working unit. I took 5 days off work in all, usually to sit in, waiting for a delivery that never arrived. I had to endure rude and indignant emails from their customer "service" representatives. That's when they actually bothered to answer me. I simply can't emphasise enough what an appaling experience it has been for me.

Scan www.scan.co.uk - Well, where do I start, I brought a CPU from scan and 4 months down the line it descides not to work, so I email amd they say we can replace/repair it for you, but you may want to check with your supplier first. So off I go to give Scan a quick email about this and to my supprise they email back within the hour saying ok send it back, so I do in all the correct packaging and a day later it has arrived at Scan's returns dept. I get an email from Scan later that day saying ...

I ordered a Seagate 160MB SATA 8MB cache hard drive from them. What I received was a discontinued model (ST3160021AS) which has a 2MB cache. So far they've refused to allow me to return it even though it doesn't match what they're advertising on their site.

I Have built many PC's from Scan components, they are cheap & good quality, BUT, if you should need to return anything that's faulty then you are in for a rough ride. They will try all sorts of tricks to fob you off.

I have built many, and I do mean, MANY PC's, most of which are made with 90-100% scan supplied components. The website is really good and they do seem to keep an eye on stock levels. I have had one or two problems with things not working when assembled, but only once was it bad kit, the other twice it was a hardware incompatibility that no-one knew about until three weeks after I had assembled the system. A Bios dowload for the Motherboard fixed that one!

About 3 or so weeks ago, I put an order into Scan to buy approximately £250 quid worth of kit. OK, not a business customer, and only used them a few times, but they seemed reasonably priced, and said they had the piece of kit in stock, namely an external DVD-RW. Along with it, I ordered a flash memory stick, a USB 2.0 PCI card, and a network hub. I'd used them in the past, and aside from a rather complicated invoice, where I seemed to have been slightly ripped off on the delivery charge, I ...

I've ordered over £800 of goods from Scan since Sept. 2000 but I won't be going there again due to their inflexible returns policy. My latest order was for £287 for components to build a PVR (Personal Video Recorder). I also bought other components from other sources. It took a while to build it all up as I also had to cable the house as well as build the PC, but I got it all working, after a fashion. Over the next few weeks I started getting problems with the Hauppauge Nova T. I tri ...

Scan's returns stink, you have to ask them lots of times for the same thing. This is what they wrote to me about a mouse that is faulty, I have tested it on 3 computers and it is 100% faulty, (note their highly technically competent staff's response): ------------------------------------- I am writing with reference to your recent return, the item received has been tested with no fault found. I can confirm that the item has been tested against any details with the return and also tho ...

Scan are the best people I've dealt with in five years of web shopping. Their attention to detail and information on order progress is absolutely first class. When this is combined with the lowest available price it is amazing. I ordered Sage Instant accounts software on a Friday morning and it was delivered as promised the following Monday morning.

Scan.co.uk mainly provide PC components, Scan are a cheap and generally reliable supplier. The only real problems I have found are in their despatch department. On several occasions 'next day' delivery has actually turned out to be 'in the next few days, probably', so if you need goods in a hurry, I'd recommend you avoid them.
