“Wasted our time, took money way before order would be...”

They really wasted our time and the communication was poor/non-existent. We put in a £4K order last week for stuff that was in stock with next day delivery (and yes, they took the money straight away). Got an email saying it was delayed due to stock issues. A week later, it says items due on 28th August (it's September 3rd now) but still no dispatch. “Lie to get out of warranty returns”

For not the first time, Scan have refused my RMA request and the warranty service they are legally required to perform. They do this by claiming that the barcode is not the same of the item, yet this is impossible. I've only ever purchased this item from themselves, so either they're incompetent and refuse to listen to their customers or they're purposely lying to save money. “It's how they treat customers when things go wrong.”

When everything goes well Scan are a fine company to buy from. However, as I have recently discovered, when things go wrong this company is truly terrible. Their customer service seems to consist of excuses and empty apologies. No-one in their customer care team is willing to lift a finger to help. They would rather send out biennial pre-formatted corporate speak emails designed to pacify you, rather than actually help you in any way at all. “Computer Build Problems Sorted”

This April I built my fifth Computer, and for the first time ever had problems. It turned out that the culprit was a faulty Motherboard, brand new, but faulty. Scan replaced the Motherboard, under warranty, not even scoring it against the Insurance I had taken out as a precaution against assemby mistakes, and the second attempt to build it was successful. “3xs overclocked bundle”

I ordered an overclocked bundle over the bank holiday weekend so was expecting a delay. To my surprise my oeder was processed very quickly. Scan contacted me at every stage of the build process and kept me well informed. Once the build was finished the goods were dispached the same day. They arrived the next day as promised. “Terrible RMA and customer service”

Suppliers can easily compete in a race to the bottom on price. The real test of a supplier is what they do if you receive a faulty or damaged item. I bought three WD hard drives from Scan in November 2014. One worked. The other two were DOA, giving cyclic redundancy check errors on attempting to initialise. Scan gave me an RMA and I returned the faulty drives. They rejected the RMA. In fact, they had tested one and agreed it was faulty. Have purchased from a few times in the past, no issues, but then never had to use customer services or returns, this is where it goes seriously downhill. Purchased a few items for a mini-itx pc build. As most will know, when ordering parts, rare to get all from one retailer. “Held up order for three days, then took 3 months to...”

Made the mistake of trying to buy an i5 CPU.Delivery didn't arrive, after 5 days I got an e-mail stating my order was held up for security checks, answered the questions and my order had still not been dispatched 3 days later so cancelled the order and ordered elsewhere. Their prices have undercut other suppliers and their ordering, delivery and notification process for both purchases has been top notch. I bought a sound blaster z sound card from them on 26/12/14. It arrived 30/12/14, not bad considering xmas and all. However, the sound card was faulty. To my shock I discovered that they charged £30 to RMA the card, where they did not discover the same fault as I had found/experienced. Fact is, Sales of Goods Act is quite clear, if it doesn't work for me as it should, I am entitled to a refund/replacement, & they have no right to charge £30! “Incompetent customer service, non functioning stock...”

Used to be good but not any more. Incompetent untrained staff at customer service. My last "urgent" order was delayed over and over due to parts not in stock, replaced by them with another parts as well not in stock. After 2 phone calls over 2 days finally dispatched but some parts selected by another operator incorrect yet again.  No reply to my complaint email, no apology, no refund of postage as promised. In a word, unreliable. I ordered from Scan on Monday 29 because their website said that everything was in stock, and paid for next day delivery in order to receive my order for New Year. Placed an order, money taken out of account, 4 days later received email saying that item is out of stock and no idea when it will be. It is unacceptable that a company that sells computers and computer hardware does not have a decent stock system. I started using Scan in February 2013, and apart from an item running out of stock before it was dispatched, it was RAM and they told me to select a different one or to wait, everything was delivered on time at a fair price.
