Just purchased a new Berette a 391, and the first time out the gun jammed using heavy turkey loads. Tried again with more turkey loads and jammed again. Now it's time for sket shooting competition, using winchester ounce and one eight shot and gun will not eject shells at all. Had to cycle gun mually all afternoon. Needless to say I'm not to happy with this product. Have taken it back to the vendor and they tried it out in the range and they couldn't beleive this was happening. So maybe... (read more)

I bought an extrema A391 a couple years ago and I really enjoy it for goose/duck and turkey. It cycles larger shells very well, however after a goose hunt this fall we did a grouse hunt and I was shooting 2 3/4 light "bird shot" and it jammed. I clean the gun fairly frequently, I would guess that the bird shot was a little to light to cycle the gun. But overall, I am very pleased with this gun. (read more)

I've hunted waterfowl among other birds for close to 50 years now. Started with a double gun, but shot Remington Pump Guns for 25 years. recoil punishes me more now than it did when I was younger, so I decided to try a gun with reputed low recoil and easy maintainence. i chose the 391 extrema max 4 camo and had Cabela's put one on hold for me as i was going to hunt near one of there stores. Got off the airplane and drove straight to Cabelas to pick up my new gun, and i was brave as I brought... (read more)

I just spent 4 days goose and duck hunting with my new Beretta AL 391 Xtrema 2 (with KO) and had to write this review. This gun is simply amazing and I am convinced that it is the finest waterfowing gun ever designed. The most impressive feature has to be the lack of recoil compared to any of the other flagship models on the market today. My hunting buddies could not believe that my shoulder showed no signs of bruising after 3 boxes of 3 1/2" #2 Black Clouds, despite being a very light... (read more)

The AL391 Extrema is by far the best auto loader ever. I've abused this gun like no other. From Argentina Dove to Mexico Dove and Duck to Sporting clays and Skeet, this gun has proven itself. I've had it for 5 years and have shot over 40,000 shells with not one jam or issue. I just got back from Mexico for the 6th year in a row and in 3 days I shot 1,100 cheap mexican shells with not one problem. Other hunters used Beneli super black eagle's and had problems. This gun just kept on... (read more)

Great for waterfowl. Beretta did a great job on the gun. However I must have gotten a rotten apple the gun kicked me into next wk even with the ko. Would not recomend it if you have smaller hands its a bulky gun. unfortunately will have to go back to the benelli sbe2. (read more)

The Xtrema 2 is a winner in all aspects. I have tried it in several birds hunting and trap shooting games and it is one of the best beretta's I've ever shot. I've been shooting Beretta's since my first hunting trip going from the O/U (my dad's shotgun) till the latest Xtrema 2, and I can say you will never regret in getting one for yourself. One of the good advantages it does not need cleaning like most of the gaz shotguns, you can shoot thousands of shots through it without cleanning. The... (read more)

This is my second Beretta Auto. My first one (A309) was bought in 1985 and i have shot well over 100,000 rounds from trap, skeet, doubles, international doubles, water fowl, and upland game birds. I had 1 failure (that i can remember) with it and it was an OLD shell that i should never have tried to fire anyway. I expect my Extrema 2 to last me as long with no misfires. For those of you who dont know how realiable a Beretta Auto is, you will just need to buy one for yourself. They truly... (read more)

I moved to this auto to take the strain off my arthritic shoulder (30+ years of shooting) and I use it for clays, pigeons and duck. It will now cycle anything from 24g upwards, there were no problems with 28g loads straight out of the box. (read more)

Overall I like this gun. It is my first semi auto. I normally use an O/U but I felt I should give a semi a try. After 5 or 6 boxes, I got the hang of this gun. I was really pleased. It is a good weight. The kick off feature makes it a very 'soft' gun to shoot. I shot about 10 - 15% better than I normally do with my O/U. Maybe it was the fact it was a new gun. Maybe it was the confidence I could break the birds. But using 2 3/4 normal load 8's, I came close (but not 100%) to going... (read more)

Perhaps this would work better if I cleaned it more often. But after 7000 rounds and only one cleaning, I have spent more time shooting and visiting with fellow shooters than cleaning. Both of which shooting and hunting is all about. The dogs are great too. (read more)

The Beretta AL 391 Extrema gun handles well mainly for waterfowl seeing as the extrema 2 has to aqua tech system and the Kick off reduction system to help reduce recoil on those 31/2 inch mag for goose and turkey. this gun also handles well for sport shooting wheather your shooting skeet, trap or sporting clays, and also if your use to your gun and its weight, its also a good upland bird gun. Shot well over 1500 rounds so far through it and no misfires. What can i say what a gun. when i got this gun my friends mouths dropped and when i showed them how fast it could cycle 31/2 they went to the nearest gandermountain and picked ones up for their selves. great for skeet. Best investment I've ever made on a gun well worth it. On a video on youtube it shows the xtrema cycling 12 rounds in 1.73 sec. Try to beat that Mr. Benelli. If you like to hunt a wide range of animals from... (read more)

I bought the Beretta AL 391 Extrema gun and have had a ball with it, as it it extremely reliable. I use it both for Sport Clays and rough shooting. Have shot rabbits and pheasants, and lots and lots of clays. To date over 5000 rounds have been fired, and no misfires. What can I say? Beretta has a winner with this one. (read more)

Beretta AL 391 Extrema - This autoloader is in the top of the pack for functional hunting guns. I shot ducks for 2 full seasons without having any malfunctions, and without cleaning the shotgun. That is an amazing amount of neglect tolerated by an auto loader. I cleaned it and experienced a minor problem but after oiling it a second time, it performed flawlessly this year as well.
The gas system reduces recoil substantially. The gun swings well in the field but is a touch heavy. The...

Speaking of malfuctioning (?!?!) my father and I have used a 12 caliber side-by-side Krupp Sauer for the last 50+ years and the only fault I made was breaking of the right needle as a result of numerous dry firings with no empty cartridge to cushion the hit of the spring...
<br>Does anybody know some one makig a 12/76 side by side barrels with an optic sight base? I would prefer that to anything else - that is - to have two barrels with two seperate triggers. This is the ultimate reliability I can dream of, and yet gives the poor game some chance, increases the requirements for quick and precise aiming, knowing that I only have 2 (TWO) shells... On the other hand having an optic sight and a proper choke (1 mm) would enable me to use e.g. the 'partition' shells which reportedly can make a very small group of 5 bullets in a 110 mm diameter circle at more than 150 meters!!!

I have a comment that I need to add, if the Xtrema 2 kicked you very hard with the KO installed, I advise you not to shoot the SBE2 cause it will rip your shoulder off. Everyone who shoot a benelli knows that it kicks like a mule compared to the beretta. The people who own it they prefer the inertia system over the gaz. Note that the Xtrema 2 has the combination of both.
