“Total Rubbish”

Written on: 07/05/2013 by JoolsC67

Called them to ask if they would sent a direct debit form to my uncle as he is ill in hospital and also deaf and has no mobile phone to call them. The first time I called they were extremely rude and told me they couldn't speak to me even to give advice and told me to go to the post office theyd give me a direct debit form and hung up on me. The post office then told me after I'd queued up for 30 minutes that I couldn't get a direct debit form from them. On calling back and holding for... (read more)

Took out their new phone line deal and was quite happy until i saw that the direct debit date wasn't the one arranged. Immediately contacted the PO and asked to rearrange, they informed me that they could not give a date as it is was down to the computer to come up with a date! So asked to cancel direct debit and asked them to send bill and I'll pay by debit card. They agreed and sent me a conformation letter to say so. I would have given ZERO stars, but there is no facility for this! This phone line supplier is a total joke. The phone line crackles, cuts you off when you are on a call to anyone and at worst there is no phone line. My phone stopped working on 16th March 2013. “Customer service is non-existant”

Written on: 21/03/2013 by Herald188 (1 review written)

I pay by monthly direct debit and download bills monthly. The billing system is rubbish as sometimes there is no bill there to download, even though they have sent me an e-mail stating that there was one. Other times I don't receive the advisory e-mail anyway. Trying to contact customer service is absolutely pointless. Via e-mail either you don't get an answer at all or eventually you receive some kind of stock answer that tells you nothing. I have never once received a suitable answer for... (read more)

Jibble's Response to IanTs's Review

Hello, I am a postoffice hp and bb employee and I really sympathise with your situation. Unfortunatly, the problem you are referring to is not a Post Office problem. After looking through the reviews on this site I can understand and agree with most of them, Post Office have alot of bad customer service. However like all companies we have good too.
Back to your case, the issue is not a Post Office rule. We are regulated by OfCom to protect our customers. This is done through the Data Protection Act. This does not permit us to share any information with anyone other than the account holder, a named authority on the account or with someone who after speaking to the account holder, has given us permission. In your case I am guessing you are none of the above so as much as I sympathise with your situation none of the staff were able to help because of the law. For example you could have been anyone in all due respect, and if we had given you information then I very much think you would be writing on here complaining that we had broken the law.
Further, the advisor you spoke to would have had a fine of upto £10000, along with the company, and he would have lost his/her job.
I am sorry again that this happened but if you would like to complain then I suggest you take it to Dai Cameron at number 10, as if you had been granted access to the account you would have been breaking the law along with the Post Office.

My sympathies! My mother moved house on 20th July. Nearly 2 months later, she still can't make a phone call. Initially the Post Office got her new address wrong, then once connected, she could receive calls but the call bar, which we had put on her old phone number, had been transferred to her new number!. I was told initially it could take up to 24 hours to remove the bar, then told I had been misinformed and it could be up to 48 hours. 3 days later and it still hasn't been removed. If I didn't think we would be back to square 1, I would do anything to leave the Post Office!

There is a credit limit for every customer, if your calls go over that limit, the restrictions will be placed on your line, and then you will recieve automated messages to pay the bill to have restrictions removed. If you are happy raise that limit, they can do that for you and then restrictions would not be actioned

No, I am afraid that this information is inaccurate and misleading (I suspect you, Ghty, work for the Post Office but do not have the honesty to admit this).

What actually happens is that the Post Office arbitarily and unilaterally imposes a credit limit without informing the customer then, without notice, disconnects the customer and insists that they pay a sum of money (even though all bills are paid to date) before they will reconnect. This IS extortion.

You seem to know very little about the PO protocol,
well done on the company behind it though. As for the BB bit of your summary really? haha
Also faults can be booked if DPA is failed but only if the fault is exernal ie. not requiring anappointment.

tbh if you worked for Post office previously (as im sure you did) then you know full well that none of this information about the service is correct or also that you mentioning about the systems etc. youve obviously been dismissed from the company and are holding a grudge aganist POL. grow up and get a life.
