Downfall is an extremely powerful, well-made and realistic film which grippingly depicts the last days of Hitler in his Berlin bunker. Ganz's performance is staggering. The only complaint I would have is that Hitler's addiction to various medical drugs is not shown, and it is thought that was reponsible for many of his more extreme mannersims and behavioural characteristics.
The film presents a rather neutral observer's point of view and leaves it to the viewer to come to his or her own conclusions about Hitler i.e. as far as I see it this is meant to be a 'fly on the wall' reconstruction rather than a dramatic depiction.
