Amazon were a brilliant company to be with until they sold out to lovefilm, i was with lovefilm before and they were sending no discs, and took out my money on a free trial, if amazon were still doing there own rentals i would not have left, i couldn't fault them they would be 5 star

I ordered a Buffalo Linkstation from Amazon with a 1-2 day delivery option. After 4 days I rang up their Customer Services and said my account was on 'Hold' (I could not longer login either)... I asked why - but they could not tell me as this was now a weekend... Monday morning I rang and they said that they would get th other department to call back - they did not... I rang again and explained the situation and they said they would get someone to ring back... Nobody did - but I did receive an e ...

I feel since Lovefilm took over this DVD rental my experience has gone downhill, would not recommend to anybody, have been trying to join further online companies but most seem to be run by Lovefilm.... will never ever use them again. My rating is based on experiences with Amazon only... if rating Lovefilm it would be a big fat 0, seems to be the general census on these pages.

Until recently my account was with Amazon and there was never a wait for titles. Most the time recieved back the next day and a new title dispatched the same day. Always seemed to get the title at the top of my list. Often recieved brand new release on first day. Had a good BluRay and HDDVD list.

I am upset that Amazon have chose to go the route of lousy LoveFILM. Rang, emailed and complained once the news was announced as I was worried the excellent service would deteriate. Unfortunatly now th ...

We use Amazon quite regularly and have good brand image and trustworthy, film side was great, but as far as I am concerned since lovefilm has took over the service has slowed down in my experience. But in my opinion and experience still better than Blockbuster.

Customer service has always been quick and efficient and they have always sorted things out immediately when I have emailed them. Never really had to wait too long for films although there can be an inevitable delay with some new releases.

I moved to Amazon 3 years ago after the appalling service I received with lovefilm. I am really sad that Amazon have chosen to go the route of lousy Lovefilm. I shall cancel my account before the changeover and will miss this reliable service very much. ...

Turnaround is now 4 to 5 days.
Far too many disks are marked very long wait.
Have had to email every month recently to correct errors on my rental list.
Used to be excellent but now I could not honestly recommend Amazon as they are clearly suffering from progressive Lovefilm.

I've been with Amazon for over a year now, but I will be leaving soon because they are being taken over by Lovefilm who are in my experience absolutely appalling.I have only ever had 1 faulty disc in that time and when I notified them I sent it back and they gave me an extra dvd rental to be used whenever I wanted. Royal mail lost a disc around xmas time and I was expecting to have to fill in forms etc, slightly worried about getting billed for a disc because I had no proof of posting. I reporte ...

Huge range of titles - but guarantee there's either a 'short wait' for a disc which is usually around 2months, or when you receive it, it'll be defective. I received SIX defective DVD's in a row. You can have your money refunded, but what for the time you've had wasted for what in my opinion was poor service?
    Don't recommend amazon's rental service!

This is the only rental company that i have any experience of, the service is very good, and the email updates and product selection works fine. No real issus although several DVDs have gone missing on their way back and fourth.

Looks like Amazon are making excuses to cover off not having enough of the popular DVDs I ordered over Christmas. I have seen other delaying tactics by other DVD rental cos but this is a new one. Not sending DVDs then saying problems with delivery is vague enough to work on most people. How many other people are being fobbed off this way?

They are quick enough at taking subscriptions. They never sent me an email re the "Problem" either to delay things further. Took me 40 minutes on the phone ...

Amazon used to be excellent but now it is taking about 1 week to get returned DVD's to be credited and then about 3-4 days for the next to be despatched.

Hardly getting any value out of my subscription now.

Sadly, am no longer able to recommend this service.

I've been with Amazon DVD rental for a while but am finally giving up due to the poor condition of many of the DVDs I receive. The problem is definitely the DVDs and not the DVD player because a) all other DVDs I've ever had have played fine - it's only Amazon DVDs I have trouble with, and b) you only have to look at some of them and purely by visual inspection alone I'm surprised that some of them play at all. There appears to be no quality control, and I have no idea what other people do with ...

I would have thought that DVD rental was a natural part of Amazon's business but their approach has been at best amateurish. I even had to suggest to them that sending a series in the correct order was not only a good idea but absolutely essential. Our experience is that while Amazon doesn't quibble about lost disks, their service is so slow that they are unusable.

I could not possibly recommend Amazon for DVD rental. I wish I could - despite our perseverance and many "second" chances, we've finally had enough. I have had DVDs that don't play it's simply not acceptable. Absolutely frustrating experience! As previous reviewers have noted, there is no evidence of quality control with damaged and unplayable dvds being very frequently dispatched. They are often visibly worn and scratched. The most annoying time is when the fault occurs an hour into the movie. ...

Very poor quality of dvd's, the 1st 2 on the free trial stuck on freeze frame every few minutes, leaving me with no option but to restart the film and fast forward it to find my place, over and over again, this was not a fault of our player, as we tested the Amazon dvd's out on a brand new player and it persisted on doing the same thing, and we have never had this problem with any other dvd before.
I feel totally frustrated with Amazon dvd rental as I complained about the 1st one and got exactl ...

Although Amazon DVD rentals have a wide range of titles, I have personally found 30 to 40% of DVDs are scratched and/or fail to play through to the end. Concluding from my experience I can find no evidence of quality control.

I've been with the amazon dvd rental service since may 06. The service is good, if you're like me and only watch a couple of movies a month. I subscribe to the £5.99, 3 titles a month service (sooo much better value than a £3.75 a time Blockbuster store). At the beginning of the service I received pretty much any title in my top 10 list. However from about October onwards I was finding less and less top 10 titles and more and more further down the list being sent. Of course I co ...

I have only good things to say about Amazon, in comparison to Love Film, who I also tried, with Amazon I could choose pretty obscure stuff, and everything arrived pretty quickly.

Some occasional issues with them not recieving what I send out, but easily fixed. So no probs really.
