Always have been and always will be a huge fan of la senza. I was happy to pay the 30£ a bra before all the offers etc came in people should realise you do get what you pay for and la senza hasnt always been as cheap as it is now and most shops at the moment are shops that are getting rid of all the old stock ready for the new stock to come in. I recently went to la senza in the high cross shopping center in leicester. i asked to be fitted and the lady spent a great deal of time with me helping me find the right sort of bra. the most friendly and helpful service i have ever received.

“Poor sizing, price and choice!”

★★☆☆☆

written by elea on 19/03/2013

After shopping with La Senza for years after a friend's recommendation I'm sad to give it this review but it's an honest one. I never had any problems with their online service and their in-store service was always friendly and approachable. BUT. I finally took the plunge to begin looking elsewhere for bras - after having my only ever fitting with La Senza - in the hopes of finding somewhere more affordable and with more options. Even with my NUS student discount the items are still pricey and certainly very limited recently. I went to Ann Summers and got measured. Not only were they amazed at the size that La Senza had put me in (38DD), it was before they'd even taken my actual measurements and only seen me fully clothed. (Turns out I'm actually a 34E! So not even a forgivable slight difference.) Compared to my La Senza service, the Ann Summers staff were helpful and fully informative about the sizings and recommendations. (And a lot cheaper with plenty more options). I hope La Senza do improve, as a shop that only really sells underwear I expected better of them. I may try again in the future, but I won't be recommending them anytime soon.

“Disappointed at la senzas latest styles and prices”

Was so sad when la senza went into receivership in 2011 but was relieved that the company was taken over. however their long awaited website is a huge disappointment as are the contents of the restyled shops. All the pretty classy satin/silk lingerie has been replaced by trashly looking highly coloured poor quailty items which look just like primarks or a street market traders lingerie but at 10 times the price!! Im not sure what age group La senza are trying to target but it appears to be young teenagers who surely wont spend enough to ensure a suceessful profitable business model PLEASE, PLEASE la senza, get some new designers in and start stocking the kind of feminine lingerie in satin and silk again that you were so famous and popular for originally!! In the meantime I will reluctantly have to shop elsewhere ....

“No longer "does it"”

★★★☆☆

written by Selina12 on 24/07/2012

I used to be a massive fan of La Senza when I was in my late teens early twenties. Their underwear always seemed cheeky without being smutty and the shops had the air of a boutique. The packaging (in unnecessary boxes) seemed opulent and the smelling salts they sometimes included (to make it smell heavenly when you got it home) were divine. Unfortunately for me then came Theo Paphitis, or the knowledge that Theo was behind the company. It kind of ruins the whole sexy feel of it went you imagine that Theo has been looking at your underwear! La Senza is all about feeling sexy so once that's gone there's not much left (literally) - it's a shame for them that he was so publicly associated with a brand that should be mysterious, but then maybe it's just me that feels this way? I still have some La Senza pieces in my draws, but I can't say I have anywhere near the fun used to have in them! ;-)

“Never again!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DebzM24 on 22/01/2012

As a big chested girl there aren't many places I can get bras that fit and aren't too expensive. I decided to try La Senza a few months ago, I bought a few bras and undies to match, but about 2 months later the underwire was coming out of all of them. A friend told me this was because I had been putting them in the dryer, so I bought another two and made sure I always put them on the clothes-horse but the same thing happened! My partner bought me a bra from La Senza last month for Xmas and I decided to see what would happen. Without a word of a lie the wire was coming out of the bra after ONE wash! Never Again!

“Nicely packaged and great 2 for 1 deals”

Have to say they did a fantastic job of wrapping up the items that i didnt try and open it to check them as it looked so nice. Tissue paper and clever sticker seals. Their Christmas deal was 2 for 1 which gave me the chance to spoil her with twice the amount

I used to get a lot of my bras from LaSenza as they did nice bras in bigger cup sizes but recentely I've been in there and found every single bra style I looked at in there is padded. I certainly do not need any help in looking bigger and I wish they'd stock more bras that aren't padded.

Other than that I like the other stuff they've got in there, lovely pyjamas nice knickers and the prices aren't too bad either.

I think La Senza is a nice shop, and it has some beautiful bras. Their nightwear is also nice, and sizing is good. I normally take a size 12, and I can get into a size 12 at La Senza, unlike some other shops.

“In the relatively niche market of lingerie, La Senza...”

★★★★☆

written by Aurora on 17/04/2006

In the relatively niche market of lingerie, La Senza has become a leader within the UK, by bridging the gap between designer and high street styles and prices. The Company, overall, provides good customer care, offers a range of specialist services and products, and strongly promotes the brand through visual merchandising.

The flagship Oxford Street branch is in a prime, affluent location, accessible from several tube stations (Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road, Marble Arch, and Bond Street). The store front is attractive, with well lit, colourful window displays, and a clearly defined, modern interior layout. The walls are curved, giving the a store an appropriately feminine feel.

Inside, the store is merchandised effectively to maximise sales. La Senza colour is rich and vibrant, with unique styles. The displays are usually divided into 'zones'; there's a clearly defined section for each different range, such as 'glamour', 'Love La Senza' and 'sportswear'.

Each bra has matching briefs or a thong, and the variety of accessories that are also available encourage multi-buys. Customers can also purchase nightclothes (£10 - £40), basques (£20+), bra accessories, socks, slippers (£10), hosiery (£8), and swimwear, among other related product lines. This makes the store a 'one stop shop'.

La Senza's average-price bra and briefs set costs between £16 and £25. Bra sizes range from 30A to 38F, while nighties and babydolls are classed as small, medium, large, and extra large. The size you need varies according to different styles, but as a rule of thumb, small covers dress sizes 8-10, medium is 12-14, large is 16-18, and extra large is size 20. This can be a nuisance for customers who are between sizes.

Although I was impressed with the high standard of service I personally received, I noticed that several team members were standing around doing nothing, instead of getting out onto the shop floor and building a rapport with customers. Two members of staff were approaching customers and being exceptionally helpful; these two unfortunates were rushed off their feet while their colleagues merely watched them. Better floor management is definitely needed.

I appreciated being given time to myself to browse. However, I feel that acknowledging customers more often, ie when they come into the store, would provide a more welcoming atmosphere. Pointing out special offers and add-on items when possible, will promote sales and really make the customer feel special.

La Senza's unique selling points include a packaging and gift wrap service, including free scented beads. Receipts are offered in individual envelopes, and the (paper) carrier bags are well designed and reusable. These complimentary 'extras' add warmth and encourage brand loyalty.

The free measuring service is, of course, highlighted within the store. The changing rooms are spacious with flattering lighting, and contain satin wraps, allowing customers to request extra items without embarrassment and spending time getting dressed. Staff will take as much time as you need in helping you to find the perfect bra for your individual shape.

I think that the team should also promote La Senza's store card, which comes with some good benefits. You will receive a 10% discount on your shopping when you open a card in-store, even if your application is rejected. You have 60 days interest free credit, and can use the card at lots of other high street stores. The La Senza card also gives you the option of withdrawing cash (it is essentially a credit card). The APR is high at 29%, so it's probably wisest to take full advantage of the interest free payment period!

I like La Senza's products. They have something for (almost) everyone, and I found the shop to be a pleasant environment, but I expect more from a flagship store. Commercial awareness is obviously a must, but it is pointless if customers are not the priority. Speaking as a retail manager, I would get the service up to standard: all team members need to move at a fast pace, making an effort to show WHY and HOW the Oxford Street branch is La Senza's number one store in the UK. They are the national face of the country and should be more aware.

Nonetheless, La Senza stands out amongst its contemporaries. I find M&S still relatively boring when it comes to underwear; Agent Provocateur is expensive; Knickerbox is cheap and cheerful, and Ann Summers lacks the class and glamour that La Senza offers. Even La Senza's sister company, Contessa (both are part of the Ryman group), does not offer the same value for money. The company is one of the few high street retailers continuously increasing profit. La Senza has everything to play for, and should develop its people to the best of their abilities.
