Good Points: Located quite near New Delhi train station. Even though walking in the area almost out of question.
Bad Points: In Usa/Euro standards poor quality 1 star hotel. Overpriced like all Delhi hotels and also dirty. Everything takes a lot of time e.g. signing in to hotel and signing out. Located in bad area that is a full of beggars and people who live on the streets so the streets are a full of human poo. My advice is that stay a far away from this hotel and even better from whole Delhi. If you will visit anyhow you will learn reasons why it's like that. To tell about all the awful things in India would be a very long novel.
General comments: My advice is that stay a far away from Hotel Ajanta and even better from whole of New Delhi. If you will visit anyhow you will learn reasons why its like that. To tell about all the awful things in India would be a very long novel.

As soon as I stepped off the plane in New Delhi, I was warmly welcomed by the representative of Hotel Ajanta at the airport. He was helpful and we had a great conversation on our way to the hotel. When I arrived at the reception, I was greeted by very friendly people.
My room was lovely, very clean, the bed was comfortable and I slept well. Overall, I give Ajanta hotel 10/10. Next time I come to India I will stay here. In the past I have stayed at several hotels in Delhi and this is by far th ...

It was a great pleasure staying at Hotel Ajanta where everything, including staff, facilities and personal attention to guests, was excellent to say the least. We arrived at the airport in New Delhi and were quickly escorted to the Ajanta Hotel by an excellent driver. We got Super Deluxe rooms, which were larger than Deluxe with a coffee table, chairs and AC. The owners of the hotel also run a tour agency if you need tourist advice/assistance. There is a conventional restaurant on the ground flo ...

This was pretty poor considering it had been recommended by Lonely Planet. The photo's shown on websites are nothing like this hotel. In fact, I don't believe it was the same place.
The staff at the Hotel Ajanta in New Delhi, India were friendly, apart from the knocking on our door late at night asking 'whether we needed anything', which was another ploy for a tip, as that's what India runs on!
I do not recommend you book any tours direct from the hotel. Go across the street and get a quot ...

We arrived at the Hotel Ajanta at 3am after a very long flight. Our driver met us at the airport and we were impressed that he was there as hadn't had any confirmation regarding this. However, despite the time of arrival one of the managers insisted on trying to sell us a tour despite us saying we would rather wait until the morning to discuss this. We had reserved a double business room but were allocated a twin room which was shabby and the extractor fan was extremely noisy. The next evening w ...

We stayed with Hotel Ajanta for only one night, but just to let you know that I really appreciated the greeting! We were welcomed in as soon as we left the taxi, which made me feel very safe straight away, as I felt a little uncomfortable in Delhi after Leh!!
I really appreciated the fact that we were taken into a room with air conditioning by a lady who spoke really good English and dealt with our booking very efficiently!!
The fact that she ushered us in very quickly after the "unfriendl ...

We highly recommend Hotel Ajanta, especially for first-time travellers to India. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and can efficiently organize anything you may need. They are confidence-inspiring, which is nice after first hitting the chaos of Delhi. The rooms are immaculately clean and cool and the hotel restaurant has great food and is a good place to meet others who may be heading in the same direction as you.

We stayed in Hotel Ajanta for a couple of times during our trip. It has nice, clean and affordable rooms, the restaurant is good and cheap and the service and information given about India was of great value for us for planning the rest of our trip.
We used the accurate information in the Lonely Planet to plan our 4 week trip to India. To help the lonely planet up-to-date we like to list up some hotels (listed in the book) that had excellent service this hotel is listed on page (Page 193).

Ajanta hotel is a good hotel with caring personal. The neighbourhood is very New Delhi crowdy but into the hotel is quite.
There are enough facilities like internet, a good traditional Indian restaurant, elevator and a travel guide.
The rooms are clean and good priced.
We had a good time!!!

We thought Hotel Ajanta was excellent in all; our rooms got progressively better with each time we stayed. The staff are wonderful and really looked after us and the restaurant food and service was first class. In all of the chaos that in Delhi, the Hotel Ajanta was our saviour, where we could get peace and quiet and didn't need to leave the hotel for any services such as Internet and telephone; everything was all there for us. We would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Thanks for everything.

During our trip around India I have definately found the Hotel Ajanta the best place to stay. The rooms which are kept very clean and situated , only 2 - 3 minutes from New Delhi Train Station and a 5 minute journey to Connaught Place.
The hotel also has a range of very useful facilities. Travel Agents and money changes are situated inside the hotel and there is an excellent 24 hrs internet service which is the cheapest we have found. Adjoining the hotel is a very decent restaurant that is ...

Staying at Ajanta Hotel was like a break of fresh air compared to the rest of Delhi. The staff are extraordinarily helpful to a level that surpasses some 5 star hotels.
We used the in-house travel service which on the whole was good value for money and we had an enjoyable 10 day trip around Rajasthan.
Ajanta hotel is unique in that the staff are honest with their prices - there is no need to haggle and we were never left feeling we had been "ripped off". Cafe Vagabond is good value for money ...
