Good Points: The acting was superb, the interaction between Patrick Stewart and Joshua Jackson was believeable as student and mentor.
Bad Points: I feel the play could have been publicised better. I am not from London and found very little information on what it was about prior to attending.
General comments: A Life in Theatre, Apollo Theatre, London - David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre
It shows the backstage goings on of two actors, Robert a seasoned actor at the peak of his career who mentors John just starting out. During the play you see the change in balance with the gradual rise of John and the fall of Robert.
I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. I wasn't sure what to expect beforehand but I was utterly charmed by the whole show. The production was clever with the play taking place in the prospective of the wings and backstage. It was extremely funny, heart-warming and, at times, a little sad. Patrick Stewart's performance was as expected, excellent and fluid, and Joshua Jackson excelled as a true stage performer, in his West End debut, he couldn't have done a better job.
