Good Points: great tactics to get you onto the market
Bad Points: Poor service!
General comments: I would definitely recommend them to my worst enemy. My agent was so nice to me at first and persuaded me to go on the market. Once I was on and they found a buyer for me, an offer was made, I accepted and the sold sign was up by the next morning. I rushed out there seeking a mortgage and they promised that they'd help to find me a suitable property to buy. What they hadn't told me is that my buyers were not on the market as yet. One year on I am still awaiting sale of my property. I was refused any other vewings as they considered it to be a waste of their time as I had already agreed the sale and apparently, I was lucky to find a buyer as no one else would possibly be interested in my property situated on a 'rundown' housing Estate. During the course of the year the agent has talked me into reducing my property by 20K to suit the buyers. Bairstow Eves often didn't turn up for booked appointments for viewing of properties I've been interested in and as made no effort finding me a mortgage. They also never return my calls.

I would not recommend Bairstow Eves Estate Agency to my worse enemy. Completely miss sold the property to us in the first place. After paying all of the huge deposit and agreeing a move we turn up with our removal van filled with all our belongings to find that the landlord had moved NONE of her things out of the flat and Bairstow knew this and failed to inform us. We had to put all of our things into storage and couch surf for a whole week! When we did eventually move in a week later the proper ...

We stated looking for a house as first time buyers. They knew we'd never done this before and Bairstow Eves Estate Agents seemed friendly and helpful. We saw a lovely house with them and we went through the financial advisor they recommended, which was countrywide. Country wide recommended and instructed a solicitor on our behalf which we were happy with. Then the mortgage fell through and the mortgage advisor was increasingly unhelpful and seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. We then ...

I bought my 1st property 2 years ago and after paying £1,000 up front for solicitors / mortgage fee etc i went on hols for a week.
When i returned Countrywide GAVE the work to another solicitor WITHOUT my consent, then banked the cheques ! When the new solicitors wanted paying, it was to be forwarded from Countrywide BUT they took a month to do and delayed my purchase by another month.

As we planned to migrate to Australia, decided to put our house on the market on 3 July 2007. Called my Bairstoweves local office as they were closest by. They showed up on 5th July, boasting constantly "we're the biggest and best agents in the country". Explained that we planned to migrate by mid September. No problem they said. Measured up the house, took various pictures and signed the 12 week Contract on a no sale no fee basis. Only on 10 July our house appeared on their website and on right ...

We viewed a property that Bairstow Eves Estate Agents had for sale. Myself and my wife loved the property so much that we offered the full asking price. The first thing they asked us was to provide proof from our bank that we were credit worthy. This was before they even wanted to forward our offer to the seller. We thought this was strange, but as we didn't want to lose the house, we went to our bank right away. Our bank had never heard of this type of practice before, but gave me a piece of pa ...

In addition to the bad points, we also suspected them of showing people round who had no interest in the house or could not have afforded it - one reason we suspected this was because of the behaviour of the people who came around, and because whenever we got a bit shirty they would suddenly find a viewer to encourage us to keep them on. When we had a terrible offer (£49k below asking price) we were pushed to accept it and to tell the Bairstow Eves estate agent what our lowest price would ...

As a buyer, I registered with all the estate agents, but Bairstow Eves kept constantly phoning with properties way out of my budget. They even tried to fix appointments without me knowing anything about the properties. One of the properties I did want to view, an agent was to show me around the property but didn't show.

Check to make sure you are not getting a FIXED RATE commission with Bairstow Eves Estate Agents. Remember, with fixed rate commissions the agent has an incentive to overvalue the property and sell at any price!
Shop around.
