Told me my holding fee I paid on the house would be returned. Well.. I never saw any of that money. Talked to a branch manager and they told me it was for processing fees. Sold my property through Haarts. Agent came to view the property and we agreed the commission to be 1.5% of the sale value. However on the contract he entered a figure in pounds based on the valuation saying this was just an example as they have to put a figure on the contract and not a percentage. However he told me it will be adjusted if it sold for a lower price which indeed it did sell at a much lower price than the valuation. Got a terrible shock when I received the invoice for the... Avoid, avoid, avoid. I used Haart Hucknall, Notts to sell my shared ownership property and they were awful. More concerned about getting paid than the customer. They came and took pictures and put them online which is fine however it would of been better if they had the correct information like the 1 vital piece of info that it was a shared ownership property. How could you forget the main piece of info? They placed the for sale board at the back of the property away from the main road so... (read more)

In July 2012 I had several valuations from different agents in my area, and decided to go with a competitor to Haarts. The next 9 months I was called weekly from someone from there call centre to state they had "customers" ready and waiting to buy my property. So in the end I gave in and decided to multi agent. I visited Haart Ipswich in a lovely large new office after seeing impressive spele on Saturday 20th April AM with no other customers there. I may be old in the tooth but quite simply I wanted to know without fuss what the commission would be on selling a £400k house just outside Ipswich I wanted a rough idea not having sold for over two decades but they were less than candid and when I became slightly more vocal they wanted me to sit down and come and see the property. That is completly unacceptable. You should have been made aware that there was another offer. You need to follow the branches complaints proceedure, do not let them fob you off and take it all the way to the ombusman. They have broken the strict code of the TPO and you may even get compensation. Section 7E States ''you must keep all prospective buyers who have recently made offers through you, and which have not already been rejected, informed of the exsistance of any offers submitted to the seller'' Dont let them get away with it, they have totally broken the code. I absolutely agree, we had an offer on a property and asked specifically to be told if another offer was made but after a week of hearing nothing I called to be told the property was sold! Haart tend to do the hard sell and get you to have amortgage through them so they can have complete control. They did this to us, claimed that the person doing the mortgages was independant of haart yet they phoned from the haart office. This leads me to believe that if you do not take a mortgage with them then they would be less likely to be enthuisastic about any offers you might have or even in your case send them on to the vendor. We offered 82 for house priced at 85 and was told they want 90, 1 week later it's reduced to 75. What is going off there? Is it because we didn't mortgage through haart? They even ignored some of our negotians. It's still on the market now and like you I think I might get in touch with the vendor directly.
