“Poor value for money properties ”

Written on: 07/12/2012 by MattBRIAN (2 reviews written)

I used this site to find a property, i was seeking a one bed flat in west London priced at 150k although Rightmove has a huge choice the majority are over priced all by estate agents . The properties you find on Rightmove are virtually the same as the ones you find on Zoopla, prime location etc. I soon realised that estate agents fees and Rightmove fees probably influenced the pricing of the properties on this site. Rightmove properties are only from estate agents so their is no competition.... (read more)

“Rightmove allow estate agents to abuse the search...”

Written on: 01/11/2012

Rightmove allow estate agents to abuse the search facility. The whole point in being able to choose which type of property to search for, is being abused. When you search for detached, semi-detached and some terraced properties come up in the search. This is not always obvious due to the way the agent has taken the photograph, it just wastes your time. If I wanted to search on a lesser site, I would use Zoopla. Rightmove used to be top of its game, now it doesn't check a single detail to... (read more)

“Just about good enough”

Written on: 05/09/2012 by SarahL81 (6 reviews written)

rightmove.co.uk have a strong foot hold when it comes to looking for renting online. What else is there to really use? I used the site recently and it did what I needed it to without blowing me away in the process. I think they could update the interface and offer you more pictures of properties. They always use pictures that show the good bits and then you go and see it and the has an awful bathroom of something is wrong with it that isn't on the listing. Now I'm not an idiot and... “Brighton Homes letting agent in Brighton, was fantastic”

Written on: 13/07/2012 by Scooper (1 review written)

I have to say, when I started to look for a property to rent in Brighton, I was a bit worried, 100's of agents and I contacted 70% of them and most didn't care, some said will call back, never did. But when I rang Brighton homes, the chap who answered the phone was happy, polite and friendly. Was really helpful, he talked me through the process and was not in a rush. He turned up promptly for the viewing, showed me the cost involved. Everything else went so smoothly, and I'm spending my 3rd... (read more)

“Out of date property ads and bad practice!”

Written on: 04/05/2012

There are properties on Rightmove which have sold upto and over year ago, they allow agents to advertise themselves through long sold properties. This wastes peoples time, also reduces the value of other properties around these long sold properties. Why the hell does the largest online property portal allow this to go on? Zoopla has stopped this bad practice, yet Rightmove feel they are above the law and blatantly advertise sold properties well past their sell-by-date. I have conted... (read more)

“PROPERTY OCTOPUS”

Written on: 19/11/2011

The house I stayed in had to be the most GRUBBIEST, UNKEPT, DIRTIEST place i've ever had the misfortune in staying in. Even the garden was unhygienic, full of waste from other tenants piled high. I will NOT be recommending it to anyone. The reason i've gone to the trouble in even writing a review shows how much I want people to stay well clear of this 'company'!! (read more)

Didn't you go to look at it before moving in? DOH! And how has this got anything to do with RightMove? They are a portal for estate agents - if you feel the property was badly advertised your first stop would be at the agents office surely. Or do you work for primelocation?

“I wouldn't reccommend this company at all. ”

Written on: 18/10/2011 by NotHappy123 (1 review written)

I wouldn't reccommend this company at all. I arranged a viewing and was left waiting for 20 minutes. I rang the office and they said the rep had txt me to confirm...to which I replied but still no-one turned up. I think it is totally unacceptable that they have just assumed that I didn't want the viewing, why would I arrange a viewing if I didn't want to look at the property. The rep even lied and claimed he hadn't recieved a text off me... he obviously ASSUMED I wasn't turning up as I... (read more)

My grandson rented a prperty in Canterbury. The office was not open to collect the key when I called depite being assured that someone would be in.We had to go on the wbsite to find the main office (in exeter) The person there then had to find the owner of the property and ask him to bring a key. As he lived an hour away, this meant another wait.Problems didn't end there.Final demand notices were awaiting my grandson(in his name)for water and a demand from southern electric for another large... “This website brings together in one place the adverts...”

Written on: 26/08/2010

This website brings together in one place the adverts from the majority of all the estate agent's websites.
If there are out of date properties listed on the site it is usually because they haven't been taken down from the estate agent's website.
The best way to use the site is to find properties you like the look of, then refer to the estate agent's own site to see if it's still available.
Used like this, it's a brilliant time saving device for finding as many properties as possible that... (read more)

Both Right Move and FindaPorperty.com contain countless properties that are no longer available. When I was looking for a place to rent I called up several different estate agents to enquire about properties listed on the above sights. Every time I was told that the property in question was no longer available but that they had others on their books and that I should come in for a chat. One estate agent I spoke to said that estate agents don't bother taking the old properties down as they... (read more)

This is an on-going problem that all property websites experience which is actually out of their control. Its an absolute nightmare as agents like to "show people what they've let" - basically a tool to draw people in and gain instructions.

It's actually against Rightmove's terms and conditions if you read through them.

I have enquired about 2 properties i found on Rightmove.co.uk and on both occasions, never even got a call back from the agent, so whos fault is this? the 1st one, I rang the agent 3 hours later after not hearing anything only to be told, sorry its already gone.. yet rightmove still had it listed as available.. not a very good start. the 2nd time, i never heard a thing, so im guessing its the same deal as the 1st one.. the IPhone App is great.. but if the properties on it, are not kept up to... Website is brilliant, the fact that it links through to local schools and results table is very important to me and my family who are looking to move into a place for the long run, therefore a good promary school and secondary school nearby is very important.

Rightmove even have an iphone app and I love it, it even gets you houses for sale based on your GPS location which is very nifty when you are scouting an area. (read more)

I regularly visit www.rightmove.co.uk to search for my possible first home. The site looks clean and is easy to use, the introduction of several new filters makes it easier to remove retirement homes which is great.

It would be good to be able to select several areas at once instead of having to select a whole county.

The search for properties for sale or rent near to a rail or tube station is a nice touch. I imagine this is handy for people looking for new jobs and having to relocate. (read more)

Rightmove have recently added a new feature to their search called Draw a Search using a Google maps interface which has made it easier to look at several areas. Since I have been looking in several different areas across London this is really good and stops me having to make separate searches each time. Looks pretty good so far.

We have used RightMove.co.uk for letting property in Cambridge, Newmarket and Haverhill, and I have to say we got a pretty good response from Landlords and Tenants looking to rent. I'm not sure about the virtual tours of houses that some agents use, as it seems to take a long time to load, but I agree that agents need to update their RightMove details more often. (read more)

I have recently used RightMove.co.uk to look for houses to buy and then rent after we changed our minds about buying. I have found a lot of estate agents don't really update their websites often enough making house hunting online pointless as the one you want has invariable gone 6 weeks ago. RightMove was a lot better (though not quite perfect) and we were able to find properties based on our search criteria that actually existed. (read more)
