Booked for a day trip from NYC to Washington and back through the Megabus website in advance. Got a very good price (less than $25 per person after tax and fees) for premium seats around a table. The outward trip was excellent. We presented our reservations and boarded the bus, that took us quickly to our destination. The return journey was less straightforward and we arrived back in New York an hour later than expected. The delay was a combination of leaving Washington later than timetabled, the long-winded route back (presumably to avoid tolls) and an extended stop in Baltimore. The driver on the return leg was also abrupt with several customers. Free wifi didn't work on the first bus, but it did on the second. On this occasion, the seats were not completely sold out so there was no problem with reserved seats being sold. We were sure to be at the stop at least 15 minutes before departure to ensure we did not fall into this trap, which is difficult to find on their website and not mentioned in the reservation email. The buses were well conditioned, with the bus back actually being cold - quite a feat in the recent heatwave! Megabus got us from A-B (and eventually back to A) at a good price and I would be prepared to try their service again next time.

We (myself and 3 others) had a megabus booked to take us to Sheffield for the day, and we had it booked to bring us back on the same day on the evening. Our experience there was average as we were mostly excited and looking forward to going out for the day. On the way there their weren't many people actually on the bus so it was good, it wasn't full. We were told that the chargers would work on the bus and with being on the bus from Newcastle to Sheffield it took around about 3 hours but they did not. Phones these days aren't that good so if you were to go then get one of those battery charging cases or use other devices. The toilets were APPALLING, the door was extremely hard to open, so small to get into, and the sink did not even allow the water to go in it, it went on the floor leaving everywhere soaking! Regardless of that their was air conditioning on and the bus was good. On the way back however the bus 20-25 minutes late which we were worried about getting the last metro home in Newcastle as this bus would just make it in time. The bus came eventually and when we got to the seats at the top, there basically was not a seat spare! Our four tickets booked together had to be split up and sit where ever on the bus, we all got seperated which was not so fun at all! The driver told us that there was going to be delays as the A1 was closed and we would not arrive back in Newcastle until 11:45-11.50. We were buggered for the metro. Luckily the driver announced later on that we were headed to get back earlier and thankfully we would get back in time. The driver was lovely and kept us informed at all of the stops and on what was happening with the traffic. We weren't expecting anything extraordinary since we only paid little amounts for our seats but overall we would rate this service as a 3/5 star!

I planned to get the megabus from Sheffield (Meadowhall) to London Victoria on 05/12/14. I got to the bus station early in hopes that the bus would arrive a little earlier than expected, but it was late by approximately 15 minutes, which isn't too bad at all compared to some of the reviews that I have seen on here! The bus was a double decker, and there were barely any free seats left. I found one on the top deck and got settled into my seat when a girl sat next to me, she was really nice and basically told me her life story (thanks megabus, I now have a new friend from Austria)so the journey went pretty quickly. The bus itself was more like a coach - people on here have been saying that its just like a normal bus you would catch in a city, but I found it to be quite comfortable - however, the toilet was a different matter. It was foul. I'd reccommend you use the loo at the bus station before you get on the bus, haha. The journey took about 3 hours to get to London, then we were in the heavy congestion for about an hour, so we arrived on time to Victoria Station. On the way to the station you have a little drive around London, more specifically Baker Street and Oxford Street. The bus home was to the same standard, but we set off on time, however arrived around 45 minutes late. All in all, I would reccommend megabus if you want a cheap journey (a fiver each way from Sheffield to London - wow!!!), but not the most comfortable. 3 stars for megabus!!

GOOD THINGS > The seats were very comfortable, due to being the same style as what you'd expect on a typical Stagecoach bus. > The journey time isn't too long - shorter than National Express, anyway. /wink > Personal air-conditioning. You can't control how much cool air you receive, but you can choose directional flow and turn it on and off as you wish. > Personal lighting. If you're travelling at night, you'll be pleased to know you can read a book. BAD THINGS > Enough legroom to get by, but nothing to sing and dance about. And God Forbid you ever drop something for the abyss will consume your belongings and your journey will most likely include a memorial service for your dearly departed iPod. > I managed to retrieve the packaged wrap I dropped after about 4 hours, but the floor was obviously wet as the card packaging my food came in was soggy and rather intimidating. > Want to lose weight? Go to the toilet! Sit and pee for 30 seconds and you'll find yourself in a personal but claustrophobic sauna. But instead of the luxury eau de toilette of body odour and pretentious rich couples, you're breathing in the earthy aromas of urine and possibly something slightly worse. > Once you've bathed in the splendour of your bladder, it's common knowledge to wash your hands afterwards. Unless you're a Megabus user, in which case, the sink facilities don't work and you pray you don't eat anything else today. Thanks for reading my review; I hope this has helped!

The journey from Birmingham to Leeds journey was pretty average. There was a delay of 50 mins. The bus was quite average compared to their website that shows, modern fleet -with WIFI onboard. There wasn't any wifi on-board , nor the reclining seats. The worst thing was the unlean washroom ( door lock was broken + too much smell in the washroom ).i opted for this company because it gave me the ticket at a reasonable rate. Overall the staff was really helpful with the bags and all and were really friendly and kind.

I traveled down to London on 15/5/14 on gold bus comfortable trip very smooth actually slept! However on way back 18/5/14 not sure which route the driver took but don't think it was the motorway! very rough arrived in Glasgow 40 mins late next bus had been held for us, driver very rude told us to put our luggage 'down there' we did so he then got off the bus to close luggage compartment ,got back on the bus and in front of everyone told me and the other lady to go and sort your luggage out -you cant leave it there! on our arrival in Inverness he didn't even get out of his seat to help anyone, The face of the stewardess would have cracked wide open if she had smiled all in all the very unpleasant people, we weren't driving the first coach it wasn't our fault we were late sent email complaint got an automated reply and nothing else!

Travelled Cardiff to London Megabus Gold, tickets were selling for fiver on the day. The interior is nice, but was disappointed all the seat upstairs were facing each other, felt awkward and most passengers were either on their phones throughout entire journey, or trying to avoid eye contact. Personally I think you could still have forward facing seat upstairs, and tables, I couldn't wait for the journey to be finished. One girl said we are all sitting facing each other and no one is talking. I understand on the sleeper buses the seats fold out, but for a day service megabus gold service in my opinion more forward facing seat upstairs please. The complimentary tea/biscuits were nice, not like an airport hostess service, but good. It was worth the five quid, although I personally like to have my own space why travelling, with four sitting around the table was less leg room and I think I'd rather usual service, than sit for 3 hours or more trying to avoid eye contact with the whole bus. Worth the fiver though !

Prices are good, left London on time and arrived in the Midlands as published. However, the windows were in desperate need of washing, so much so that it somewhat obscured the views out of them.

Coaches were on time to Plymouth, London and Dundee there and back. Good quality coaches, too. However staff and drivers seem very short tempered and annoyed, had an enquiry at London for their help desk and the lady was rude and so was the driver from London to Plymouth. Also confusing at one point because the coach said Exeter only and still went to Plymouth which prompted my question in the first place. But you can't complain too much at getting from one end of the country to the other for less than £25.

I have recently used the Megabus to travel from Chicago to Cleveland First of all, the Megabus stop is at the open air Meaning you will wait under any weather condition for the bus which was the case for me I had to wait for the bus at 11:30 am at Chicago at a degree of -16 which was freezing cold until the bus came They don't have a covered/closed bus stop where you can comfortably wait The other point is about the luggage allowance Although I had one bag which was almost the size and weight allowed, they assisted that the bad was too large/ heavy and asked for a $10 more The bag was allowed on a plan previously with the same luggage allowance so I know it is good Some of my friends were turned off and not allowed to ride with an excuse of having heavy bags On the other hand, the bus was warm, calm, had Wifi and there were alot of empty places where you can sit comfortably without any problem The driver was good and the trip was safe It was not a bad trip over all and it would be very good if you were prepared Good luck

Me, my mum and little brother used this service to visit my dad who is working away in London. We booked online, and only found out (after noticing the small print AFTER we had ordered) that the megabus would only take us part way to east midlands parkway, at which we would board a train to take us to St Pancras. We wanted a journey as smooth as possible because my brother has anxiety problems. We tried to explain and get a refund, but we could not. On the outbound journey, the coach was jam packed, but the interior itself is very comfortable and clean. The large (ONE POUND) signs on the side of the bus make you feel a little uncomfortable though! Everything was fine after that, but the return journey was quite confusing. We had not been informed which platform our train would be on, where to get our megabus tickets, or who to look for. Luckily, I had already looked on the national express website and found the same train which gave me the platform number. When the member of staff finally arrived, they didnt give us tickets, and just told us to get on (seeing as though he turned up extremely late). On the megabus on the way back, the driver was friendly and the coach very quiet. The toilets are nice and clean. Would recommend travelling on a Sunday! Overall, much cheaper than trains, gets you from A-B (via C!) but will use national express next time for a less confusing journey, at only a little more cost. (Also, if travelling on an East Midlands train, try and get in the quiet coach (coach A) if you can, some seats aren't reserved and the is interior much nicer!)

This is a really cheap service, I had trouble seeing how they make a profit.I Paid £18 to london from cardiff each way for three people, thats £6 each!It was in the recent bad snow so i was afraid they wouldn't pick us up.Phoned customer service who where always pleasant as i constantly phoned them for reasurance that the bus would run and never lost patience with me.Bus was 15 minutes late but how can you complain in this bad weather?loads of room, warm, pleasant driver. From london to cardiff the bus was cold but on time and no problems.I think alot of the complaints are from people who expect first class service from a company that provides a service for next to nothing.Get a grip people!

I travelled from Birmingham Airport on Saturday 23rd October 2010 to Leeds by MEGABUS.I was apprehensive because of reading previous reviews, but hey ho I need'nt have worried. Coach was on time and driver was helpful even mentioning that my ticket was booked for 5.45 A.M on the monday morning when I thought it had been booked for the Monday evening !
Got a friend to try and change booking on line when I arrived at destination, no joy ! tried calling and got a lady who was quite abrupt who told me she had tried the website and it was working ! Kept trying all day Sunday still no joy so eventually admitted defeat and friend had to book another ticket for me to return home on Monday at 5.15 pm. So instead of trip costing £10.50 it had cost me another £12.00 on top ! Still cheaper than British Rail !
Overall, I found the experience okay and will definatley use again.
it had cost me another £12.00 on top ! Still cheaper than British Rail !
Will definatley be using them again.

Have to say have used mega bus from leeds to london and back and even tho its value for money there are a few things that have dissapointed me about the service the more i have used it, the buses are not very clean, there have been times when they have been late especially the 13.30 from leeds, there seems to be problems with the buses too ie the air con not working on one particular hot day which made for a very uncomfortable ride indeed, the drivers seat, the mobility ramp that was stuck and the bus could not go anywhere as it is computerized and we are also now experiencing a problem with the web site when trying to book tickets its down more than its up and it costs 60p a minute to book over phone which can often add another couple of quid on your ticket.

Mega Bus has vastly improved in the last few years! At one point they were using old double decker city buses (on long distance routes!) The drivers were even more miserable and hostile than National Express (and that's saying something!) and the buses stank.
I've used them twice in the past two weeks though and the new buses are more comfortable than Nat Ex, the driver was laid back but actually friendly! Oh and they seem to stop at services now! Way back I did Glasgow to London without stopping once! One last point, on the London-Newcastle-London route it's about £30 cheaper than a full Nat Ex fare and is actually quicker by about an hour as it doesn't trawl around various pointless North Yorkshire villages!

We have no experience of Megabus UK but the coach we travelled on in America was comfortable and had good airconditioning and the toilet was better than on many planes.

I found this review somewhat helpful because i am about to travel on megabus to Leeds on Thursday. Can anyone give me any advice about travelling on megabus - will i be able to take luggage as i can on a normal coach? i'll be travelling for about 9 hours surely i will have access to a toilet??
