Travelex stole my money. I lost over $600Aus when I converted my Japanese Yen to Pounds yesterday in Hong Kong. All I asked for was a cash passport with my Yen loaded on and instead I got my money changed into HK dollars (loosing $300) and then in to Pounds (loosing another $300). I immediately declined and wanted my card cancelled only to be told it was too late. The cashier rushed me and never gave me any details. She kept saying "no commission, no commission" and "this is a commercial rate… Read Full Review

Not a trustworthy business. They are the currency exchange equivalent of payday loans. Transaction fees and conversion rates are unreasonable. Poor customer service. Unreliable advice. I will never conduct another transaction in this or any Travelex store, online or telephone. Calling the help line provided no resolution. They are good at bait and switch. Buyer beware when dealing with this business… Read Full Review

I ordered US Dollars online taking advantage of the 'collect after 4 hrs thing' they've got on their website. Oh what a terrible mistake I made. At the end of the application I understood there was a problem , and the transaction was unsuccessful. So I opted to pay on collection at Heathrow T4. When I got there the money was ready, so I used my debit to pay. I was shocked when it got declined. Panicking, as I was just 2hrs from boarding the plane, I called the Bank. The bank gave me an… Read Full Review

Pre-ordered Saudi currency on line a few days before picking up at Heathrow T4. Used a Visa debit card to avoid fees. Good rate (would have been 10% worse doing the deal on the day at T4 so beware!). They kindly broke the two 500 SAR notes into 100s. Travelex worked out well for me!… Read Full Review

I ordered some currency from Travelex because their website gave me the option to collect it from one of their outlets the next day. At about 8.30 pm, some six hours after ordering online, I received a call from Travelex. Apparently, my currency would only be available for collection after 48 hours despite what their website said!!!! I would not have ordered it from them if I had known this. They refunded me, but I could have ordered it elsewhere and had it delivered tomorrow. I am not… Read Full Review

I am a frequent traveler and normally get my currency in plenty of time ahead of travel. This time I didn't and so purchased my money in Amsterdam Airport, using Travelex as I recognised the name. As I was going to Norway and it would be my last visit there I paid extra for the zero commission so I could exchange any spare money when I flew back. Problems with flights meant I had no time in Amsterdam between connections, but again I was not worried as there is a Travelex branch in my local… Read Full Review

WARNING: DO NOT USE TRAVELEX! I'm a frequent traveller and was told I should try Travelex. God what a mistake! They said there was a problem with my payment and it didn't go through, but in fact they took the payment 'ringfenced'. I called the card company who gave me the authorisation code. So Travelex effectively locked me out of my account money and it won't show up until after I have left the UK. I eventually got to the bottom of the issue and it was Travelex NOT the card company as… Read Full Review

Please try and find specific delivery information on their site. No luck? I even get this type of information buying second hand gear off ebay...but not Travelex. Do you want to know why? They do not give a hoot about the customers. Try ringing them and you will know exactly what I mean. Their delivery terms are ambiguous. So you start to make assumptions what "next day" might mean. Is it 6am - 10pm? Is it 8:30am - 5:30pm? You get where this is going...If you know this definition, then you can… Read Full Review

After I had registered a dealer kept calling me, so I arranged to send some Thai Baht to Laos but when it had not been received after 1 week I contacted them and they said I would have to wait 3-4 days whilst they traced the money. After 2 days they informed me that it was their mistake and they could not send Baht to Laos even though Barclays can and I would have to wait for a refund from their intermediate bank, 1 week later and I am still waiting.Pay the extra and go with Barclays… Read Full Review

I ordered some travel money on Wednesday and picked Saturday to have it delivered. I had a phone message on Friday to say they wanted to speak to me about my order but when I tried to call back after work I learn't they had already closed and then no currency turned up on Saturday. I have since emailed them to cancel my order and hopfully the money I have paid will be returned to my account. I have bought currency online through other companies with no problems at all but would never use or… Read Full Review

We got a travelex cash passport for our trip to Australia. The best way for us to do it was buy it online (cheapest) and collect in store meaning a trip into London (no deliveries over a certain amount). This was a small price to pay as we had NO problems at all collecting the card, using the card and cancelling the card when we got home. All of the other cards had a worse exchange rate, a fee to get the card in the first place and would have charged per withdrawal. Our card had none of these… Read Full Review

I contacted Travelex TWICE about setting up a trade account. I ship containers in from China and therefore spend a LOT of money on foreign currency. Both times they ignored my email. Oh well, I have gone with TorFX now and they are brilliant… Read Full Review

I ordered Turkish Lira on the Monday needing it to be delivered free of charge on Wednesday. On the Wednesday morning my usual postman called round with the parcel to be signed for. What more can you ask for - excellent service!! In the past I have relied on the Post office - not any more. I shopped around and found Travelex gave the best rates and service I could find. Well done!!!… Read Full Review

I don't understand how people can have such a bad experience. Its simple its a prepaid card and worked absolutely fine! Majority of people who leave reviews is because they have had a bad experience so I thought i would share my good experience.
I took this card to New York with pretty much all our spending money, the card worked fine was the best way as we did not want to carry £2000 of cash. I went for a week, however if you were going for longer I would get the duplicate card they offer as… Read Full Review

The best way to get holiday cash is to order it in advance online at Travelex.co.uk. Usually the best rate online and a very convenient collection service at most airports (but not Luton). Using a debit card avoids card fees.
I have used this service for a few years and never been disappointed.
Don't leave it to the airport to buy your cash as you will be stung by awful rates and commission (even at a Travelex store)… Read Full Review

Complete dissapointment. Crappy customer service.
Ordered some foreign currency via Tesco Travel Money which is operated by Travelex on Fri, they promised delivery on Sat by 1pm or latest next Mon by 1 pm GUARANTEED!
As probably usually for them, the money did not arrived on Mon, even on Tue and Wed. I spent endless hours arguing with their customer services, who could not help me at all, all they were saying is that we are looking into this case, and as I am not flying till Thursday they need… Read Full Review

A total rip-off.
I went to them to get a prepaid travel Visa for an extended trip to Morocco. I clearly asked for that. They told me it would take a day to receive. I thought it was strange, but went along with it. When I went to pick it up, instead of a Visa card, I had Moroccan Dirhams. Thousands of dollars in dirhams. And at a very poor exchange rate. They stated I had a great exchange rate and no fees because of such a large dollar amount but their exchange rate ended up costing me… Read Full Review
