I had a 180 day notice account with these guys, which you'd think I would get a decent interest rate on given I needed to set notice, but no they'd cut the rate to 0%. Imagine what they pay on an instant access account...0.5% ... how does that work, 0% is just an insult. Even their best rates are low and it just isn't right offering 0%. Stay away. (read more)

“I have been with abbey for years but the service...”

I have been with abbey for years but the service seemed to get worse. Staff are rude, unhelpful and treats everyone like a criminal. Unless you request to close your account they don't want to know you eventhough the personal banking service for Offshore customers are supposed to be on a more "personal level"

I have never come across such rude staff and I bank in various countries and have accounts with many different banks. Best to avoid this at all rate! (read more)

I have been with Abbey International and its predecessors (Abbey National Offshore and Cater Allen since for more than a decade. The service has become ever more impersonal and unhelpful and, since the take over by Santander has become utterly impersonal, inefficient, rude and unfriendly. The online service has extended intermittent faults - for example for six months it was not possible to see detailed transactions. (read more)
