“Very inflexible security and very poor customer service”

I wish we had never used this bank. We recently had a bond mature with them which they closed on due date and transferred money to my main ICICI account. On trying to access balance information on the account I found that my password had lapsed and that despite speaking to them and trying t to verify my details on line, I couldn't reset my password. “60 hours of stress”

I ordered currency on Thursday for delivery on Saturday, paying extra for the service. When, by 3pm on Saturday, the delivery had not arrived I called the helpline. "Saturday and Sunday are holidays and we can't deliver" "I'll report your problem and somebody will call you within two working days" "your delivery will be with by the end of the day". “Stolen my money”

I was trying to order some foreign currency yesterday (18/05/13) and found the rates to be very competitive on ICICI's website. I went ahead to place my order (over £1000 of ISK & EUR) and got to the payment screen where I entered my payment details. I then submitted the payment and received an error message saying that the order couldn't be placed at this time. I was made promises of call backs which never came and given instructions that made no sense. Stupidly I kept ringing in hope of speaking to somebody with half a brain cell. I eventually rang a branch in the Uk but there were equally as unhelpful and gave me the number to India again. I have rang ICICI bank 12 times in total and still do not know where my money is. Terrible bank and awful customer service with little intention of helping the customer.

I am currently experiencing the same situation.
I ordered currency on Thursday for my wedding abroad, I received the same error message, the money is showing as pending on my account & have had exactly the same experiences & nonsense from ICICI whenever I have called regarding this, I've had the same conversation with my UK bank & all ICICI call centre workers & supervisors are being unhelpful when requested that they send my bank a fax stating that there is no order pending.
I just get scripted answers & if I ask them a question with an answer that isn't on their script, they just go silent & then refere me back to my UK bank.
I have been told I need to wait until the following Friday after my order to see if they actually debit my account of not.
If I don't have any money in time for my wedding, it'll be ruined!
Has anyone had their money back yet that can advise me of timescales please?

My money went back in exactly a week after it had been marked. Apparantly this is the standard length of time for all UK banks. Hope you manage to get sorted, and congratulations!

The same thing happened to me yesterday whilst trying to purchase some foreign currency. I've had over £1000 frozen on my bank account by ICICI without having actually made an order for the money because there was an "error with the website". So now I have no foreign currency and am down £1000 and so unable to purchase any foreign currency from another provider! Spent 2 hours on the phone to a very unhelpful customer service advisor and then her supervisor who was also hugely unhelpful to try and recoup my money. I was told that they won't actually be taking the money as no order was made, however it won't show back as available in my account for a week; I travel next week!? Absolutely disgraceful.

My bank were able to provide me with a transaction number and transaction time, which I was able to confirm with ICICI on the phone. They are aware that they've put a hold on my funds but have assured me they won't actually take it and it will be available to me within the next week?! I wonder how many other people had the same issue yesterday. Although it's a massive inconvenience I'm glad to hear that it didn't just happen to me and my money.

Are the employeee of ICICI bank are human or not. The BOM and Managar keep their employee make them work from 9 am to 8 pm. Are they going to pay for that, dont they have any family. “Useless and unusable”

This bank has to be the least user friendly bank in existance. I have never been able to log on using the website due to the overly complicated log in system. I have always had to phone them which I am now told will cost me £2.00 per call. My money has only stayed in my account because I just cannot be bothered to access it via the website. I had a savings account with ICICI, when the lockup expired it was increadibly hard work getting the money back. I don't think any conversations I had with the call centre lasted less than twenty minutes. Interest rate was ok but not nearly enough to compensate for the extra work. (read more)

Savings account taken out confusing emails received made me not trust them. So cancelled account. Various emails and telephone calls had great difficulty getting anyone to understand me as was told I couldn't cancel until I was given a tracking number. Talking of ease of using internet to manage your bank account, ICICI is a pain in a b... If you forget your 10 different passwords to get one transaction done. Be ready to spend half day to resolve and dig all files to keep your debit cards handy , considering that I live in USA and need my India debit only once in two years, is a real pain.. I found today that ICICI had blocked my credit card which I was using for many years and paying the dues promptly every month. Last month the dues was a minor amount of Rs 300/- due to which I had forgotten to pay. When I tried to purchase a geyser from a retail shop , I was surprised to find the card declined. “cash transactions are charged .......”

If I use my credit card....the most convenient way for me is to make cash payment as the branch is close to my house.....for payment they keep on calling cash is the fastest way to settle their dues ....cheque takes 2-3 days....but like fool they ghare 110/- Rs charges to make cash payment dumb bank.....I have to make the same payment in my account then give a cheque for cc payment double job.... This is actually RBI regulations which ask bank to charge money in case of cash deposit for credit card payment...Its not just the case with ICICI Bank even HDFC and AXIS bank charges for the same ....You can transfer via their ATM or internet banking which is faster and non chargeable

“Slower then Government bank”

Believe me.. this is the slowest bank I have ever seen. Cant compare with even nationalized governemnt bank like Dena bank. They do not provide any response or support as HDFC. Nothing is straight forward on the site. You need to jump through 5 loops of various sizes and orientations to get the simplest thing done. Many basic features are missing while some others are hidden in most unintuitive locations. Lately I have been getting many calls from my "relationship manager". We tried to close our Demat account with ICICI Bank in 2009. They sent us a letter saying that the account was closed. It has been a nightmare experience for the last three years. Their customer care is rubbish, they take you through a 10 minute security check on phone, only to tell you that their systems are undergoing unscheduled maintenance and I should call them later. This bank has no idea how to develop or implement any user-friendly processes. They seem to have forgotten that it is customers' money that makes their bank tick, and make it impossible for customers to access their own money. I've had many frustrating phone calls where procedures are quoted which do not make any intuitive sense. I would NEVER want to put a friend or foe through this level of irritation, and so will not recommend this bank to anyone. (read more)

Do not use this bank for current baccounts or savings. They are not to be trusted to pay the correct interest.

ICICI is the worst bank we have in India. Extremely poor customer service. They have got large customer base so they don't bother if one or two customers leave them. Anyways I'm going to close my account in ICICI due to bad service.

The Money to india website is too unorganized. Even the letter are not framed in one line. Very often, it automatically does a sign out if i try clicking on any of the option.

It is not just that i was on the website for quite a long - but this signout appears in no second. It irritates. their websites are too bad.

I found this review very helpful because i too wish that there was negative rating for this bank. Icici does not deserve any rating at all.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER CARE ... STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN

Gone are the times when only few banks in India were computerized . I think SBI and other nationalized banks are much better with lower fees than this stupid bank called ICICI ...

Arrogant customer care
Illiterate technical team
Horrible security
