“Happy”

Written on: 08/05/2013 by Scully12 (1 review written)

I visited the store at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol to find out about the Big Shot Machine. The first assistant showed me and told me what she knew, then got another assistant who could demonstrate it for me. I was very pleased with both assistants and their help, the demonstration was done very well and impressed me, hense I have put the Big Shot on my birthday list. I have always found the staff very helpful. (read more)

“Quite a good online service”

Written on: 16/04/2013 by tonnie2223

I've only used HobbyCraft the once to buy an sewing machine. The machine is average, I'm happy with it because it was half price but not all functions are 100% and had I paid full price I would be unhappy. Anyway, I bought it friday afternoon and it arrived well packaged on tuesday morning however what has annoyed me is that the man just left it outside my front door, never even knocked or rang the doorbell. We have a garage side door left unlocked for parcels if we are out, but I was in... (read more)

“Tamworth Hobbycraft, since the refit is amazing! Great...”

Written on: 06/04/2013 by hazeparker

I've liked this shop for years but since last April's refit, I now love it. They've encouraged me to demonstrate Patchwork, Quilting and Appliqué and even let me use their purpose built Craft Room for free, so I can pass my knowledge and live of textile crafting onto others. Each month they have evening groups who meet for free for all kinds of crafting. Well Done Simon Birch and all the staff at Hobbycraft Tamworth you're all doing a grand job , extra suggestion is it possible to have a... (read more)

“I Disagree”

Written on: 17/03/2013 by PAULMCCLELLAND

After reading all the reviews on here I am shocked to say the least. Preston is my nearest store and I visit approximately once a month and i LOVE the place. It has a good feel as soon as I walk in. The staff are great and I always feel comfortable chatting to them about models and paint etc. On my last visit one young girl with brown hair was great she spent a while with me and seemed genuinely interested. The parking is great last time i was outside the door! The only thing I could say... (read more)

“The lady was soo rude (Ally)”

Written on: 27/01/2013 by Akhan2013

I went to basingstoke hobby craft several times and this one lady is so rude and unhelpful, when I had asked for help she had said rudely that to wait and went off with her colleague a young lad laughing and talking about life outside of work, I thought this was the most rude and unprofessional again I had asked her for help on a product and she had suddenly swore at me I had looked at her name badge and her name is Ally I would recommend any one going to basingstoke hobby craft to stay... “horrible”

Written on: 07/12/2012 by Mr_JR (1 review written)

With Hobbycraft in Preston, I have so many bad experiences that this was now my last try today. Not only that the products are in bad condition, damaged packing and so on, the stuff is unfriendly, know nothing about their shop and products and some even smell horrible. Only some experiences I made: One year ago I bought a daylight lamp. It lasted only some month, then I had to fix it with wires, after one year it was finally unrepairable and I bought another lamp. When I got home with it... (read more)

You could have just returned the faulty products to the store... I'm sure they would have been horrified and refunded or replaced these items if they'd known. You also could have easily contacted their Customer Services on 01202 596100. - No need to self-fix or throw the products away!

“Waste of Tiome”

Written on: 04/12/2012

Went into HC for my usual odds and ends, greeted with a pile of cup cake machines, popcorn makers, pop cake makers, sewing machines thought I had walked into Argos not a craft shop, so tacky. The shop had been revamped but not for the better, lighter yes but stock well all I can say half of it was not craft related, mixing bowls etc. Yes cake making is a hobby but Lakeland do a far better selection and cheaper. The whole store was grossly overpriced, bag of toy filling gone up from £3.25... (read more)

“Don't use Hobbycraft”

Written on: 15/11/2012

I have been trying to do 75 invitations. I went to Hobbycraft in Croydon who stocked 50 invitation cards. I asked the shop keepers if they had more in the back they said no without even checking. They said they wouldn't order it in, I would have to phone their Gloucester branch, but when I spoke to their Gloucester branch they told me to contact the Croydon branch. Everytime I call I sit on hold for ages until it's answered. i then also ran out of the ribbon I needed, I phoned every person... (read more)

“They Don't Answer Their Contact Form”

Written on: 18/10/2012 by Montecarlolou

And the postage and packing isn't always proportionate. Two balls of wool at £3.18 shouldn't cost £3.95 to post! Why do they not have a deliver to store option?? I like them on the whole, but my goodness when they ran out of the wool I had bought only a month earlier I got fobbed off time and time again with the newer (WRONG) value wool! Different wool, as well as colour. I wasted a lot of fuel and time going to my West End store. I emailed through their contact form, twice, and not... (read more)

“TERRIBLE customer service”

Written on: 25/02/2012 by albino3001 (1 review written)

Missing parts in my item purchased. Luckily noticed one as I got back to my car. In store assistants were unhelpful when I returned but I did get the part. Stupidly I thought there couldn't possibly be MORE wrong with the item. On opening the box at home, noticed other bits missing. 4 MONTHS(!!) of trying to get the part and I just gave up and binned the item. Customer services were initially apologetic and said it would be sorted and sent out to me but nothing. Will not be shopping here... (read more)

Written on: 05/02/2011 by ilikesilver (1 review written)

I have been to hobbycraft many times before. I recomend this superstore for arts and crafts.

Hobbycraft have provided my family many quality art equipment and we are satisfied most of the time. When I purchased some drawing equipment 3 months ago, the pencils were durable and great, and they are still in my pencil pot today.

However, the items I purchased were quite over priced and, I remember buying a pack of 12 derwent academy pencils, which costed £12! Even a pod of skin toned-pencils... (read more)

“HobbyCraft is not a craft shop in the real sense....”

Written on: 02/12/2010

HobbyCraft is not a craft shop in the real sense. Traditional craft shops sell materials, which one can use to create from scratch. HobbyCraft sells prefabricated items, which takes very little on your part, both in terms of skills and imagination, to assemble together. It is good for very young children, but that's it really. Of course there is yarn and the like for knitting, but you can find those same items 2-3 times cheaper elsewhere. All prices are ridiculousely extortionate. I call it... (read more)

Written on: 24/08/2010

I have not visited the shop but bought on line. Got an e-mail from the courier with the wrong address on so I rang customer services - very unprofessional. The first guy picked up the phone and just said "hello". When I asked if I was speaking to Hobby Craft he said "I was just walking past the phone so I though I might as well pick it up". Then some shouting and someone else came on "hello". Again I asked if it was Hobbycraft - more shouting and then another person came on and told me... (read more)

“Hobbycraft is an excellent source of craft materials....”

Written on: 23/10/2009

Hobbycraft is an excellent source of craft materials. I have just made my own wedding stationary and had very little craft experience and even fewer ideas! The staff at my local store at Teesside Park have a fantastic knowledge of all the crats they sell and if they think there is someone with a better knowledge they will always give them a shout. The only downside is that they didn't sell the ribbon I needed by the role and I had to buy it by the metre which worked out quite expensive. I... (read more)

The service is rubbish (staff don't know anything about anything) - lost count of the times I've shown them something they didn't realise they stocked - the layout is confusing if you haven't been there before and spent time getting to know it - they can be expensive as well...BUT for goodness sakes, where else can you go to get craft supplies for anything and everything under one roof and NOT pay the absolute earth! Written on: 10/05/2009 by wendylou (7 reviews written)

Although Hobbycraft is great to look around I do find it on the expensive side. I would also say that it tries to cater for too many crafts so you end up with little choice in any one department. I was disappointed by it and think that it is more suited to those looking for a new hobby than for anyone serious about the one they already have. (read more)

“Hobbycraft is great! Selling everything for hobbies...”

Written on: 24/04/2006 by Lou (35 reviews written)

Hobbycraft is great! Selling everything for hobbies from sewing to painting to modelling to gift sets. I've shopped in Hobbycraft on occasions over the last few years for many things I've had an interest in. The small bottle paint range is good and reasonably priced, I have also bought various gits for my childern to make candles, soap bars etc. Hobycraft used to run craft afternoons (not sure if they still do) where you or the kids can go and have a go at a particular craft for a fee.
