Appalling customer services tried to replace a faulty folding scooter after 10 days due to a faulty washer to be accused of not tightening bolts and that my five year old son has been ' 'grinding'. Not only does he not understand the concept he is incapable of doing it. Basically these are just pathetic excuses to absolve themselves of any responsibility to the customer who bought things in good faith from them, don't make that same mistake! caveat emptor! This company (if you can call it that) is an absolute joke. My daughter saved her birthday money for a pair of skates from this website. They cost £60.00. One of the leather boots tore after 8 months of very little use. I contacted Kates Skates who advised that the manufacturers guarantee only lasts for 90 days and they had the cheek to recommend that I purchased another pair of boots!! Bought two pairs of skates in March and June 2012, needed to order replacement brakes, called and emailed over a two month period and keep getting fobbed off. Need new wheels and got little help or advice to the point I went elsewhere and was sorted out immediately.. They seem happy to sell skates but not willing to help or offer any sort of backup. I orderered a Skateboard undercarriage kit at £40. it took them over a week after taking my money to dispatch the order. what arrived was a pair of trucks (£18 on the website) and not the full kit, the envelope was too small to hold anything but the trucks and was still sealed so the additional componants could not have been lost in the post. We ordered important presents for shipment to Australia 25th November, and went for them after phoning a very charming chap - he is full of can do, sadly he is "no can do". Answers the phone, says will call you back, doesnt repeat the cycle, again and again. The couriers say they delivered the item and I signed for it but I can prove I didnt as I was in work at the time. I have had to contact the police, as I believe I was conned by this company and also have had to try to claim my money back through paypal. They acknowledged my order took my money and sent me an email the following day, saying they had made a mistake and were cancelling my order because they had made a mistake with the price.

ordered via amazon and they arrived on time. but the skates were unusable (see my amazon review for roller derby viper) kateskates said the because i had tried them then they were used and would not give a full refund!! They also said if i wanted to return them i would have to send them back to their supplier and not back to them!
After a few sarcastic and condescending emails off them i got amazon involved and then kateskates agreed to give a refund if i sent them back.

Unfortunately this is a completely inaccurate account of what happened. The customer contacted us claiming the skates were faulty, basically because they had fallen over whilst using them. Once skates have been used, they are returnable only if there is a fault - and in order to determine this, the fault needs to be assessed by the suppliers and dealt with as a warranty issue. Obviously this means the skates must be sent directly to the suppliers in order for them to assess the situation without causing further delay to the customer.

<br/>After having checked the skates and confirmed that they were NOT faulty, the suppliers advised us to return the skates to the customer. Clearly this is not what they wanted, and after an Amazon A-Z claim was submitted we did agree to partially refund the skates, which was more than they were entitled to, bearing in mind that they were not faulty.
<br/>
<br/>We do have returns departments with our suppliers, as this enables us to minimise delays to the customer caused by having items returned to us, and then having to wait for them to be forwarded on to the supplier. However, our returns department for standard returns is based in house, and we are happy to refund any unwanted item provided it is in a new and unused condition. We are also committed to processing refunds in a timely manner, and if there is a genuine fault with an item we are happy to refund or replace the item.

Inevitably, like any retailer, we do occasionally have items go out of stock, and in this situation we do our best to contact customers as promptly as possible.

<br/>However, having taken the additional payment details for the difference in cost, the customer's payment was declined, obviously delaying dispatch of the item further. Rather than resolving this situation, an Amazon A-Z claim was raised. Once an Amazon A-Z claim is filed, we are not permitted, by Amazon, to dispatch the item, hence the customer not receiving his order. The original payment was refunded in full, and the additional payment had never been taken in the first place.

Applied four times via email for a returns number, never received a reply. I finally got one after making a phone call to them directly and being told my four emails were never recieved! Posted my goods back to them that day, and now, over a month later NO REFUND! I contacted them to see what was going on and they claimed my returned goods never arrived back with them.
AVOID!!!! These rob dogs! Customer service is atrocious and their avoidance rivals...

Customer service is rubbish - shoes ordered for my son, website says takes UPTO 5 days, 6th day comes and I email them, I am told that they take 5 to 7 days to arrive (and told to read the product description! cheeky sods! wouldn't mind but the product description says UPTO 5 days NOT 5 to 7 days).
They still didn't confirm if they would arrive by the 7th day, this is my second order with them and it will be my last (the first was cancelled after 2 days because they couldn't get the stock)

Really dissapointed with the kates skates site. Ordered four working days ago. Just called up and the woman says they had to order from their supplier. They have a misleading site. Why would I order if I knew it was going to take over a week to arrive?
Here's how the phone call went down:
ME: I placed an order last week
(woman takes a good few minutes to find me in the system)
WOMAN: We had to place an order with our supplier and we're still waiting for the delivery from them.That item does...

I ordered a pair of skates for my birthday which were supposed to be in stock i waited over a week before my birthday no skates arrived i emailed Kates skates but received no reply. A week past my birthday after loads of emails and receiving no replies i rang them up, the assistant who answered the phone seemed very patronising to me and did not apologise for what had happened he went on to say i would receive them in over a months time and you won't be able to get the skates anywhere else...
