It's a great printer for everything, from simple school texts, to photographs in glossy paper. I bought this brand new about six years ago, and aftear a warranty fix, it was until today (Dec, 2012) that it presented a problem. Maybe it will end up at the service center. It's a great printer for its value. (read more)

Printer suddenly stopped working, hp says its a mechanical problem, and they will not repair, but they would give a 100$ discount on a new printer. What a waste, 400$ for printer (2 years ago) plus 240$ worth of new cartridges! (read more)

Overall, I thought the HP Color Laserjet 2550L printer was really good until the ink ran out. Being unable to print because one colour has run out is daft, and I was very unimpressed when it broke after 13 months of home use.
I've loads of HP products, and this is the only one that has let me down.

The HP Color Laserjet 2550L a good first time printer of you are dipping your toe into laser-land, but don't try and do large runs of high quality stuff as you may be in for a VERY long wait...one 3.6mb file took SIXTEEN MINUTES to spool to the printer and even THEN it came up with an error....which, by the way, it handily prints ON the paper you are using rather than showing an error message via LEDS, which means you have lost yet another piece of your very pricey Glossy photo paper! Yes, I am TOTALLY annoyed about the toners. What company would invent a printer that you can't use if the yellow runs out and you don;t want to print in colour. Oh yes, HP!
