“Rubbish Service”

Written on: 26/07/2014 by Edwards472 (1 review written)

Furniture Village couldn't be any more disappointing. I ordered a wardrobe in June and was told 6 weeks for delivery. In the 7th week after hearing nothing I contacted them and they said they will get back to me. 3days later they call to say that it will be another 2weeks. So I took a day off work on the delivery day, the delivery arrives nice and early but the wrong parts have been supplied. The workmen then tell me it will take another 3weeks for the correct parts to arrive! I called the… Read Full Review

“Terrible!!!!”

Written on: 18/07/2014 by superpaps (2 reviews written)

Ordered a corner sofa (which comes in 3 sections). Waited for 10 weeks; when it arrived 2 pieces were in cream but 1 was in 'purple'....Was promised that within 4 weeks the supplier would rectify and manufacture the missing cream section. On the fourth week...no communication... no sofa...after cancelling the order. Received written communication that they found the missing piece in some other warehouse.... beyond belief... This is what we call "adding insult to injury"!… Read Full Review

“Much better deal when you buy online - Be Aware”

Written on: 10/07/2014 by thameside12 (1 review written)

Please be aware before you purchase from Furniture Village in general and from in store in particular. If you buy in store you have to pay 30% deposit and if you have to cancel for any reason from about 2/3 after ordering you will lose your deposit. Fair enough you might say, but if you buy the very same items from them on line, you can cancel at anytime before it is delivered and up to a week after delivery and still get a full refund of any money paid. So please go to the store and browse… Read Full Review

“So far .... So good!”

Written on: 24/06/2014 by MichelleGilder (1 review written)

I have just ordered a sofa after seeing it in the store, with excellent help from Bash in High Wycombe both in store and by phone, and looking through these reviews. My main reason for overlooking most of the rants on these reviews is simply, look at the PRICE!! I have paid around £1400 for a stunning sofa, in faux leather which I hope will last. Maybe it won't, but if you want top quality you should expect to pay top price. You get what you pay for. I hesitated before reading the reviews… Read Full Review

I think you will more than likely want to change those 5 stars if it develops a fault.

You will be advised its normal wear and tear, or settlement. Whatever the issue there won't be a fault on Furniture Village's part. Good luck - you will need it if you need to make a claim.

“Zero Customer Service”

Written on: 24/06/2014 by Kian123 (1 review written)

I bought two leather sofas from them 4 yrs ago. The colour is literally wiping off with a damp cloth, particularly on the smaller sofa which is rarely used. This has been going on now for over a year. They dont want to know. They say "we dont believe theres a problem" when asked how they can say that without looking at the sofas they say "we dont have to, after six months the onus is on you" So what do they expect me to do, carry it back to the showroom? This company is appalling dont… Read Full Review

Hi, Can I ask what suite you have? We have the dante and are having the same problem with ours that the colour is literally coming off. Technition told us that they have not been "finished" correctly with a top protective layer and this is why it is happening. Surprise surprise 3 weeks since fv are avoiding me as are apparently "investigating possible pet damage". This is rubiish, we have had our dog from puppy for 11 months and this issue/debate has gone on for 3 years. Feel like they are hiding something, absolute bad company. I will not be letting this lie. Would never recommend this company, in fact I would slate them at every possible!!!

Hi

I have had the same problem. FV have said they would get an independent technician but it would cost me £60. Don't want to use one recommended by them. Where did you get your technician from. I am certainly not letting this lie and intend to take legal action if necessary.

Yes don't hesitate, please avoid Furniture Village at all costs. I know you think it won't happen to you, but it will be you and it will drive you insane as they will not want to help you. Sorry you had to go through this.

You might wish to try John Lewis online? They are open to discussion about the quality of products and you can return many items to them that are not classed as specially made if you are not satisfied. I don't work for John Lewis but feel they are a listening company and if you approach them beforehand to make certain of your online rights on any given product, they will honour it. Best of all they give you a refund of any price drop difference within a certain period.

“What a mess do not order from these people ”

Written on: 17/06/2014 by Ryleee1978 (1 review written)

These people are confused. Sold me leather sofa that is not leather. Now two years on they won't replace it because the leather is not covered by the five year guarantee.... Really. Then they said I was getting aggressive and didn't want to talk. I'm speaking with my wallet, won't be spending any money there again. Aftercare is useless and a waste of my time… Read Full Review

Couldn't agree more Aftercare is a joke! Writing from my recent experience dealing with them as a customer:

Technical reports are engineered not to find faults.

They don't supply copies of technician reports when you have a fault. Everything comes back as settlement and is not covered.

In the rare case in which they offer an alternative product they will offer something totally unsuitable. That way when you refuse the interest free credit company send you emails to say you are not co-operating.

They are dishonest in telephone calls and in person. They will say anything to get you into the showroom again when you have a problem. They want you to get angry and walkout so you won't have a leg to stand on.

They insist you use someone recommended by them for a 2nd report on furniture and you get their permission first they will accept the report. Trading Standards say this is not the case and you can use any independent furniture inspector.

They can't supply you with a copy of their Customer Service policy.

To top it all off they leave messages on here like they care that something has gone wrong. They don't care - its a sham and deception.

I will never visit another store unless I have someone with me.

“Awful really awful”

Written on: 21/05/2014 by Mgfhancock (1 review written)

Purchased 2 sofas 4 years ago. 3 years on the springs and fixings failed. These are low use sofas in main lounge, we spend our time in the children's room so they rarely got used. Have had them repaired in 4 occasions. Fail again each time within a matter of weeks. The most recent repair was infact a report instead saying that it was down to wear and tear and nothing' will be done now. Blimey wear and tear after little use over 3-4 years. Awful awful truly awful. It's my mission to make sure… Read Full Review

Store - Abingdon Store Having purchased a 4 and a 2 seater Ridley I found the sales team and delivery a very good and prompt service. However I am disappointed with the after service. The 2 seater was not sat on for the first 4 days after delivery until a saturday but when it was it was we noticed a considerable difference in firmness to the 4 seater which had and has been used daily so I visited the shop and spoke to a salesman the next day [within the the first 7 days] where I was adviced to… Read Full Review

“Don't believe what they tell you!!”

Written on: 28/02/2014 by Elian23 (1 review written)

Purchased Ronson electric compact recliner sofa and 2 chairs. FV recommended their furniture care pack. When getting a pen mark on the sofa, I went for the ink remover, only to find it is not suitable for my leather! Having only ever cleaned the suite with a dampened cloth, I decided to use the leather cleaner from the kit. As soon as the liquid was applied to the leather, it stripped the top coat of leather. FV sent upholsterer who said it looks like wear and tear! The sofa is 18 months… Read Full Review

“Waste of money and time ”

Written on: 06/02/2014

I used Furniture village in January 2011 to purchase a Kensington TV bed, it turned out to be a big mistake. The quality of the bed and the so called customer service has been appalling. From the start the TV mechanism would not work correctly, it was incredibly noisy and It shook the whole bed when the TV went up and down. If that was not bad enough it would activate on its own throughout the day and night. The remote control would not operate the unit. I contacted the store and the customer… Read Full Review

Couldn't agree more shop around and give Furniture Village a miss.

Quote from delivery man when asked to put protectors on their feet: "I'm not (insert swear word here) about."

Complete joke, they damage your paint work and they don't care if your carpet is black after they are finished.

They don't care because sales don't care and because head office don't care as long as they keep taking your money then why should they?

They treat customers with contempt and our reward in a few years time will be them shutting up shop and restarting as a new concern. "Yes we are aware of the previous companies reputation. I can assure you we do not operate like that now and have high standards of customer service". Yeah right!

Written on: 10/01/2014 by lachapparelrefund (1 review written)

I bought a corner sofa from furniture village in the Croydon Store on 10/1/14. Before buying the sofa on a free interest rate for 36 months. I asked the sales man if he could throw in a free scotch guard which was £156. He said he will speak to the manager which he did and told me the manager has agreed to the free scotch guard cover if I was to purchase the sofa the very day. I was delighted and agreed to pay a deposit of £300 pounds and did all the signing of the paper work. The delivery… Read Full Review
