WHAT CAN I SAY.....LOTS, AND IT'S ALL BAD. MY MORTGAGES INSURANCE CLAIM HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. ALL INFORMATION FOR THE LAST 3-MONTH CLAIM HAS BEEN SENT FOUR TIMES NOW AND SIX MONTHS ON, STILL NO PAYMENT. A PHONE CALL TO THEM EXPLAINED THAT NO PAYMENT COULD BE MADE UNTIL I SIGN THEIR LETTER, WHICH APPARENTLY HAD BEEN SENT IN THE POST 1ST CLASS TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO MY CALL. A FIRST CLASS LETTER DOES NOT TAKE THIS LONG, BUT AMAZINGLY, IT ARRIVED TWO DAYS AFTER MY CALL. ALL INFORMATION WAS SENT... (read more)

,totally agree with you, made as hard as possible to make a claim, i have paid in since 2002 and was made redundant in november 2012. The service is appalling, hoop after hoop has to be jumped through, constantly faxing more paperwork to prove unemployment, jsa has just ended so now expected to provide evidence of jobsearch, rejection letters, applications, cover letters, 3 each month, harder than you think as most companys do not respond to job applicants. Have never had the full 30 days amount that i should get, last payment was for 25 days, not enough to cover mortgage and insurance payment. Phone to get explanation, waste of time, staff mainly rude and indifferent, seem to try to make it as stressful as possible, letters take 2 weeks to get to you, text message service that they say they provide is non exsistent. Anyone thinking that because they are with a reputable company are in for a shock when they try to claim on this insurance, halifax banks where the staff are friendly and helpful and the insurance part based in ireland are totally different, unfortunately you do not know how bad it is till you make a claim. I intend to take my mortgage, bank account and insurance away from halifax as soon as my situation improves.

It's easy to blame yourself as you are feeling low but I documented and sent Halifax everything. They provide a terrible service. You have to remember they have your money. If I had just put the money in a jar I would be better off. The pack they send you is riddled with errors. They tell me they will only pay out 75% of any cover level. We payed in extra to cover the bills but they tell us they will not honor that unless you are made redundant as husband and wife. Hoop after hoop.... (read more)

I think in some situations it is easier to blame someone else. Always make copies of documents. Get a folder to keep bank statements etc. This is the 2nd time we have made a claim, partner is in building trade so we've always had to pay for protection. We did have problems with claim dates as the jobcentre got it wrong but that was not Halifax to blame. If you provide all the right documents and declarations will have no problems. If company goes into liquidation its for the administrators... (read more)

In 2007 was made redundant but "hey" I had a Halifax total protection Insurance which I had paid into for 15 years, I was informed should I be made redundant the mortgage would be paid for a year! What a joke! They wanted copies of every job applied for, cover letters, records of phone calls for jobs, job seekers information and this has to be sent off every month to claim on the insurance. I was told I had to apply for at least 6 jobs a week and provide evidence or they would not pay... (read more)

Made redundant and these people have made it worse - lost documents that were faxed from their branch didn't bother to tell me they had lost them but waited for me to ring and ask why I had not heard anything, accused me of not signing it - funny I had the originals which were faxed so that was a lie, had to speak to a manager to get them to accept a copy of giro and letter as the Jobcentre weren't paying into my account, they are obstructive and unhelpful, it's not even as though they are... Under no circumstances use these people unless of course you have no choice.
As stated in previous reviews no email or telephone advice of progress. Letters take days to arrive and the staff are uncoperative. I recently had the misfortune of being made redundant and these people are adding to my stress levels. The company cannot be further away from Barclaycard who processed the claim swiftly and efficiently.
Mere words cannot express my extreme dissatisfaction with this company and would...

Poor documentation, inconsistent service, no 24 hour text notification (although stated both wihtin auto telephone responses and on some documentation), letters sent fom Ireland handled by UK postal service as 2nd class - sometimes take up to 10 - 15 days to be delivered, (assuming they have been posted at all or on the dates advised). No system to use email, no system to enable return fax calls. Basically a semi-usless out of date operation with call handlers who seem disinterested,... (read more)

Absolutely shocking! This should really be called PMP rather than TMP as it's partial, not total protection... I am in a terrible state with my mortgage and being continually chased by Halifax here in England over my arrears. Halifax Insurance IRELAND Ltd cannot guarantee to make the full payment or when to make it so I cannot setup an arrangement. What's more, neither Halifax Insurance Ireland Ltd or Halifax Bank talk to each other!
They are unhelpful to say the least and I would not...

Halifax Total Mortgage Protection? What a joke!
In June 2008 I was diagnosed with a disability i.e.both Dyslexia and Meares Irlen Syndrome and tried to make a claim onmy Total Mortgage Protection Policy.Initially I was informed by a telephone Adviser at the Halifax TMP department "The good news is that there is no bad news. You are completely covered". 2 years on I have been to hell and back, having failed my CEFA exams owing to my disability, lost my job I am still getting no satisfaction...

I appreciate that because i was made redundant and received payment in lieu of notice i had to wait till October to claim. Then i had to wait 30 days to qualify again procedure i think! and should have been paid this month of which i have not.
They seem to come out with reason after reason to stop paying out as that how it appears to me they say this time its because i had a break in...

I have recently had to make a claim on my policy. It took 4 months before the first payment was made, although they were back dated but excluded the first 30 days.
My concern is that payments from this policy are made for 2 years as long as I am signing on for Job seekers allowance.
However if I'm on Job seekers for over 6 months then I go on to a non contribution based job seekers allowance, at which point I have been told that if job centre find a job that they deem is suitable for me at...

I only achieved this by contacting a mortgage advisor based in a city of london branch, had always been very professional in the past. He was extremely helpful.

After paying £157.00 a month to the Halifax , i was made redundant on the 6th of Feb 2009 and after filling out countless number of forms and almost £60 in telephone calls i am still waiting for a payment. Halifax Mortgage Protection Insurance is very easy to set up. I have called twice, and now its 10 days and still no form has arrived. I guess they are stalling for time. Having been quoted by Halifax, I decided to shop around.
By typing in "mortgage unemployment insurance" in to Google, I found a calculator that reduced the price dramatically.
Instead of paying over £25 a month I got it for less than £10 a month.
O.K. I'm young, and the insurance is age related, so the younger you are the cheaper it gets, but I worked out you needed to be over 50 yrs old before it starts getting a bit expensive.
My friends have followed suit and have also switched. They...

The definition of the circumstances surrounding unemployment are such that they either invite dishonesty on the part of the claimant, possibly involving the connivance of the employer, or require the claimant to enter a long and expensive legal process to demonstrate unfair dismissal. Since I would not countenance the former, nor could I afford the latter, it is clear that the Halifax Mortgage Protection Insurance policy is of little value.
As many newspaper articles have shown, payment...

After moving into my new home I decided it was time to start getting my affairs in order - I started a pension, opened a savings account and took out some Mortgage Protection Insurance with the Halifax. So far my dealings with Halifax insurance PPI company have come to no fruition, they seem to deliberately slow things down and blame everything on the person they require information off, I have now been waiting since Nov 05 and up to date 13 April 06 they have not paid anything, I have now missed mortgage payments and been charged by the Halifax/Birmingham Midshires for missing the payments, this insurance say "not our problem, you get charged, you pay your mortgage", oh very funny if I’m out of work but insured for being out of work you would expect these people to pull out the stops to pay things. As per the TV at this moment in time unless proved different by the Halifax I say don’t touch it, they win all the time, the customer gets nothing.

Hi

Getting the policy from the Halifax is easy, they fall over themselves to give it to you. Claiming is a total different kettle of fish, I have had no joy so far since the 18 of Nov 05. I'm still unemployed at 20th April 06 and still waiting and each time they have some excuse of they have had to write to this person that person and they have not replied to us yet. SO be prepaired to suffer the stalling and have a bank balance that can still pay your mortage for what so far is looking like months down the line. I don't and am being charged extra by the Halifax for every payment I miss.

Agree we are still having probs six months down the line, its appears that since being taken over by St Andrews/LLoyds tsb they have moved the goal posts making it harder to claim.
They want to hold on to your money, whilst your mortgage goes into arrears,so in the end they gain, and not you.
The gov or to look into this, and should be better regulated.
