At last I have promise of a sum of money being paid into my account for my mortgage. This has been backdated to Feb when I made my first contact with halifax due to redundancy, altho not happy they dont pay the first month you are redundant.
I only achieved this by contacting a mortgage advisor based in a city of london branch, had always been very professional in the past. He was extremely helpful.
Any way, at the end of a very long road. Now bak at work. and looking for another company for redundancy cover..bye bue halifax

I agree, DO NOT fall for the wonderful sales pitch..... once you need to make a claim, as I did due to redundancy February 2009, helpfullness goes out of the window!!! Very unhelpful, make numerous calls, requesting can I speak to the person dealing directly with the call, Im told they dont take calls. I applied for the cover back in Feb 2009, and now its June 2009. I have filled out the numerous forms that triclke out to you.... and like one of the previous reviewers have now had a late paymen ...

After paying £157.00 a month to the Halifax , i was made redundant on the 6th of Feb 2009 and after filling out countless number of forms and almost £60 in telephone calls i am still waiting for a payment. The last thing i was told, is that i should call their mortgage department and make arrangements to pay my mortgage. I thought i had made arrangements for my mortgage on the day i took out their insurance to cover me in the event of unemployment.

This is my second review the last one being posted on 3rd may 2009. As yet I still havent received a payment, this has dragged on and on since first signing on job seekers as Halifax requested February 18th 2009.
No sense of urgency whatsoever!!!
I took this cover out to avoid the stress nd worry, but I~ have had plenty of that anyway.
I have had to literally "jump through hoops". Still receiving forms to fill out at jobcentre. Even having to visit a branch to insist that certain forms could ...

Halifax Mortgage Protection Insurance is very easy to set up. After over 4 years of paying mortgage protection, I have been made redundant, and still waiting for the claim form to come through to take to the benefits office. I have called twice, and now its 10 days and still no form has arrived. I guess they are stalling for time. Could have thought of a much more profitable way of spending the £100 per month I have paid incase I was ever made redundant. Im not asking for charity, just ...

Having been quoted by Halifax, I decided to shop around.
By typing in "mortgage unemployment insurance" in to Google, I found a calculator that reduced the price dramatically.
Instead of paying over £25 a month I got it for less than £10 a month.
O.K. I'm young, and the insurance is age related, so the younger you are the cheaper it gets, but I worked out you needed to be over 50 yrs old before it starts getting a bit expensive.
My friends have followed suit and have also switched. ...

We had a total mortgage protection cover with Halifax and when we made a claim they came up with all excuses so they did not have to pay.

The definition of the circumstances surrounding unemployment are such that they either invite dishonesty on the part of the claimant, possibly involving the connivance of the employer, or require the claimant to enter a long and expensive legal process to demonstrate unfair dismissal. Since I would not countenance the former, nor could I afford the latter, it is clear that the Halifax Mortgage Protection Insurance policy is of little value.
As many newspaper articles have shown, payment prot ...

Halifax would not pay out on my Unemployment. am guessing that because they are based in Southern Ireland, that they do not have to comply with the Insurance Ombudsman on Mortgage protection Insurance?!

After moving into my new home I decided it was time to start getting my affairs in order - I started a pension, opened a savings account and took out some Mortgage Protection Insurance with the Halifax. I've worked very hard to get where I am today and the thought of loosing my house because of situations outside of my control scared me a bit. I shopped around and settled on Halifax as the best company for me - a mixture of price, reputation and the attitude of the staff when I called into the b ...
