I bought the Pure Power a few years and am very reluctant to use it as the hose does not stay wound up so keeps falling onto the floor. If you take the nozzle out to use it, the whole thing falls over as it has a very short, tight hose. It has given me a number of bruises over the years. I hate it!!!!

My Hoover Purepower 1500 keeps shutting off, I think it has a thermostat in it, I also keep thinking the bag is full and you end up buying more bags. The roller was worn out after 4 months. The foot pedal housing snapped in no time and now it keeps falling over. I do not recommend it.

I bought a Hoover Purepower 1500 just under a year ago. First of all, when it was just six months old, the cable failed. Engineer came out and repaired. One month later cable failed again. Plus, the handle release pedal broke and one of the wheels fell off. Engineer came out and fixed. Then I noticed it wasn't picking up very well only to find that the agitator brush was completely bald! After eight months. New agitator brush duly sent through. (By this time the Hoover helpline was prac ...

Words cannot express just how truly awful the Hoover Purepower is. My 1700w example was so riddled with faults that I cannot believe Hoover tested it further than operating the on-off switch.
Our first problem was with the bags (Hoover bags) that developed small splits in the wall, causing them to burst. These were being caused by the bag compartment that has small 'fins' moulded in to aid circulation. The vacuum force was so strong that they were piercing the bag. I therefore got out the gaffe ...

After using the Hoover Purepower 1500 I'm desperate for a decent vacuum cleaner. It's supposed to be a 1700w pethoover, but it clogs up with dog hair after couple of uses and has to be unclogged before you can get any suction from the hose attachment. Height adjuster fell is broken off after just a few months. Falls over very easily just by pulling at the hose to clean stairs etc.

Dreadful cleaner, everything has literally fallen apart. Carpet height level broke of within a month. Switches just came off in my hand. Collapses and won't stay upright, Nozzle split. Bags and filters are very expensive. Now motor is going leaving an awful burning rubber pong and is very very noisy. All this after just under twelve months of use. Awful will never buy Hoover again!

We've got the hoover Pure Power Pets 2000w.

I was pleased when we first brought this hoover as it sucked up everything really well but soon found out that doesn't last. Have to avoid letting the bags get too full otherwise it's useless! If you do let it get too full the hoover overheats and stops working altogether for about 1/2 hour.

I also found the hose kept on falling off as I was hoovering- really annoying! The tools also fall off very easily and the hose end comes out of the hol ...

We have the Hoover Purepower 1800w. We called them out to it 3 times in first 12 months for various broken parts. We have now owned it for 14 months and the wheel has fallen off this time. It seems to me that something breaks every 3 months or so. The height control slider snapped, the part that holds the handle etc upright broke allowing the handle to fall to the floor every time we left it alone.
We also bought a Hoover washer/dryer and it has the same sort of fault history.

My wife bought this Hoover Purepower 1500 and likes it. I think it's awful. Good suction as an upright, but as soon as you detach the hose, which is short and inflexible, the machine falls backwards, again and again and again. Hoover needs to look up 'Centre of Gravity' and learn. Also, the bag also becomes detached easily, causing dust leakage from the body, and an unpleasant surprise when you open the door! Also feels about as flimsy as a chewed straw. I would avoid.

The plastic on my Hoover Purepower 1500 vacuum cleaner was brittle and snapped in a number of places. When using the hose which was far too short, the vac frequently fell over (and did so on top of my youngster).

I feel completely ripped off, and have since sent it to the tip. It is a disgrace that Hoover are selling such utter rubbish!!

The cord on the Hoover Purepower 1500 vacuum cleaner is ridiculously short. The door falls off. The top of the bag-less thing keeps melting due to overheating (no matter how many times they come and mend it). It does not clean to the edge of the carpets. The filters need constant washing. The attachments fall off the hoover when you use it. When you use the attachments and go back to upright, all the dirt falls out of the bottom. The curly hose doesn't stay in place and pops out of the bottom of ...

We have the purple Hoover Purepower 1800w Vacuum Cleaner. My dad hates the damn thing and wishes he had never purchased it. I only like it because it has good suction and cleans up thread and pet hair without a worry. And also the self sealing dustbags are very clean and easy to dispose of. The main problem is the base. It is very flizy and at one point the cleaner wouldnt stand up so i had to pay 20.00 to get a whole new base. It is something to do with the plastic pedal its self, the plastic i ...

Hoover Purepower 1500 1700W - I wish there had been reviews of this vacuum cleaner when we purchased it in October 2003 - because obviously we would have chosen another manufacturer! Hoover, today, were quite arrogant and dismissive in their Customer Services Dept.

Hoover Purepower 1500 1700W - Poorly designed two belt system mis-aligns frequently...only way to fix it is new chassis. I have 3 pure power models for care homes I run...they have all failed eventually. I have modified one myself to good effect but this is an extreme measure to have to take. But I like how well it performs so I put up with it.

We have had our Hoover Purepower Pets 1500 for about 3 years and at first it was an very good hoover. However, it's only when you put a new bag in do you realise how much the suction deteriorates after a couple of hooverings. The button to release it from being upright has always been temperamental and no longer works (has to be stood up against a wall to stop it falling down), when using the hose, the hoover has a tendency to fall over, the filters have to be changed regularly and the suction ...
