Hi User.

I'm going to be perfectly blunt here. There is no insurance company in the world that will pay for an old pipe. It's not covered. You might be able to get it fixed under a home emergency policy but they will still charge you.

If you're going to renew elsewhere you need to know that no insurance company pay for the repairs to pipe's it's standard practice.

If there is resulting water damage then that would be covered but the pipe itself would not.

“Still waiting after water damage claim”

Early August had a water leak that came through kitchen ceiling, destroying my kitchen ceiling, tiling, fitted kitchen. I had leak repaired, and got quotes for ceiling and kitchen repairs as requested. Saga decided to send out their own surveyor to confirm damage as quotes were quite high. Still no repairs done even though they were going to give go ahead 3 weeks ago. I am cold have no ceiling, half a kitchen. “Ridiculous Price Increase”

just got my renewal notice for building and contents insurance, last year £46 per month - this year over £70 per month. I had to make a claim for a damaged carpet and was expecting an increase but not this amount. Making and completing that claim was a bit of a SAGA too. Due to the ridiculous increase I shopped around and did not get identical cover but actually got better cover and am paying less than last year. “Saga Cancelled My Insurance !!”

I bought a Landlord buildings insurance policy from SAGA on 25 May 2016 only to have it cancelled by SAGA with NO NOTICE whatsoever on 29 July 2016. I paid the full annual premium at the point of purchase. I purchased the policy on the SAGA website and answered all questions truthfully and accurately. It is clear on the website that if a landlord owns 10 or more buy to let properties then cover from SAGA is not available. Saga insurance, what a disgrace. I reported a leak from a washing machine on 7 December 2015. Here we are in April and I am still waiting for my floor to be relayed and kitchen units to be restored. They seem to think 4 months is acceptable. There is not enough space for me to tell you the full story of Sagas incompetence. I've currently got my house, contents and car all insured with Saga but will be renewing all three with a decent insurer after the trouble ive had with Saga over my car insurance. This company is not fit for purpose. Steer clear of insuring with Saga unless you want to be out of pocket and have loads of hassle.

“Saga Emergency Cover”

Stupidly I was tempted by a cheaper price for this service after 12 years with British Gas. My bad! How foolish of me to have fallen for the glossy brochure and the pleasant saleswoman on the telephone. Worse still, I also moved my Parents cover. My Father has dementia and COPD, requiring oxygen permanently so he cannot ever be without sufficient warmth. “Beware of setting up a direct debit with Saga.”

Our home insurance was due for renewal on 17th December 2015. I had received a letter from Saga stating payment to renew this insurance would automatically be deducted from my bank account unless I contacted them to cancel. Awful .My elderly parents have been insured with saga for many years and when due for a renewal as usual with all insurance companies the price offered was not competitive. “Long delay, false start date, ineffective complaint...”

Saga Home Building Insurance. I made a claim in mid July when I discovered an underfloor leak in the kitchen. The kitchen needs to be stripped and a dehumidifier put in for several weeks. This could be done in one day as the kitchen is small. It is now 28th November, over 4 months after making the claim, and nothing has been done. “Non Emergency cover”

My Mother (83 years of age) has been waiting for nearly four weeks to get her boiler fixed. The engineers are clueless and you get fobbed off by different people in the office. Saga said they would put mum in a hotel for the duration (Premier Inn)accommodation only. I don't know how she would get there (she is disabled) and what she would do all day is a different matter! Have had home insurance with saga for two years, recently came back from holiday to find that roof tiles have moved and allowed water in causing damage to bedroom roof. I have just spoken with Saga as I have had my bike stolen whilst on holiday.. I have had my contents insurance with them for years, and I now learn that if anything happens whilst I am away from the house I am not insured! I should apparently ticked something on page 3 of 14 which increases your policy cover.. So if I'd have been burgled I would not have been covered... What kind of contents insurance is that!? I have had my home and contents insurance with Saga for several years. Over the past two years the premier has soared by £200.00 to £680.00 per annum. My washing machine leaked and Saga were informed as the leak had damaged the lamnite flooring. The water making it swell and rise. An engineer/loss adjuster was duly sent and he agreed that the floor would have to be replaced. Instead of accepting the services of Saga to repair the damage it was agreed by them that I could receive monetary compensation. I used sage last year for our holiday insurance to Bulgaria, when we were there my husband developed a bad ear we went to the doctor who took our insurance papers and rang saga , there was a language barrier between saga and the doctor, so I spoke to sage I was told to pay the doctor and then claim when we got home we did this and paid 150 lev.
