“Good & Bad!”

★★★☆☆

written by on 17/02/2015

I always used to go back to this foundation due to the pro's of it which are: 1. Affordable 2. Goes on smoothly 3. Wide range of shades 4. Nice feel However, I am now changing my foundation from this as I have found this foundation is no longer good for me due to the dryness that can be seen on even the slightest dry patch (I have oily/dry skin depending on area of face. It does not last long at all and looks patchy and cakey in creases such as the nose area. I also feel it can look oily after a few hours of wearing it. Overall, I would not recommend it as it can be extremely dry and will make these dry patches very visible and it also does not last long at all and can sometimes look horrible when its put on. It goes flaky and doesn't cover acne prone/ spotty skin very well.

“Excellent.. For a few months.”

★★★☆☆

written by fletchy93 on 23/05/2013

I first bought dream matte mousse about a year ago and I fell in love. The colours were perfect, the application was very easy and it was nice to wear. It blended well into my skin and it was easy to put bronzer on top, it also acted like a concealer for the few spots I had missed. It was all going well and I honestly thought I had found one I could wear for years and years, until my skin became seriously oily on my t-zone. It no longer sits in my skin very well, ending up with make-up all over my fingers at the end the day, and it began sliding off. It's getting to the point where I feel I need to take it all off and start again every few hours. I will never blame the product for this though, certain products won't suit certain people, I appreciate this, but I have never got on with liquid foundation either. Plan B now! To tell you a bit about my skin to help those unsure whether it would suit them, it has never been in bad condition. I blush easily and this hid that well, hiding my bright red cheeks also. It's not particularly dry (not anymore) and has only recently been getting oilier and oilier. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I generally wear make-up every day (have to for my job so is now more routine than a must) so this could also be affecting the state of my skin. I'm not spotty although I do break out on the odd occasion, like every woman does. I wash my face morning and night and I tend to take my make-up off with a make-up wipe beforehand as I wear a lot of eye make-up. Dream Matte Mousse is honestly the best make-up product I have ever bought. I am extremely disappointed that my skin's decided to do this to me, it obviously just needs change! (Quite looking forward to testing some slightly more upmarket ones to see if they help!). For the money, this product is very good. One pot lasts me around a month and I am happy to spend £8 a month on my face. I hope this helps all those lost sheep out there that are struggling to decide!

“alright for price”

written by on 05/09/2012

I started using this mousse a while ago, and at first it seemed very good. The coverage is good and the texture is very light, and doesnt feel like your waring any. However I found out that it was making me break out, and had reactions because of my sensitive skin. As time goes on both me and a friend has found that when applying the foundation, it starts 'crumbling' which sounds odd for a mousse, but it would get all over my clothes and hair. Overall a decent foundation for lightness and coverage but not so good for sensitive skin.

I have really good skin and I rarely get dry skin or spots but after I used this product for a while I started to notice my skin getting dry and flaky on my T-zone, I also started getting spots on my cheeks. However if I moisturise my face twice a day, and put a liquid foundation on as a base it does look good. it has good staying power and stays on during exercise and when it rains it stays quite well, it doesn't make my face shiny at all at its easy to put blusher/bronzer on top of without making the foundation look weird. I also like how it goes on to my face, its easy to apply when you use an application sponge. It is quite good value for money but I have noticed a price increase.

“this is a great product... i love it i have used it...”

★★★☆☆

written by emma anforth on 09/03/2010

this is a great product... i love it i have used it for just over a year now and it is still doing a great job at covering my spots (if you put enough on), it gives you a Matte look that really does last, it does come off quite easily, if you even just scratch your face it will take the foundation off, the other issue is it ISN'T waterproof. the other great this about this product is no matter how dark you go with the foundation (if you like the warm look to your skin) it doesn't go Orange. altough this product is great i have recently found that after long use it does start to encourage breakouts on your cheek and forehead... which isn't so great. Finally i think that you shoud only use this product if you oily/normal skin as it does dry your skin out a little, but it is very noticable on dry skin.

“Okay so I love this foundation (Dream Matte Mousse)...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 18/12/2009

Okay so I love this foundation (Dream Matte Mousse) for a few reasons...
1. it lasts for ages even though the pot is quite small
2. it's really easy to apply, with fingers, brush, sponge, whatever
3. it's pretty cheap and available from a lot of places
4. it gives great coverage with only a small amount
5. it blends with skin really nicely and comes in lots of shades
BUT
1. the pot is heavy, not much of an issue though.
2. I have been told that it is bad for dry skin because it 'sticks' to it, making it show up. I have combination skin, i have an oily t-zone but the rest of my face is good, i guess i have oily skin?? Annnyway.. i figured it would be fine for me because i don't have dry skin but even on my t-zone my skin is beggining to flake which looks horrible and i can't even cover it with the foundation, it shows up more. It's also very, very hard to get off and clogs up pores.
For this reason, I am going xmas shopping tomorrow and I'm going to be buying a different foundation. It's so so sad because it looked great on and made my skin look flawless but recently it's been awful and it can't be good for my skin.

I would recomend it to anyone who has oily or 'normal' skin to try out anyway. I have friends who have always used it and although I haven't asked them they don't seem to have any trouble. I think that for the coverage that you get it's worth spending the £7 or whatever on and seeing what it does for your skin. It has a lot of good points, just be careful of dry skin. xx

Dream matte mousse foundation is a good foundation, it's light and gives a nice smooth feel to the face. It looks great.

However it brought me out with a tonne of spots, and i can't get rid of them, I think maybe i had a reaction to it or something.

Not too sure but i dont think i will buy it again.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse gives you a matte look. It provides great coverage but runs off to quick. It cakes up and runs in any cracks or anything. It doesn't last long on your face. Not to mention the small size, but i found myself not needing as much as other foundations.

Very easy to apply. Great coverage from just a small amount. You can get to finish it all without leaving any trapped at the bottom. Very soft matt finish no real need to use a powder with it. because it looks great on it's own. Stays Matt until you take it off. Comes in a heavy glass jar so if you need to order via the internet postage can be expensive. Could not find darker than Caramel which isn't the darkest shade available. It comes off easily because it's not colourstay. So it's best to only use a small amount.

Worth a try, good price for what it is. Several places have offers on all the time so you should be able to find a good price. Have not tried the blush or eye shadow but I am sure they would all look good together, the foundation gives a nice, dewy, matte tone to the face, and also offers some radiance which looks like your face is glowing - not too bad for under £10! A good one to keep in the make up bag or take on holiday, nice shape, and although some say the glass tub breaks easily, I have dropped mine on carpet before, still going strong!

I like Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation because it goes on smooth, and it's easy to apply. I do recommend this product because it's not good to use every day. It gives great coverage, and it's cheap. I really don't like that it is hard to remove though.

Don't use on chin or forehead.
Don't use anywhere you would get daily acne.
Cheeks and under eyes is great!

While Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation is relatively easy to apply, I did have problems applying it when it was cold in the morning, and instead of smoothing out when applied, it started crumbling.

written by tonemor on 08/12/2005

Even thouog I have found the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundatrion that matches the most, it makes my skin look orange and unnatural. In the summer, my skin looked ok, but in the light winter weahter, it looks awful!! I'm going to change foundation now, but I might use it again next summer. But I don't think I would recommend it, I'm hoping there are better foundations!

written by classyclaire on 04/09/2005

I have a large number of blemishes, as well as large pores and acne scars. I found that although the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation was easy to apply, I did have to use extra moisturiser on the tip of my nose to blend it in. I also found that I still needed to use a concealer, as the scars were still very much visible.

★★★★☆

written by geri901 on 05/03/2005

This Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation is good for the days when my forehead is all flaky because the slight oiliness of it keeps it moisturised so I don't end up looking awful. However on days when my skin already feels a bit greasy it is too much & I end up constantly touching my face which ruins my make up!

“Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse: Now I'm not entirely...”

★★★★☆

written by leafsbabe01 on 15/01/2005

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse: Now I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm constantly on the look out for the perfect foundation. My regular Clinique foundation is very heavy, as I have slight acne scarring from my teens to conceal. The foundation itself is extremely thick and hard to apply, and although it conceals very well, it gives an overall very make-up-y look. I recently purchased a jar of Dermablend's cover creme, which covers anything you could imagine, including tattoos. It works so well, I've started using it just as my concealer, tossing aside all others... and went on a quest to find a new, lighter foundation. A few weeks ago, I saw an ad for Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation. Of course, being the Lancome and Clinique slave that I am, I was cautious. After all, why on earth would any of us go back to a drug store foundation after discovering the luxuries of such brands? Well, besides money of course. I would love to continue using a Lancome foundation, but currently I simply can't afford to spend $40 a month on a foundation. At least not until my visa pulls through and I'm able to work here in the U.S. So I headed over to my local Walgreen's to check out Maybelline's newest foundation, the Dream Matte Mousse. The Claim: Revolutionary whipped formula that provides air-soft, perfect matte finish coverage, with a weightless feel. Breakthrough technology with flexible, silicone polymers that help prevent caking, and settling into creases and lines in the skin. Color pigments that give superior coverage that blends effortlessly, imparting a soft, natural-looking, even-toned result. Long-wearing formula that will not clog pores. The Shades: Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse comes in a wide variety of shades, which they divide into intensity groups to help you select your best match. LIGHT: Porcelain Ivory, Classic Ivory, Natural Ivory, Nude and Creamy Natural MEDIUM: Sandy Beige, Pure Beige, Medium Beige and Honey Beige DARK: Tan, Caramel and Cocoa After inspecting the color selection, I decided Natural Ivory was the best match for me, and headed to check-out. Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone, squalane, dimethicone crosspolymer, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, hydrogenated jojoba oil, polymethylsilsesquioxane, polymethyl methacrylate, silica dimethyl silylate, phenoxyethanol, phenyl trimethicone, disodium stearoyl glutamate, methylparaben, vinyl dimethicone/methicone silsequioxane crosspolymer, aluminum hydroxide, silica, BHT, ethylparaben, butylparaben, isobutylparaben, propylparaben. May Contain: Titanium dioxide, iron oxides, bismuth oxychloride, mica. Packaging: Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse comes in a clear round glass jar with a screw-on lid containing .64 oz. The jar seems to be surprisingly heavy (compared to it's competitor's) when first picked up. One of the things I love most about this foundation is it's packaging. The glass jar gives easy access to all of the foundation, unlike glass jars with narrow openings and plastic tubes, that can be tough to get the last bits of foundation out of. When you unscrew the top, the mousse foundation is revealed. Unlike regular foundations, you have no worries over spilling it with it's spongy texture. Pricing & longevity: The .64 oz jar retails for around $9.00. I've found that most foundations come in 1 oz tubes, which last me around 5 weeks. To date I've found Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse lasts me around 3 weeks. Given that it contains less foundation per jar, it seems to be about average to comparable brands. The Application : Maybelline gives the following application tips: Focus on perfecting the tone and coverage down the center of your face first. Use just a small amount of makeup and blend it in thoroughly. You can then layer more if necessary to achieve the coverage you want. Sounds simple enough, very much the advice of any foundation really. Although I wasn't expecting much out of this foundation, as I typically am not a fan of Maybelline's foundation's... I proceeded by removing the lid and dipping my fingers into the jar. The texture of Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse is indeed very mousse like. It's soft, fluffy and silky to the touch. It is indeed a thicker foundation, but it's unique mousse texture makes it very easy to apply and blend in. It easy glides onto your skin, leaving it feeling soft and silky. After finishing the application, I proceeded to apply my blush, and was pleasantly surprised at how it just glided beautifully onto my skin. This was a huge improvement over Clinique's, which gave a blotchier look. As for coverage, although it is thick, it's coverage is equal to that of a sheer foundation. This is not all that surprising considering how sheer and naturally it smoothes onto the skin. Although it does what it promises, it does even out my complexion fairly well. I simply use my Dermablend concealer over top of the foundation to conceal any problem areas it doesn't conceal. If you have dark circles, blemishes, or anything you wish to conceal, this foundation alone won't cover it. However, with the added help of a concealer, Maybelline Dream Matte Foundation does give a very natural, sheer look. That natural, sheer look tends to last me around 6 hours without touch-ups before any noticeable signs of fading, which I find to be about average. Overall, Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse does give me the natural, non make-up-y look I was going for. It isn't the perfect foundation but with the help of my concealer, it sure does look like it! Recommended, Yes Amount Paid (US$): 9.00 Skin Compatibility: No problems at all
