I subscribed to eMusic.com for more than 5 years when I was in the United States. I subsequently moved to Vietnam. When I tired to download the music I had paid for one year in advance, I was told that the service was not available in my country. After 6 months of fighting with them, told me I was not entitled to a refund because I had changed my subscription by moving! They stole $200 from me. They are a bunch of thieves. Avoid them at all cost.

This site is extremely dodgy and misleading. After having to sign up with a CREDIT card to use a FREE trial I was then shocked to discover they had charged my credit card after having sent me an email saying I wouldn't be charged!

I would never recommend this service and I will never be going near the site again. I guess it's a case of buyer beware and never trust anything you get free from Staples!

I think the T's&C's should've have been more explisive and quite frankly I think the only reaso ...

EMusic www are scam artists, (Iwould have put zero stars on their ratimg except I'm not sure it works).
I was connectede to that 50 free tunes offer , via downloading WinAmp onto my PC.
I recal looking at the info briefly, but not opening an account, joining up with them or anything like.Next thing I knew was a £10.00 charge on my Debit card. (I could not understand how this had come about, as I had not dowqnloaded anything from them, nor to my cocious memory joined the site.

Recent changes by emusic.com have, IMHO, destroyed a pretty good service, at least for classical music. In May they announced changes to their subscriptions, which basically doubled their cost (I was doing 30 download s a month in an annual subscription costing about USD 100 - - its now roughly twice as much). Worse, many CD's now have tracks that you cannot download individually, they are only available if you buy the whole CD!!! So if you wanted the 4 tracks of Beethoven's 4th symphony on a CD ...

I received an offer for 50 free downloads after buying a laptop from staples (who I do not reccomend either!!) - the variety of music is very poor, searching for an artist returns mainly a bio and "other music you might like" but not the music you searched for!! after reading other peoples exeriences with being sneakily charged for 'free' downloads I have cancelled my account after only two downloads - now lets see if I am charged! wouldnt reccomend this site to anyone looking to pay for downloa ...

Difficult to find a particular artist on www.emusic.com. No search by name, and listings not alphabetised.

The price is fine, easy to download, but what upset me was how hard it was to cancel. I was one day late and I couldn't get a refund. Then after I thought I canceled online; I realized 2 months later they've been charging my credit card account for 2 months and all the songs I paid for expired. I can't even get the 60 songs I paid for. Maybe it's because I'm a mac user, but every time I try to contact emusic online the page fails to open. I' finally had to call them to cancel.

    I wish canceling ...

emusic is the WORST! I paid 29.99 to enter the site, this included 100 downloads/mnth and 50 free songs. I then looked through the music they have to offer and could not find even one song on their site worth downloading, so I did not download anything at all. I didn't even use the free downloads. I asked for a refund and was denied due to their tricky contract.
It is now clear why their site is the cheapest. They have no music anyone has ever heard of, and they expect you to download albums to ...

eMusic is the best digital music download site maily because...... THE MUSIC IS AMAZING!!!There is a huge, really diverse range of music to discover. The layout and reviews etc. make even the most obscure of genres easily accessible. Since becoming a member there a year ago, my whole perception of music has changed. There are many styles and genres that emusic has opened my ears up to which I just wouldn't have appreciated before. It may not have many of the mainstream artists, but it has somethi ...

I've only been on eMusic for 2 days and already frustrated with it. If you want mainstream - don't go to eMusic. I don't know what other people find on eMusic. All I know is, I'm glad I bought a music download card instead of having to put my credit card number in.

emusic uses a "free" signup and then started charging me . I e mailed to complain and they replied they had a "no refund" policy.
I am still unable to get the few 'free ' downloads I tried
onto my i pod so I've got nothing for my money. I have again replied and am awaiting their comments. Will keep you posted.

eMusic is great if you like covers compilations.Difficult to search for songs.
Limited choice. I'm into some pretty obscure music and I couldn't find any of that OR any mainstream stuff!

Save your money and buy from iTunes instead.

When you sample a music download site and do searches for favorite songs, you want the ORIGINAL artist, hopefully doing the ORIGINAL recording, that you fondly remember. Here's an example of what I found......During a search on eMusic, for the track "I Think We're Alone. Now"(famous original oldie by Tommy James & The Shondells), I got 43 hits, with the first hit being "Living On Video" from label Cleopatra Records, the second hit a karaoke version, and the 4th....a Lene Lovich Japanese version of t ...

Emusic uses a classic "free" signup and then starts charging quietly $19.99 per month. I called to cancel and they said they had a "no refund" policy. It took 10 minutes of gentle prodding but eventually they agreed to refund 1 month. Then 10 more minutes of stronger (but still respectful) complaining and they finally agreed to refund both months.

So don't believe that "no refund" policy. Just keep at it with a fairly cool head and you can get your money back.

I feel the website is not user friendly and the music selection is limited - When I called customer service and told the representive my concerns ( who was very hard to understand - due to poor English) he just said I am sorry - there was nothing done to try to resolve my issues.
My new MP3 player came with "50 free songs" from emusic so I went onto the website and signed up - you have to subscibe to get the 50 free songs - within mintues after subscribing I realized the artist I liked were no ...

I used emusic because i brought a flash drive and it said 35 free songs +1 audio book. All i had to do was type emusic.com/sony in my browser so I guess anyone can do this without having to buy the flash drive, doh!

*Watch out for the mistake I did. During the end of the signup process it will ask you if you want to subscribe for music - say no, and it will ask for audio books too, say no. Dont subscribe to them because they will come out on your bill and they will take the transaction the mo ...

I have alread made a review of eMusic and it was not very positive because they charged me wrongly and would not refund my money no matter how hard I tried to explain myself to them. However, I am pleased to report that once I contacted the BBB - eMusic got right ahold of me and totally refunded my money. So I am happy that they did end up doing the right thing, even if I had to spur it on a little. The BBB is a great agency - I recommend if you run into problems to go to their website and file ...
